I don't see my post as rude or sassy. It's a logical extension of real Subetan lore and fits in with real Subetan functions that already exist, minus the colorname and the ribbon for the userlookup. The names I have given for titles are all fanciful, to my mind, and they do act the way that European history shows that royals and folks who think they should be royal act, IMO. In terms of RL, you can read any British newspaper for a month to see how bad royals truly are no matter how prettily they are presented otherwise, so history isn't wrong.

You can report me for violating the Be Nice rule or block me, I suppose?

Neopets sucks. That's a little bit rude, but not unnecessarily so, there's a reason we play here. Their Royal color is also pretty sad.. My modification of the original Suggestion is better than "get an overlay". If a Suggester has one idea and one idea only and isn't inclined to modify it at all based on what other users think, and thinks any modification suggested by them IS WREONG then maybe this is rude?

As many said, Id love to see adornments (like I said in 1st post!!!) added to the pet, e.g. I can see the Feli sitting with a "snobby" look, a crown and a half cape/drape. Imagine the pets being adorned to show how wealthy their owner is.
Saggitarius was mentioned because he is rich and have that superior look, I never stated this should be royalty. Literally read the title of the board.

m8, one does not simply use the words "royal", "aristocratic" and "noble", and expect people not to associate jewelry, crowns, capes, scepters, kings, queens, and royalty/nobility as a human construct with it. :'| All those technically fall under clothing, so still a nty from me, even if it's shoehorned to be lore-appropriate. put it perfectly - please keep the clothing and accessories on the avatars. Or on overlays.

I wouldn't mind a purple/gold colour combo. Lilac is pastel, and vibrant is... a royal clusterfuck in terms of consistency (pun intended). But I'm still not sure how to feel about the idea of Saggi funding it. No other NPC has a colour based after them.

RE: Shrine guardian idea - that one's kinda been suggested to the moon and back in the form of stone/marble/crystal/statue pets.

Now that I think about it some more, maybe "pampered", "spoiled", or even "pedigree" would be a better name for the pet colour? The one common thing I'm seeing here is a want for an arrogant, spoiled, almost bratty type of pet personality. A prize-winning pet that knows it's better than everyone and isn't afraid to show off how perfect it is - you don't really need clothing for that.

I get you, I honestly never saw any problems on pets wearing clothes until now, so what I mean there is that I didn't said "they all should be neopets royal" and thats what people are assuming and automatically turning down without even thinking

nbd dude. We're cool. 👍 It's just really hard to untangle the two things (royalty & clothing), even if you go in without knowledge that neopets did it first.

Butyeah. I would like a consistent pet colour with that arrogant, better-than-thou personality, but the clothing would be a dealbreaker for me. :c

The topic did remind me of two minions that already kind of had that regal thing going on, but sadly... The bling.

The personality could def be pulled off, but the colour scheme might prove challenging.

No support. Even though Subeta would do it better than Neo's Royal colour, I don't want clothes on my pets. Besides, I'm already sick of seeing HA wearables as it is. No need to spread the infestation to the pets lol.

As long as it stuck mostly to pet-appropriate accessories or fur/scale/feather/etc. patterning instead of full-on clothing (That the pet doesn't already have at least, since Harvesters/Waradors are kinda... Clothed-ish) I think it'd be neat!

I think this may be an unpopular onion anyway bc clothes, but i think there's absolutely a way to make the pets look "regal/aristocratic" yet still, undeniably, pets: Proper aristocrat animal accoutrement - all kitted out with barding and fancy armour, which was basically ye olde dong extension car. No anthrofying needed ¯(ツ)/¯ I personally really don't like the idea of conflating the regal idea into a "pedigree" colour and making pedigree pets seem arrogant, spoiled, bratty, and superior, it's just such an overplayed trope by now.

I've read everything here, except one post because it didn't make any god damn sense, and decided that I still do not want clothes or "accessories" on pets. And this is coming from someone with a pet who has art that includes a tiara on her.

And theres a very key reason for this - People would bitch. About the clothes on pets, about how one pet has one crown, but they want their pet to have it, and if the genders have different overlays (Which would be pretty cool) then would the neutral/no gender have one? And why can't my boy pet have the girl overlay? Blah blah blah.

I'm all down for a new color pallet thats richer/deeper more jewel-toned with perhaps a bit of sparkle here and there - but accessories? As much as I like the image people are giving me, Its still not worth the headache the artists would have to deal with it.

TL;DR - No, use an overlay ;)

But... royalty being haughty, snooty, superior, aloof, snobby and better-than-you is also an overplayed trope. ._.

That aside, I agree - there is a way of making the pets look regal-ish without going the stereotypical route. Your examples are animals dressed up for war/hunting, or for the sake of showing off the rider's status. :x Dressed up being the key words - the animals themselves aren't royalty. It all still involves apparel, and considering the slow releases of pets we already get, plus the points and brought up... I don't really see this being a thing.

It would be nice aesthetics-wise, absolutely! But it would also open a can of worms that I'd really rather not have anyone deal with.

That's true, didn't consider that. It just bothers me because pedigreed animals have an actual purpose (and in many cases it's a working purpose, not a fancy schmancy frou frou pure blue blooded lapdog) whereas royalty is just antiquated bullshit lol

@ beinagrind Yeah I feel you there. x)

tbh, I was debating using prized or prize-winning, but... that brought mental images of prize-winning show dogs and... you really don't want to start looking into how some prize-winning dogs look compared to working/"regular" dogs of the same breed. ._. Knowing me, maybe I'm being too much of a stickler about the semantics of the name.

Oh i know how the show vs. work divide is in dogs haha, thankfully in a lot of breeds the pendulum is swinging back to moderation and while they may not be capable of the same work as their working line counterparts they're not crippled. There's also countless breeds where showing isn't the only "prize" to win to breed good dogs, plenty of breed clubs require breeding dogs to title in both show and work :> But back on topic, i just really want barding/armour/caparisons on pets lmao! I love fancy animal gear that is actually animal gear and not just like... glued on tiaras and ermine trimmed capes 😛

That makes me happy. :D Thank you for explaining it to me!

And yeah, I don't want tiaras or capes. :'D Barding, armor, fancy saddle blankets, and even things like paint on some animals (zentus and indian festival elephants come to mind!) would be better than the cookie cutter noble stereotype. But the man-made apparel thing is still kind of tripping this suggestion up and turning a lot of people away. Paint could work, ditto with unique fur/skin/scale patterns, but that kind of also sadly lacks a clear, consistent theme to me that would fit with the suggested personality that's being mentioned in the topic. :c

I wasn’t to keen when I saw the title of this but I really like ’s idea of a Saggi style colour with the adornments being marking on the fur.

As far as clothes on pets, even accessories, I’d say no. It’s not something the pets here have and I think it might make the pets very gender specific so then we’d need male, female and gender neutral looks

I think you could get around the problem of clothes on pets by just adding jewelry and like golden or silvery patterns on skin, maybe very slight clothing like tiaras or capes

Personally, I love the idea of barding and/or warrior pets as a color. Proud battle poses, maybe some scars, and definitely some fancy body armor...but that is rather getting a bit away from the regal idea, lol. Could go nicely with a Ren Faire though. ;)

if 'regal' as in explicitly royal ermine-cape-and-crown is the aspect freaking people out, why not something rococo/rocaille themed? pastels (not necessary, but my thought was of that sort of pink-blue-white-gold mix), organic patterns (brocade, while not period accurate, is sufficiently 'regal' i should think?) in shades of gold, very prim and proper, best-in-show poses? actual accessories don't have to exist for the shapes and colors to go along with the idea (or to create the implication of said accessories without actually adding them). there are also various pretty-ups that are animal-appropriate without being accessory driven.
