Like I'm very passionate about revenge, but if that wouldn't bring Bubbles peace either...my very first comment stands, that Bubbles deserves justice/peace (but not in the sense like "Justice means Gunter has to stand trial and be convicted by a jury of his peers" or anything because fiction, but yeah).
Damn, some folks real bootybothered about fictional murder in here.
FTR, how people consume and react to fictional accounts of things that happen has no bearing on nor is it an indicator of how they might react to the same things happening in real life. If (general) you can't properly separate fiction from reality, that's a different problem entirely and you better go sort that mess out.

I didn't even KNOW this was going on....
But I'm interested in the zombie idea the most....

I'm just here to see how the Subeta world deals with murder. Is there a court system? Will we need to invent one (the Orestia is my favourite Greek tragedy)? Does each place deal with crimes differently? Is this all already a thing and I just missed it?
I'm not sold on the 'killed him because he was turning into a zombie' angle. Mostly because Bubbles ended up as a zombie anyway, so it didn't make any difference (plus I'm not sure how Subeta zombie lore works in that regard). Also, if you're going to kill someone you love because you don't want to see them suffer, you'd want to make it quick. Drowning them in a dark enclosed space that slowly filled up with water is not that. Whatever his reasons, his actions were still excessively cruel and he concealed the truth for years.
Also, if Gunter confesses (and it looks like he might) and subsequently pleads guilty, that means a non-jury trial (if we even get anything approaching a trial).
Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but it's raining and dark on all the maps in explore right now? :'( Thought it might be related, as it seemed out of the norm, plus Manwar said "Something's really brewing" Either way, I'm interested to see where this goes~
EDIT: oh, the rain stopped, nvm... puts away my umbrella
Every Monday, it rains on all the maps for a random few hours during the day. It's related to the Tempest, and I think there's supposed to be a slightly increased chance of getting an RE from her while it's raining.
An insight to the Subetan Justice System would certainly be interesting, but somehow I'm envisioning this ending in a different sort of 'justice'...
crackpot prediction of the day
After the festival is wrapped up, Gunter decides to visit his brother in the Underground, seeking absolution. Bubbles is understandably enraged, and an altercation takes place that ends with Gunter being shoved into the Underground spring...
...It's some time before he emerges, and, well, he isn't quite the same any more.
Meanwhile Bubbles, his memories returned and retribution done, is finally able to find peace. Maybe he realises his Unlife is happier and more fulfilling than his old life ever was... but nonetheless manages to enrich it further, now that he's able to re-establish a relationship with his daughter.
Anne inherits the brewery. Maybe she takes over the running of it, in preference to her current life of minimum wage drudgery. Or maybe she sells it and uses the proceeds to launch a fabulous new career. Either way, she makes the time to look after her late uncle's beloved pet goat.
The newest member of Subeta's Underground community is troubled that he can't remember his former existence; but reasonably content, in that everyone has been very welcoming, especially that nice landlord with the pink apron. The first thing he can remember, after dragging himself from the water, is finding a copy of this book that really resonated with him: It helps to form his goal in Unlife... and come next year's Neugarten, we have a new stall specifically designed to appeal to the Unliving palate!
Lovely, just lovely!!! ❤ I wonder why you aren't on Subeta's writing staff! :)

That said, I highly doubt we're going to get some sort of formal trial, partly because no-one has the time to construct a detailed Subetan legal system, and also it's the least interesting option. I hope he gets subjected to the judgement of Shinwa and she's all "yeah, you're a dick, I'ma turn you into a malevolent sea witch" because that's what she does, apparently.
Um....I don't think that's a good idea... One sea witch is already loose in Subeta; I don't think we need another one....

This is probably my favorite theory so far.
I just hope we get something soon, I'm getting impatient. ;~;
Should see something today with it being a Monday and all. And on the side note of Merana, I'm guessing she'll be the opponent for this month's theme.

Ijs seaking mermaid Gunter is now my favorite NPC, rising up and attacking anyone who tries to eat his fish friends. I don't care if it'll never happen no one can take this away from me now.
And that makes me think of the Sharks from Finding Nemo.. XD
Ohh, I see. :0 That makes sense, as I did get a Tempest RE just a bit before noticing that, haha~
Honestly?
I hoped Gunter is faking all of these "regrets". I hoped he has actually no remorse about what he did, that he still saw himself as a good guy.
Because we are seriously lacking in human characters who are on the evil end of the spectrum. We have Calvin Blackmoon and that's mcfriggin it. Gimme more morally corrupt monsters, who don't look like they're a threat.
Marcel Martenez's murder has been undone, due to time travel, (GIVE HIM A REDEMPTION ARC, STAFF, SINCE VERNON IS VERY MUCH ALIVE, BTW).
Darkheart Phantom isn't anywhere near human, but is still having a change of heart and is calming down.
Matlal and Kahazlakshahslala got redemption as well with the plot we got...last year? The one before, where we actually freed Merana
So yeah. Outside of Blackmoon, this is really lacking. Evil isn't just SUPER OMNIPOTENT GODDESS AND MONSTERS, evil can also be our neighbor.
...Maybe he only regrets that he didn't grind his brother's whole corpse up into sausages to prevent Bubbles from coming back again!
As well as what you said, too.
I start to think that Bubbles is not at all a typical zombie, he was not infected, but brought back to life by Rachelle, for 2 reasons:
She gave him the apron... which is totally random..
he has this iron in his head, it could be used for boosting him with electricity something like Frankenstein.
