We waited two months before we found out the gender. It's so hard to wait! I feel ya on the flu shot too. I don't get it and don't get sick and I still don't want to get it even now, but I have a feeling i'm going to have too since our immune systems suck right now
My husband and I were just in Portland the other day and we're at SeaTac waiting to leave back to texas. Through our vacation along the west coast I saw places that catered to vegan/vegetarian which is nice. My husbands cousin is a vegetarian, but is comfortable with us when we went out to eat.
Which will make the FLU even worse when we get the shot XD;;;;
Yup! The only time I get sick, if if my allergies are really bad or Eric's youngest nephew is sick lol. Which happened last December and I was sick into January. I already told eric to keep me away from sick neice's and nephews at the end of the year. I don't want to be in labor and sick at the same time. It'd be horrible.
When I have a cold or something my diabetic numbers go all over the place. I don't need to deal with that DX
haha, yea all depends how big you get. i woulda been able to do it xD

I couldn't live without a dish washer to be honest
(this is the part where I work in a hospital so I get on my soapbox about this)
If you get a flu shot while you are pregnant, you gotta tell them, they will give you a killed/inactivated virus and it will be fine. It's a good idea. If you get the actual flu after you give birth and are breast-feeding, or even formula-feeding (you're still close to the baby) you can give the flu to your baby, which is pretty dangerous.
Tdap is VERY IMPORTANT for new moms and you should get it in the third trimester. It prevents Whooping Cough, which adults survive, but babies frequently don't. Tdap during pregnancy gives the baby some antibodies that will tide them over till they're old enough to get their own shots, particularly when you breastfeed also, and gives you antibodies that will prevent you from catching it from someone else and giving it to your kid.
If you get sick because you had a flu shot, either you need a killed virus, as Truffula said, or you are mistaking the mild feeling of "yuck" that you will sometimes have after a shot with the flu itself. If you could confuse it with a bad cold, it's not the flu, it's flu shot yuck. It's an immune response that is like a micro-mini-flu, in which your body builds up antibodies but you don't have a 104 degree fever, get dehydrated, et cetera.
The flu is nothing like flu shot yuck. I actually have been taken to the hospital with flu because even though I did get a flu shot, I work in a place where we see people from all over the planet and I managed to pick one up that wasn't covered under that year's shot. This is why sometimes people do get the flu after getting a shot. It doesn't mean the shot didn't work, it means you, like me that year, were just lucky enough to run into someone who had a virus that wasn't one of the most common ones predicted for that year.
If the flu takes hold of you firmly and you get a full-blown case, you get high fevers, dehydration, and you can't work, there is no taking a cold and flu pill and doing it anyway, you are laid out.
Also, the flu is weird, in that it frequently takes out the strongest people with apparently healthy immune systems; it tells the immune system to go nuts and release loads of harmful chemicals.
You have to get a flu shot every year because flu viruses mutate every year and organisations like the CDC put a lot of time and effort into trying to figure out which of the new strains will be most common throughout the world each year.
Flu is a disease that gets its start in pigs and birds, especially chickens. On farms, mostly in Asia, where these animals live close together, they are always exchanging their flu viruses, which do a thing where they swap pieces with each other so that the virus survives even in animals and people who have had flu before. That's why sometimes--but not for a long time thank G-d--we get flu viruses that are especially strong and dangerous--because they're different from previous strains we've experienced. Strong strains of influenza are sometimes called 'bird flu' or 'swine flu' but all flu is passed around through these critters back and forth and to us.
If you do start getting your flu shot every year, the effects will be less obnoxious over time. I hardly notice it any more except for a sore arm and maybe a little headache. Most hospital workers are required to have it. This is for patient safety and also for our safety.
Herd immunity is really important. If everyone who can get the vaccines does so, those who are too small, too sick, or too immunocompromised for vaccines are safer, because the people around them do not pick up the virus and pass it on.
-- there are tons of places all over the PNW (Washington, Oregon, parts of Norcal) that cater to vegans, and this is good. As a celiac, who needs to eat gluten free, I firmly believe that everyone should be able to eat out without fear and enjoy themselves.
But calling the whole city "vegan" implies more than a willingness to accommodate the needs and desires of persons who can't/don't want to eat animals and animal products. It kind of implies an unwillingness to accommodate the needs and desires of persons who do need or want to eat animal foods, and I have not found that to be true.

i had too for a while because the one we had didn't work

Back!!! :3 She said it's up to me if I get the flu shot or not, but she made a very good case as to why I should get it. Mainly for the baby, not for myself. So I'm just going to get the stupid shot sigh How's work going?
That's what my doctor was telling me today. She said to get one especially since I'm having my baby right in the middle of flu season DX ACK! I don't think I've had a flu shot in 15+ years so that will be awesome. I got my Tdap today ^0^
Guess I better get my shot then :P bleh XD Merlot is also prego XD may wanna tell her to read all that.
Man I am just a klutz, I opened my car door straight into my face. I think I am going to have a black eye DX
Going my stomach is starting to feel a TAD bit better, but on a negative side I slammed my car door into my face. Had my husband look at it when I got back from picking up lunch he said I am probably going to have a black eye... DX
OH NOOOOO! Welcome to pregnancy clumsiness XD LOL! Your poor eye though! I'm glad you are starting to feel a bit better though! :3
I say as I hold back throwing up DX ugh -lays down and holds face- XD;;
well I did ping her though it was for something else in that post :)
I do rant about vaccines, but it's because I care :)
