It’s too hot here in Southern California. There is an Excessive Heat Alert for today again and we have several areas fighting wildfires. Luckily, we live 4-1/2 miles from the ocean so we get to be cooler than most other areas.

Yes, it is way too hot here too!!! 111 yesterday but not sure what it is supposed to be today!! I am so jealous you only live 4 mi from the beach...which one? I grew up in Orange Co and spent ALL of my free time at Newport, Corona, Laguna and Huntington beaches. I miss it terribly 😢

I grew up in Anaheim and spent a lot of time at Disneyland on Tom Sawyer’s Island, lol. Back then tickets were cheap. We’d walk there, get in with little money and spend the day running around. Huntington Beach was the beach we’d go to as it was just a straight shot down highway 39. Those were the days. Now we live close to Oxnard Shores in Ventura County. It’s much cooler here.

I grew up in Orange!! I spent a lot of time at Disneyland too!!! Especially as a teen, at night when we could get someone to get us in free and go watch the bands!! My dad worked for the city of Anaheim and retired from there. My sister still lives in Garden Grove, across the street and down a bit from Disney!! I miss it all except the traffic!! LOL

My dad was an electrician and worked for Disneyland for a number of years before he went to work for a private contractor. My daughter & family still live in the house I grew up in. The traffic between Anaheim & Oxnard is horrendously bad. A normal 1-1/2 hour trip often can take over 5 hours. I like living were I do now because it is cooler and less crowded.

Happy summertime! I have a workshop 4 days this week. I am already worried I won't have internet, so close to 300 days in a row... >-<

There was a tiny little inchworm (caterpillar) on my basil just now. I sang it the inchworm song (I miss Danny Kaye, I do indeed). I put it outside. I hope it doesn't reproduce on other plants, but I just couldn't squash it.

Nah, because all the other kids lived nearby too. However, my cousins sure liked to visit, lol. We’d more often though get dropped at the roller skating rink nearby. They’d leave us there and go back to our house and they’d play poker until we’d call them to come get us. It was a lot safer then. No one thought twice about kids being there without parent supervision and we didn’t think about doing anything that would get us in trouble. We just needed money to get in, for tickets and change to use the payphone to call them to pick us up. :D

I stopped yardwork only because I ran out of bags, and it began to rain. I can finish tomorrow.

I remember times like that! It's safe in my area, but parents still need to be aware. Kids are less attentive to their surroundings now I think, too preoccupied with screens.

The pressure will be off when I've finished the yardwork. After that a few days of keeping after their gardens and pets. I might also make some rounds to clean some of the interior.
