Your pet is only temporarily owned by the rift. Your pet will find it’s way back to you but it be changed to one of the new rift looks depending on what your pet was going into the rift. I sent my pet into the rift in the morning and it found it’s way back to me on the evening of the 2nd day. You will also get an achievement. :D
