well Mum's British but we celebrate cos Dad's American and mum liked the idea of a nice family holiday.

If it works it works. I used to continue celebrating because it was tradition and family time, but I've since just dumped it.

I don't celebrate largely because of my family of origin.

Most holidays involved presents, so it was worth putting up with the shenanigans that ensued when the entire dysfunction junction got together.

Thanksgiving was no presents, being prodded to say what you were thankful for at the moment when you felt least thankful, and the adults getting drunk (which I hated), watching football (which I hated, especially when we only had one TV that worked reliably), and redetermining their pecking order for the year.

I will go to visit friends who do Thanksgiving if they invite me and that's fun, but I have no desire to replicate my childhood Thanksgivings whatsoever.

Yeah, I only do Christmas because of the presents, AHAHAHAHA

Thankfully they're working quickly to sort out all the errors. And if I didn't have to, I wouldn't celebrate Thanksgiving either. I think it's a bs holiday and also the food really is not even remotely my favorite. After two "dinners" yesterday, I got home and ate chili nachos.

Mmm chili nachos sound amazing. I actually don't mind the 'traditional' Thanksgiving food. I just... Have no interest whatsoever in celebrating the fuckery that is that day and am glad I'm no longer required to do it.

I keep telling everyone in my life that I do not care about celebrating. Unfortunately all of the family does, and all of Jay's family too =/ I'm like...here...I ate 20 rolls and a few bites of turkey and some potatoes, can I go home now???

People keep asking me if I am going to any of the dinners and I just say no, then stay home.

Nobody but my parents and sister and I will go to my grandma's (because my aunt and her kids are snotty af) so I can't not go. And then Jay gets all testy if I don't come to his house. I was in jeans and a tank top and they were all dressed up and I was just -shrug- nobody told me it was fancy dress to sit at a makeshift table so oh well.

I am very glad that I don't have to deal with that. Or that I'd care.

I love my gram even if she's a pain sometimes. And my aunt treats her super shitty. I don't want her to sit and cry.
