Clearly my polisci and biochem professors were wise, even though I hated doing those exams in pen. Had they said that was the reason, I would have felt differently :P

I've had a number of professors who allowed pencil on exams, but when grading, would draw pen lines through the empty space left on any question. The prof could notice if there was a lot of erasing when turning it back in, and it was obvious if the student was writing in a previously crossed out section.

I was about to say, the Shrine of Apollonia is a pretty decent lower tier battle weapon. Although I've personally never used it, some people swear by it :P
