It's not really useful for me. Not really any speed increase or anything, and it doesn't really affect my mobile experience as far as I've seen.
My main problem it's making Gigantic Yellow Boxes show up on all my pet profiles (that's 20+ pets alone) unless I add a line of code to get rid of the sidebar, which is... incredibly annoying. Unless someone has a really small computer/tablet/(device) screen, the usefulness of this seems very subjective.
I demand blood sacrifice for the sheer amount of my pet profiles that this update has messed with!
Now all the upper right side is unclickable.
I do currently find the placement of the button quite jarring. I enjoyed how "clean" the header was previously, especially the placement and surrounding area of the clock, but this button is now very present and very eye catching if one uses the on-site clock in any way. It doesn't really blend with the layout and in my opinion it looks misplaced, cluttered almost. I wonder if it would impose less if it were a clickable link under the personal tab instead of a new (very present) text button on every page of the site? Or if it were moved to be near the heading tabs instead of next to the clock?
Naturally these are just my thoughts though and purely aesthetic issues - I'm sure this is a very helpful feature for a lot of people!
I hate how this screwed up pet profiles. Like I just fixed most of my pet profiles a few months ago and now I feel like I lack the motivation to finish fixing. It's hard to stay on top of what coding to fix and why something I feel should have fixed it coding wise hasn't fixed things. I'm rusty with my css coding and I sure as heck don't have motivation anymore if changes are pending. And I only have two dozen pets. I feel for those with less coding skills or more pets. ;__; ugh anyway I rarely rant on boards anymore but yeah I'm just tired of coding changing and getting to find out by randomly visiting my pet's page and knowing it's not even done is like bah I'm done trying? haven't even sorted out my signature because I can't figure out the dang centering code and why it stopped working for me t_t rest in peace, my aesthetics
I mean I get change, yay for better layouts and site functionality as a whole, I just don't like how it's wrecking pet pages, sorry for the rant x_x
As far as I know: the only noticeable change for me was that all my pet profiles (or most) are broken. Maybe I'm blind but I can't see a change?
Oh, I thought it was just me whose pet profiles had been broken by this change. -sigh- Off to fix them again...
I didn't know customCSS was going to be axed when the layout changed. That's... concerning. I use customCSS a lot, really not sure why that has to go...
, was helping with pet profile issues over here: Recent Layout Changes
It looks like staff is taking the issue seriously and working on a permanent solution:
Would you perhaps consider changing pet profiles first, or at least more of a priority?
Before continuing to make changes to the site as a whole that will continue to effect pet profiles.</p>
<p>Honestly, once pet profiles are set up similarly to user profiles with their own "blank slate", half the issues (or more?) users seem to have with site changes would no longer be an issue.
OH that sounds great, thanks for letting me know about that post!! I figured out what was breaking my profiles but that is excellent news.
thanks for the update, ! that's good to know!
Snap and thank you for the css
