I've had no trouble getting the darks and winds -- an average of a couple dozen each type. Freezers are about a third of rate.
My smallest Pet fought Tide 206 times so far and only got 3 Freezing Cabochon Crystals out of those 106 battles.
I'm rather carrying on for the amulets and tomes.
Crap, I forgot to account for General Error with the Freezing Marquise Crystals.
So I actually got 115 crystals out of 938 total items, which is 12.3%. The expected rate drop rate is 17.2% if they were given out evenly.
An account search says I have 71. With another 10 modded in weapons and another 10 max that I've given away, we can assume that's 91 or fewer. I'm too lazy to figure out how many battles I've done w/each pet that count, but I wouldn't be surprised if my drop rate is similar to what you've seen. It does feel high though. I suppose because we have to wade through so many battles to get to the good loot. lol
EDIT:
I did 100 extra battles against Vulty and got:
Wind Defense Cabochon Crystal x7
Wind Cabochon Crystal x8
Dark Magma Potion x85
and 34 Medium BC tokens
So the % for each is easy to calculate. Granted, it is a small sample size -- but the drop rates are disappointing since you have to do 100 battles to get within the range of a CHANCE of crystal drops. I don't count the 100th battle since that drop is set. Seven and eight percent chance against a medium foe? Bummin'...

I am a little confused. If I mod a weapon with four Freezing Marquise or Freezing Brilliant Crystals, will I have a 12% chance of freezing?
What would one suggest I mod The Ether with? I would think the freezing crystals, but is there something else I should do?
The percentages are the likelihood that a blessing, curse, or heal will activate. They don&;t &;stack&; and will activate independently of each other.</p>
<p>For example, if you were to add three Parched Baguette Crystals to your weapon, the likelihood that the Parched (10%) blessing will activate on any given turn is 1 - (0.9<em>0.9</em>0.9) = 0.271 or 27.1%; the 0.9 being the 90% chance that the blessing will not activate, multiplied three times over because you added three Parched Baguette Crystals.
If you were to use four, the odds of any of the crystals causing a freeze on any one turn is calculated like so: 1 - (0.97 * 0.97 * 0.97 * 0.97) = 1 - (0.885) = 0.115 = 11.5%

However, which ones you should equip depends on your opponent. If you are trying to prevent yourself from being frozen, Parched Baguette Crystal is the best. Blessing of Natural Armor Tear Crystal will prevent freezing and stealing, but for a fewer amount of turns. Singed Baguette Crystal and Critical Strike Tear Crystal are best for inflicting the maximum amount of damage that you can.
If you prefer freezing crystals, then it's fine to use those too, I just personally don't and opt for freezing scrolls like Shriek of Despair because I find they are more reliable.
Thank you for your reply. Are there any other scrolls, like that? I made a 'Cold Blast', but it seems to freeze much less often than 71%.. Would you happen to know how many times you have to beat the Night Lady, before you get 'Shriek of Despair', or is it random?
Shriek of Despair is a random drop.
It's random. There's about a 10% chance of her dropping one after each win.
-Psycho Smashers are the next best and you can get two from defeating General Error 10 and 50 times. -Strong Stomp is a new one that can be obtained from defeating Gelatin Stomper whenever we have another Gelatin War. -Gale Force is available in the Battle Shop. I don't think it freezes quite as much as the other three. -Cold Blast is one you already mentioned and you can get one per pet if they're strong enough. -There is also Perilous Whirlpool, which has a low chance to freeze, but it's cheap to make yourself at the Secluded Shrine and doesn't take up that much AP.
If you want to look into some infinite use freezing scrolls, Unstable Fairy, Assassin, and Gelaspell Scroll are all pretty good.
