first day of work is tiring.. im just relaxing.
snuggleslove you, Sis
LOL I'm down a few lives (will smail you details) but I'm okay, trying to stay positive
Mein kind, even the Seelie elves (Ljosalfar) were not very nice to humans, let's say a Fey Count fell in love with a mortal woman, he'd abduct her, keep her for what to him may be a week or weeks and then dump her back in the mortal world. but time in Faerieland is different, so that few weeks vacation may have been 100 years in her world. LOL imagine meeting your infant sister's great-grandchildren when you come back

I do know that but many books display faeries as the harmless fluttering and sparkly pixie. Or make it look like everything in Faerie is better and nice and dandy. It is not. I like books where there is also shown how feyfolk have conflicts and downright war between each other, without making it seem like they'd do warfare like humans.

Oh there's plenty of infighting in a Seelie trode, I'm sure jealousy over the King/Queen's new favorite can send them off to dark corners to scheme and plot whatever unfortunate accident will befall the poor favorite. The stories are ancient as the hills of Eire, but wonder if it isn't allegorical to human society, like Mssrs Swift and Pope

I wouldn't classify Seelie as harmless. They are just more open about their intentions.

you you broke my water!!!!!!!!! j/k hehe i went to get ready for work today and my mom had no water pressure... was able to get ready for work... tho and its finally fixed took all day.
Precisely, Cub! There are lots of theories that the Seelie were more honorable, more like Angels in Judaeo-Christian mythology but that's bosh if you look at Celtic Faes.
We are getting too much sun! 85 yesterday and it should be overcast

Faerie mythology has been thrown into one pot a lot, without regard for all the differences between regíons of origin.
I can send you some of my clouds. I'm happy for every little bit of sun and blue sky. Lifts my spirits immensely.

Alas, Sweet cub, you are spot on. It gets deliberately twisted to suit a writers views or their target audience. Using the Djinn from Arabic Folklore as an example the Djinn or (singular) Djinni were air spirits who would deliberately twist the wording of their Summonser's wishes to harm or kill the unlucky human. Never mind Disney's version-and I LOVE Robin Williams-but for a better version of what the Djinn are like, look at the Blue Djinn in Arabian Nights. Even the less malignant of the elementals, the marid were just kind of neutral, would sooner cross the street so to speak than nod hello

Ah I gotta find a better copy of Arabian Nights for my kindle than the current one I have. It was free, so I took it, but it seems to have not every good editing, so reading it can be hard.
I live for tales and stories tho and love to heap them onto my kindle to read later, no matter how bad the editing is.

Ma chere , Translating Arabic into other languages is tricky, there are almost identical characters that mean very different things and if wording even punctuation is changed, the tone and flow of the story likewise changes...Luv, you may have to change your Major to languages so you can edit/translate yourself

I have read nice editions. But this one have is one that is free of copyright and therefore free. And that means the editing is usually pretty shoddy or non existent, since it feels like they just kinda scanned those old books and put them into a kindle compatible format.
If you have other reading suggestions than Arabian Nights, I happily take those too. Gimme allll the folklore and legends

, You get what you pay for, Love but free is free.
Is there a particular culture that you're interested in? I mean Arabic mythology is fascinating, but likewise so is German and Scotland is rife with faerie lore

I know and I fully expected the books not to be like triple A editions^^ I'm just glad I have at least 1 edition of the Arabian Nights ^^
tbh I am interested in any and all folklore, I've read fairy tales from all over the world and I enjoyed it immensely.

I do think that there is a reason we are all "related". Books make a wonderful one true love. I'm more of a flowery woodsy fairy than a fashionable one, but cheesecake is on my list of loves. ;)
You need lots more "me days!" The first year is not a joke with all the tiny neediness. It's awesome, but mama needs sanity breaks. <3

I couldn't agree more with that! I believe he is still going through his 4th leap. 15 days left... sigh Hopefully there isn't another long one like the 4th one...
