I don't want to offend anyone either, but I probably will if I answer that. I mean if your religion has some adherents who have caused problems in the past, and every religion does, it's going to be easier on you if you don't get offended when people mention it... but it still happens...

So as to Christians and the planet and animals and so on, I think it's been that most Christians have supported scientific advancement, but there's always been a large minority of them who try to suppress it, out of fear or disgust... In historical times there were great advancements made by monks (like Albertus Magnus and Gregor Mendel and tons of others) but also attempts by the Catholic church to suppress new knowledge like heliocentrism. The objection by some members of some branches of Christianity to evolution seems like more of the same. The discovery of evolution was by Charles Darwin who was Christian too, studied to be an Anglican parson.

Anyway I suppose there's no point to trying to prevent that but at least most schools, whether religious or secular, do their best to teach accurate information. And it's a good learning experience for kids to find out that not all adults agree on what the facts are, for that matter. Even if it is confusing and frustrating for them at the time.

As for the other question, my son did have a programming or coding class in high school. But I did too back in the early 1980s as an elective (and a little bit of it in my required math class too, which is what got me started as a programmer so it turned out to be a lifetime pursuit for me!)
