based on the achievements it's similar to morostide, we get items for doing something ^^ I've made a WL of all the past years' collectibles I'm keen on xD

Sadly never experienced Morostide :C

right :( During morostide you basically tot at people's houses to get an item :) egg and toilet paper peoples houses are two other options but only to get their achievements. There's a pumpkin patch you can visit for an item :) Also the zapper can grant you new skins :) I'm still missing quite some items when morostide ended xD
