Hello again, students! I have a new HA Challenge for you this week. In this week's challenge we'll be looking into past Triwizard Champions. The Triwizard Tournament dates back to the late 12th and early 13th century and was held every five years. It was discontinued due it's large death toll in 1792, but was brought back in 1994 with some restrictions.

This week's theme is Triwizard Champions.

Choose a known Triwizard Champion or create your own to make a HA of. Tell us about him or her. What school were they representing? They can be from any known wizarding school or from Feedback - International Schools or HA Challenge - Alternative Education. Which schools were they against? Did they win the Triwizard Cup? How did they win? How did they lose?

Some rules for this challenge: 1.) NO HOGWARTS ROBES. 2.) Tell us a brief bio (can be one sentence) of the Triwizard Champion. 3.) Bonus points may be awarded to particularly creative entries!

Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme shall be awarded 10 House Points!

This challenge will end on Monday, August 7th at 11:59PM Subeta time!

Outfit Not Found This is Casandra and she was from Ilvermorny She may have been from North America but she was always interested in the other schools. She studied information from all of the neighboring schools as well as her own school. She won the competition because rather than just trying to beat the other schools she tried to learn all she could from them to make herself better for the competition. She learned new spells that were not typically taught at her school to better understand the community as a whole. That is what the triwizard tourney was about after all. Becoming friends with other schools so that you may lean on your friends to succeed!

Auriga Irma Olsen - Slytherin - Hogwarts

Auriga Irma Olsen was one of the few muggleborns ever sorted into Slytherin. She was naturally shy, but very intelligent and highly ambitious. It was not a difficult decision for her to enter the Triwizard Tournament. It was her seventh year and she figured it would be a way for her to leave a legacy before moving on from Hogwarts. Plus, she rationalized that even if she lost, she'd never have to see any of her classmates again should she choose. At her first task, she was shocked to find all of Slytherin House in the stands with banners and flags showing their support of her. Throughout her entire school career she never made a single friend. While she certainly wasn't bullied, she never reached out to her classmates and vice versa. Olsen went on to win the tournament and though she was still ostracized for being a muggleborn, many witches and wizards after her grew up hearing tales of her cunning and resourcefulness.

Pictured above is Auriga I. Olsen with her familiar, Noka, a krait, who was rumored to be highly venomous and territorial. Many believe she was part of the reason Olsen was never bullied or tormented at Hogwarts - for fear of angering the black krait. When Olsen died in 1876 from dragon pox, Noka passed away just hours after her master due to the no-longer active familiar bond.

Magical Menagerie - Diagon Alley

"Great-Aunt Auri used to say that Noka was the cuddliest most useless snake she had ever seen. She would insist on being carried like a baby everywhere, and when given bits of food from Great-Aunt Auri, she would demand to be fed by hand. Isn't it funny that everyone in Slytherin was scared of her? Great-Aunt Auri made me promise to take you, here, to the Magical Menagerie in hopes that you will find a familiar she loved as much as Noka."

Ambroise de Montauban -- Beauxbatons Academy

Ambroise was always a very clever girl, and she knew that when she came of age, she would put her name into the Goblet of Fire to be a Triwizard Champion. Her cleverness during the tournament is why she was successful -- she knew she was not the strongest competitor nor the quickest, but she was good at thinking quickly on her feet and was a powerful witch nonetheless.

Her friends and family supported her along the way, especially her parents -- they were muggle born, but they knew how impressive it was once Ambroise won.

Outfit Not Found Long ago, in the early times of the Triwizard cup, Hogwarts, Mahoutokoro School of Magic and Uagadou School of Magic competed. Nakht Ata from Uagadou had never seen a dragon before. When the second task was announced that they would have to attempt to ride one, Nakht was very excited. From the moment he first laid eyes on the beasts he was in love. Unfortunately for him, the mother dragon was not inclined to give rides to wizards and defended her nest with fierce and swift claws. The last thing Nakht saw was the baby dragon jumping on him--He heard screams but those soon also ended. (obviously he lost since, you know, he was eaten)

Elias Falk:

A Swedish student from Durmstrang Institute who became a champion for the Triwizard Tournament long ago, he was very talented wizard who was strong in dueling and most dark arts. His sweet innocent look was nothing like his true self, he was cold, determined and ambitious and that was why he put his name on the goblet. He was always seen by his sweet looking cat, Killer, who was said to be as vicious as his owner. Even when Elias had so many strengths he also had weaknesses and not trusting was one of them. Another champion from Hogwarts advice him not to use a certain curse to win the final trial but he thought the student wanted to win himself and used the curse anyway, making him kill one of the professors instead of the troll they had to defeat.

Elias was not only disqualified and lost the tournament, he was arrested for killing and using an unforgivable curse, giving the win to the Hogwarts student instead.

Howahkan Levi Pelletier , the son of a Sioux woman and a french man. He was given a traditional Sioux name to honour his heritage, though he preferred to be called by both names. It was very important to him to balance his heritage out. Howahkan Levi attended Ilvermorny like his mother (his father had attended Beauxbatons) and was sorted into Wampus house. Being a jovial, gentle person, who was also getting along well with animals, he was liked among the students, though he was best friends with a gargoyle gecko named Yahto. With him, he was exploring everything as often as he could as he was restless and always looking for a new adventure.

Howahkan Levi competed in the Triwizard tournament between Ilvermorny, Mahoutokoro and Hogwarts. He passed the first task in a brilliant way, but didn't finish the second one where the champions had to slay a three-headed dog. Being unable to perform such a cruel act, he couldn't earn enough points on the last task to win. Nevertheless, he considers it a greater personal victory to have kept the three-headed dog alive than killing it for glory and fame.

Anders Landvik was born and raised in Norway to a Scandinavian mother and Norwegian father. When he was in his 6th year at Durmstrang, in 1782, the Triwizard Tournament came to their school, and of all the students of age to throw their names into the Goblet of Fire, Anders' name was picked. It was an honor his father had held before him, though he'd lost at his attempt. After a rigorous and almost fatal tournament, Anders came out the victor and took home the wonderful honor of being called Tournament Winner.

Private Outfit Meet Lev Ilyich Mechnikov. During the Triwizard tournament of 1682-1683 Lev (age 15) participated as one of the champions for Koldovstoretz. As the tournament took place at his school the boy had a large advantage and finished second. In the end an older and more experienced student from Durmstrang took the cup. The champions from the third participating school, Castelobruxo finished last. The cold winter was something they could not handle appropriately. Once the boy grew up he became a journalist and part-time auror.

Outfit Not Found Well renowned Academy student Kamila Osiris competed in and claimed victory for her school in a Tri Wizarding Tournament at the turn of the last century. The schools involved were the Alexandrian Academy of the Arcane Arts, Mahoutokoro school of Wizardy in Japan and Uagadou school of wizardy in Africa, held at the Alexandrian Academy. It is said that Kamila received high marks for her interpretation of an ancient alchemic ritual in the first trial. Although her performance of the ritual had a less than desirable outcome, the other Champions struggled to decode the ancient text and were disqualified by default.

Kamila was the first to break the curse her friend had been placed under for the second task. And rumor had it she was even able to befriend the Sphinx designated riddle master of the last trial. Of course this may have had something to do with the fact that her mother was a Magizoologist and had quite possibly provided recommendations of where to acquire a mild mannered Sphinx for the occasion. Although any accusation was quickly brushed off as jealousy or hearsay.

Outside of the tournament Kamila was known for her advocacy of students rights to wear comfortable clothing. After the Tournament she used her fame to spearheaded a project that eventually made it possible for anyone who wanted to wear a midriff to school, able to do so without repercussion.

In her honor there is a statue of her in the largest garden of the Academy featured beside a sphinx, along with a portrait of her in the main entrance hall.

Durmstrang student Alyona Petrov was her school's champion in 1618. She was known for her particularly ruthless nature and approach to the challenges. She excelled in the first challenge but was disqualified in the second challenge, which was an obstacle course. One of the sections included a flying trek over the forbidden forest. It was discovered that she had tampered with an opponent's broom with the intention of depositing her right into a nest of Acromantula.

Hirano Takeshi (Hirano being his family name and Takeshi being his given name)

Takeshi was a student from Mahoutokoro School of Magic in Japan and competed in the 1752 Tri-Wizard Tournament against Russia's Koldovstoretz School and Brazil's Castelobruxo. Takeshi had acheived top marks in every subject offered by his school, causing his enchanted robes to turn golden. This was a great honor and it was no shock that he had been chosen as champion. Though he was powerful, intelligent, and fully qualified to compete, his Headmaster and the rest of his school staff spent their time at the tournament in a state of anxiety. Takeshi had a great amount of pride and ambition. He was known to hold grudges and to get even with those who had wronged him in even the smallest of ways. It was therefore their greatest fear that Takeshi would 'go white' during the course of the tournament, when his desire to win coupled with his temper would push him to use dark magic. To their great relief, this did not happen, possibly because Takeshi was gravely injured during the first challenge and spent the next several months unconscious.

Ubirajara Santos was a Champion for Castelobruxo during the 1656 Triwizard Tournment hosted by the Brazilian school between them, Mahoutokuro and 4A. Quick-thinking, calm under pressure and with a knack for charms, he took the Cup for his school mostly through unconventional tactics, almost being disqualified during his second task. After careful deliberation, the judges ruled that there was no infringement in guiding a berserk Boitata into an Iara-filled stream, only plenty of recklessness, allowing Ubirajara to advance to his third task and eventual winning of the Tournment. He would eventually be considered the best duelist of South America, and return to his old school as a Charms teacher. Till the day of his death, he insisted he had everything under control during that second task.

Fleur Delacour, Beauxbatons

Fleur was a champion in the inaugural reopening of the Triwizard Tournament back in 1994-95, competing against Hogwarts and Durmstrang. She completed the first task assigned, but failed to complete the second (although she was awarded 25 points for her efforts). She was sabotaged in the third task and, well, we all know how that one ended. :/

Outfit Not Found Sandrine Corday - Beauxbatons

Sandrine survived the deadly Triwizard Tournament of 1792. It was hosted by Hogwarts and became the event that cancelled the Triwizard Tournament because of a fatal incident involving a rampaging cockatrice. During the task, all of the champions and the Heads of their schools were injured. Three judges were badly maimed as well, and thirteen people were killed in the stands.

She is interesting not only because of her participation in the Triwizard Tournament, but because of her life outside of it. Sandrine returned to Paris during the height of the French Revolution. As a Muggle-born witch, she used her magic to spy on the bourgeoisie in order to aid the revolution. Her descendants went on to play important parts in the French Resistance during WWII.
