Also, if you're not really looking for specific defensive or offensive options; the which blocks a bit and has a freeze protection blessing, and the which blocks some more and has an anti-stealing blessing; are still in the battle shop. is becoming a bit more expensive now, but the is still dirt cheap and will give you some offensive icons and the chance for a curse.

it's a stupid idea. Back when modifier crystals were first introduced, they were item drops from battle and they dropped to double digit sP prices, because you didn't really use them up. This meant they didn't really serve their "purpose" (and I disagree with that goal) that people not loan "valuable" weapons to other users.

Those who have one battlepet or who are doing nothing here on Subeta but battle want 'things to do' so they continue to fight long past ten wins. Now they want to be rewarded for their compulsiveness and want some kind of official recognition of this. I'm pretty meh about this. My guess is that this is what is going to happen. I think TPTB underestimate just how many crystals will be pumped into the economy.

The question to my mind is will they allow them to still be fragmentized or recycled, because they didn't used to be. Battlers got kinda screwed with the new Battle Loot rarity, because we used to be able to Fragmentize those puppies and now we wait like begging puppies for the Recycle Beast to deign to take our extras.

I didn't find any of the element-specific crystals or baguettes helpful at all - I don't think it's a large loss that they are not as available?

I'm a bit surprised the freeze/thief/heal ones aren't there, but I still didn't find them useful. I'm more surprised that Parched stayed but not Singed - although I guess both are still available as challenger loot from Forj.

I use element mod crystals. My battle strategy against the Pirates this year was seriously screwed and challengers I beat last year just stomped my poor battlepets.

There are some challengers that are weaker to one element than others, and my main weapons have eight chocks for mod crystals. With baguettes all in, that's 24 icons of whatever they're vulnerable to. Some challengers do a whole ton of damage in one icon, and I may not have that one and only one weapon that blocks a thousand of it that was only gettable by the old guard or who got them before the items dropped got nerfed. 24 icons of defense can often make the difference between being able to also use massive attack scrolls or playing on the defensive by spamming Exodin or Cobalt Eternals.

I find curses from Singed or a Crit crystal activating to be more helpful. And with so many freeze-happy opponents (and steal sometimes!), Parched and Natural Blessing activating help in the staying alive part.

I get mad at BHH to, especially when something finally appears and the minute I click on the item its gone. But then I have got some pricey items. Plus I needed that minion for my collection.
