So there's been a bit of a black cloud over Christmas with my family this year and now that I've got my head mostly wrapped around it, I'm sort of just turning to whomever I trust in a request for healing vibes, prayers, or whatever else you can send our way. This past Friday my cousin's little girl - Summer - was diagnosed with leukemia. She's 4 years old, sweet, shy, and so happy to have just recently become a big sister. We're lucky enough to live in an area where we have easy access to top notch research and children's hospitals with excellent programs to assist those who might have trouble affording everything and already this week she's starting treatment. While our family is no stranger to cancer, hospitals, or generally difficult medical situations, childhood leukemia is (thankfully) very new territory and we all know that there's a rough road ahead for the little sunbeam.

So sad to hear this. Thank God we live in a time when lots of cancer victims survive. Praying that Summer comes through this safely.

It is so sad to hear of a child with this dreadful disease an adult know what is going to happen and some can cope.

Not sure if you know I have been battling this thing since 2009 and now just losing the fight with having limited time now but taking each day as it comes. I will keep the youngster in my thoughts and hope she does well through her treatment.

Well I am just back in from shopping went out to buy some Sharpie Pens and Spent £1300 quid I bought a new leather suite as well as the sharpies expensive pens lol

I am sorry for all the worry and stress your family is going through. HOWEVER....! My sister's daughter had cancer when she was 2 is is now a 30+ mother of three and my husband's sister's grand-daughter was diagnosed at 2 with leukemia... she is now finishing college. There is a LOT of recovery and Hope in your future. I wish you and your family calmness and Serenity and Faith. hugs

So sad to hear this. Always more upsetting when something awful happens to a child. Prognosis is good for a child with leukemia though. Keeping her and you all in my thoughts and sending out good vibes.

my heart still hurts for you and for lil suki too...i am SURE she is near you at all times she would NEVER really leave your side..look for signs that she is with you still my beloved friend!

i am so orry for what you all and summer have to go though!! my thoughts of strenght and peace will be with you all i have a young nephew in germeny who is just recently become a survivor of the ssme thing!! it is a tough one but may have good outcome. i have another nephew in the stanford hospital right now for several months awaiting a heart and liver transpant...he cannot leave until he gets them :( it is too awful to try and think about this issu eo we try all to stay positive..

the world sometimes has ways of heping us out.may your summers treatments go as well as they can.

yes she is close to me I have her in an urn on my nightstand next to my bed I am ordering a really nice urn instead of the one they gave me ... I am ordering it on friday I want a nice wooden oak box for her to be in with something nice engraved in the wood I miss her so much it hurts inside I cry every time i think about her being alone when she died and I wasn't there to comfort her when she needed me the most it will always haunt me
