I agree I should have phrased things differently -- as I said above. ( Next time I won't watch the news before I log on.) I also agree my behavior was bad. I usually try to distinguish between behavior and the person. Clearly I failed in that here. I also think I am not alone in acting poorly.
I do think it is bad behavior to rs things to that extreme. Having something on hand to sell to someone who needs it and make a profit is just fine. Who doesn't want to make sP? Hoarding stuff to exploit and gouge your fellow users is a different motivation. Like I said -- I have nothing against people making sP from rsing. I just refuse to accept extreme greed as "normal." It is within the rules and yes -- people have every right to do it, but I do not have to like it. I do not have to stay silent either.
As to your concern about my emotional involvement in the threads I make -- I also made one once asking who popped all the dinkle berries bean bags. A whole thread -- for no real reason at all -- just for fun.
How are you even going to boycott 'rabid' restockers? It's not like items in the shops come with a note that says 'I bought three of this in the shops neener neener gibe me all ur money'. Going by stacks of items don't help either. People could have collected and sold them, or could have gotten multiples of rarer items from vending, questing or multiple different restock grabs.
the content of that thread and your tone were entirely different, though. i'm glad that you recognized that you were too harsh though, because your first post was really unnecessarily rude. :/
unnecessarily because it's not bad behaviour to rs like that. it's just how some people play the game. if you want to avoid going to those shops, fine. but everyone on subeta is aware that there are shops with a shit ton of items in them and if they want to avoid those shops too, fine. but making a thread attacking people for having those shops and encouraging others not to buy from them is just being nasty. and, sure, you can say something about it if you want but you're just being nasty by making this thread and people can tell you that lol
it's not extreme greed. it just isn't.
I see the same shop names over and over again with hundreds or even thousands of items -- of EACH item. If someone has tons of just one or even some different thing/s -- those aren't the shops I'm talking about. Some users just like to RS books, for example, that's their thing. They end up with WAAAY too many so they sell a bunch. lol That doesn't bother me. I have no issues with that.
EDIT:
You don't think it is bad behavior -- I do. We have different opinions and that's okay. You are free to encourage people to rs items by the thousands, and I am free to discourage it. We often don't think about our actions -- probably just part of being human -- so I think it is good to make a conscious effort when and where we can. I am simply urging others to do the same. I am going to try and be more aware of where I am spending my sP to try and encourage what I think is more positive behavior in others. Just as you are. We just don't have the same perspective is all.
@ bonita Okay, but how do you know they just snagged it on restocks? My friend and I usually wait until our shops are completely full before using our GA. It wouldn't surprise me if I get hundreds of a certain item between popping gas from vending, and I'm sure I'm not the only person who does this.
Also, what's wrong with people having hundreds of a certain book? It lowers the price and makes it easier for me to make money when I do quests since they keep the price down. If you want to pay 20k more per a book that's only worth 400sp just because the user has 99 instead of 101 in stock, be my guest.
Also, now that I think about it, a lot of people who sell multiples of items sell them for cheap. So by boycotting them to fight 'greed', you'd be giving money to people who charge more per item more often than not. AKA: Benefiting greedy people.
I'm still kind of wondering why you're so convinced it's all obtained via restocking?
You can get items from vending too. And from the mystery box, if you're determined (or bored) enough. If it doesn't sell and you keep it up, it piles up over time.
The only time it actually gets super annoying is when someone prices a stack of 100+ items at 70% off or more in shop search. Or when you absolutely need to buy an item, but someone falsely inflated them and is trying to sell 'em off. Even then, things sort themselves out after a few days.
I understand the complaint, it's just... I 'onno. Feels odd going "RAH-RAH, LET US ALL BOYCOTT THE BAD GREEDY ONES!" when... we're all literally doing what we can to make sP on the site. :X Some people are just smarter, more determined and more persistent about it than others.
.-. if it was just a difference of opinion that'd be fine. it's that you're still saying those people are showing "bad behaviour" which is insulting. they're just playing a god damn game. if you wanna make a conscious effort to improve the world maybe do something actually important?
or even
Vending might leave you with piles of stuff -- but not the quantities I'm talking about. I used to vend the max daily when I had a GA -- and these days I do the wait-until-the-shop-is-full-before-using-a-GA medal, so I get what you're talking about. I have no problems with that. LOTS of people do that. It's just gathering junk to sell. No big deal. We all do that. Vending the max daily isn't going to give you thousands of the same item unless you've been vending for years and never sold one thing.
Some people just rs non-stop. It is a different approach. They buy thousands of a single item. Multiply those thousands by the up to two thousand different items in these shops and then you see the quantities I'm talking about -- amounts that make the servers groan. lol
Does that help clarify what I'm talking about? I know what I mean, but I'm not always great at expressing what I mean to others.
Guys, calm down. You can discuss this without being mean to each other :(
It's odd to me that this bothers you so much. :/ Personally I really don't care where people gained thousands of items from but achievements and other sources required users to hoard long ago. That was an actual site thing to do. For some people it still is - does it mean they're doing it to deliberately 'gouge users'? No...it doesn't.
Wow! It seems bonita is really getting shamed for voicing her opinion. Would that not be bad behavior by itself???? The act of shaming not the act of stating one's personal opinion.
Overall on a game this is all such a non issue (in my opinion) that I can't believe I actually spent my time reading this thread but I did. My Choice.
In the real world it could be an issue in disaster situations. The hoarding of water bottles to resell at an realistically inflated price. Making money vs people's health is a real issue in the real world.
On any game site it truly doesn't make sense (to me) to give it any thought or energy. Buy it or not is everyone's choice on a game site. Who you buy from is also your choice.
Attacking someone for speaking their mind anywhere is an issue in my thinking. Revealing your thoughts takes courage. There were no vicious words used. I can't help but think it may have hit home a bit too close for some people. Perhaps the way they play the game reflects how they would act or would act if they could in real life away from the computer games. Defensive reactions sometimes cover guilt. Please note the word sometimes.
This is a game. If my grandparents were alive, I would certainly be calling them. Miss them every day. Every hour I'm awake I think of them and wish I could share some thought or joke or beautiful image with them. My parents are close enough that we can speak every day. Many people (the parents or the children) aren't lucky enough to hear the voices of the people they love. And, sadly, some don't want to for various reasons.
Repeat, this is a game. I consider shaming/attaching someone for having the courage to voice their thoughts to be worse behavior than someone venting regarding what they consider unfair acts.
Enjoy the site. Follow the rules.
Just noticed the date on the thread....sorry if I'm past the date for adding a comment.
As long as you don't post on a thread that is over 3 months old you are fine!
I wish I had seen this sooner. is a sweet heart and would never intentionally hurt someone's feelings. We all have bad days where we don't act our best and say things we regret later. Sometimes we just need to vent to feel better. We don't all have to agree, but attacking someone just because you don't like their opinion or the way they voiced their opinion is also not right =/ This is also the bragging and complaining board where it's meant for people to vent out frustrations. She didn't name any names and wasn't targeting a player. She also acknowledged the fact that she could have worded things differently but got caught up in the heat of the moment.
That being said, I most of the times like when people have a lot of one item because it stops from inflation of items. Like for example, if someone has 2k of an item priced at 40k, then chances are very unlikely that the item price will sell for more than 40k. If anything, it will sell for even less if multiple people price the same item in their shops. What annoys me is when an item is cheap and people buy up all the cheap items only to turn around and sell them all for 4 times as much. It's not against the rules to do that but it personally irritates me. I just wait for the hype to die down around the item and wait for the prices to drop again.
I'm just cracking up at 's misanthropic comment that he hates every single player on subeta anyway! In my twelve some-odd years playing subeta, I can say honestly that you get what you give out of this site. There are amazing users here that you can get in contact with or completely hermit yourself from the social side of subeta. To stay on topic, when I'm buying things from user shops I either take the cheapest or the shop with the least amount of some item unless I'm buying for recycle beast. Then I buy anything that's not already been bought until I'm at my threshold for recycle beast items. I don't hoard much of anything in my shops or vaults unless, again, it's a constant recycle beast item (random items) or from a holiday event (pumpkins, flowers, etc) That being said, I respect for her opinion and I found humor in her 'get a hobby, play a game' comment because...well, that's what we're all doing on subeta. Playing a game, a hobby.

why was I pinged back here because of a comment from over a month ago
Also lol "hate every single player?" I don't believe I ever said that. Dislike ≠ Hate I'm glad it amused you though ;)

For what it's worth, a lot of folks who have a ton of duplicates in their stores get those specifically because they're clicking the Magic Box all day. If you cross-check some of the store owners with the top restockers list, there's often no correlation which means those items aren't coming from NPC stores (at least not exclusively).
Given that I have seen, very recently, a question on the boards from the OP author about spending millions at the Magic Box....uh...welcome to the club of those who have tons of MB duplicates?
The thing, there is a massive difference in "just venting" and downright calling people "rabid" and implying they don't have a life.
The first one is acceptable. The second one goes against the forum code of conduct.
I like pinging people so they know their post on a public forum has a reply (why else post unless you expect a response?) and your profile mentions you may quit soon so I figured it was a shot in the dark. Sorry for this second ping -- I figured a comment on your profile would be much more destructive to your hermitage, plus I could be breaking one of your three commenting rules if I squint too hard.
To stay ON TOPIC: I have been paying a bit more attention to prices in my shop now bc of severely cut prices thanks to this thread. I don't care how many items a shop has, really, so long as there isn't a ridiculous devaluation of prices. Now I'm wary of autocorrected prices that drop too much too quickly in order to undercut the most recently fair-priced shop's price.

this reminds me of neopets back in the time.
Like said, it's the bragging and complaining and we have the right to agree/disagree with someone's opinion, amirite? But remember it's not bragging, harrasing and offending. It's not targeted, but it's kinda rude even for me, someone who hasn't autopriced in ages.
You can stockpile all you want. There have been events on this kind of stuff - and there have been hoarders who won millions because of these events and other site features (Reading Drive, Recycle Beast, Fragmentizer, Quests on a lower side) that target item amount reduction but there is the daily limit of 250/500 vend items per day, per user and that might be less than what every user frag/quest/recycle so it's kinda like hoarding is encouraged. Not to mention that it isn't written anywhere on the Site Rules when it comes to "hoarding is forbidden", even though this is a bit stressful to the site servers, and these features I mentioned earlier serve to cut down these hoards by turning them into other stuff (sP, shop points) so it's like you're not gonna get frozen for that then it's good.
sidenote: munches on popcorn
I usually do all my quests and shove everything into my vault and I restock items and I'll throw it all in my shop until like a couple of months when I get thousands of items I'll toss them into my shop to see how much I make. I won't lie I am guilty of sometimes looking for things that will retire soon and I'll buy a couple of them to make profit off of the item but anyways I agree with you sometimes when I see an item I really want and someone has like 10 or more of that item priced high it makes me annoyed a bit :D I guess I got a dose of my own medicine haha.
