Magnus smiled at the idea of niffler-bees. "That's neat. I didn't know they were attracted to magic."
"The Nifflers only like goodies but the speeding bees feed on magic." Merlin laughed. "I just imagined a Niffler-bee, probably called the Beefler." Merlin laughed but normally only he would laugh at his own jokes. "Sorry."
Tamsin was listening but wanted to ask about what happened before. "You still haven't told me about those scales."
"And I don't have to." Merlin replied a bit sharply, he still haven't forget the damage to the forest.
"Beeflier," he snickered, "'as a nice ring to it." Mags was surprised Tamsin hadn't asked him though he had no intention of telling Merlin's secret.
Tamsin felt a bit hurt with Merlin's reply but didn't insisted. "Just was worried about you and I thought we were friends."
Merlin sighs and bends down. "There are hooves tracks over here, maybe more centaurs..unless...we are close to a unicorn." He looks at magnus. "That my friend is the most glorious sight and I am sure everyone would love to see it, just that they keep away from everyone."
"Especially boys and werewolves," Magnus finished for him. "What would you like to do? Try to quietly edge towards 'em--silencing our footprints?"
((now that the wardrobe finally let me finish the HA assignment, I can play! Did my lesson first though, Merls!! 😄))
Drew had stayed quiet while following along with the group. He wasn't going to deny that he was glad to see Lee and Lottie leave. Good riddance, the boy thought. House loyalty be damned, he'd not be so trusting again. At Mags' question, Drew had nodded. Without Lee and Lottie maybe things would be alright, and he wasn't leaving his friend.
Moving closer to Magnus and Merlin, he said softly, excitement tinging his voice, "A unicorn?? Really??"
Magnus gave Drew a smile, he was happy the boy was talking again. "Possibly, probably. Me senses are overloaded. Adults aren't keen on boys though."
"Oh...well...'fraid I can't fix that," Drew said with a little smile. "I am what I am." then growing more serious, he said, "I hope they won't mind too much. I'd love to see one."
"Nor can I. But I can stay back further if needed--adults probly won't be keen on me given I'm a werewolf.
"As long as we can at least see them, it will be good," Drew said. Then he had a thought. "Is there like a potion or a charm or something that would disguise the smell?" he asked. "I know you can use certain scents to mask your scent from deer."
Merlin was glad Drew was in talking terms again, he was sure after all he went through he rather would have leave but he stayed. "Well if it is an unicorn, we can watch from afar. There is no way to go pet them because they will leave. Disguising our smell could work to a certain degree. We should stay still if we do see one."
"I've seen 'em so its okay. Brought 'em to care of Magical Creatures. 'Ad an adult there that didn't mind males so much. Everyone seemed to like 'em. But I don't know about scents being masked... I mean I'm kinda like the big bad wolfy...no pun intended---so they probly won't be fooled with me. You know wolf in Magnusclothing." He shifted on the balls of his feet. And saw the patch of silver. In a whisper, "look, I think they are unicorns over there." Could they see it? He wasn't sure but he'd keep back in case. (if it is unicorns should we ping everyone?)
((I'm doing really bad with the pings, if u can do it for me. I'm on my phone now and it's a pain)
Merlin looked at Drew and smiled. "I think they are, I've seen them once before but just a glimpse." He tried to stay very stil but whispered. "Do you see it Drew? Tamsin? Everyone? Now this was worthy of a selfie"
((Hope I got everyone. Also love the ha Merls XD))
He could see the unicorns. There was at least 2 babies, their golden bodies shinning brightly. The pure white/silver adults were so bright they hurt Magnus' eyes and the boy backpeddled a little so as not to spook them.
Drew froze and looked where the other two boys were indicating. "Selfie nothing," he whispered. "this is something to be enjoyed in full with only your eyes and memory, not a stupid device." He watched the shimmery patch become an actual unicorn...no more than one. Drew's eyes widened and his breath caught in his throat at the majesty of the animals. He watched in silent awe the greatest scene the young horse/animal lover had ever beheld.
Merlin was staring in awe and didn't say another word so he could just enjoy the view.
Tamsin was also quiet and had a tear down her cheek. "Wish mother could see this." The forest was always magical but at that instant it felt surreal.
[Edit] Merlin giggled at Drew's comment. "You are absolutely right, nothing like your own eyes and memory."
As the others enjoyed the scene, Magnus was giving himself a hug as he kept further back so the unicorns didn't catch his scent. This also meant his view was gone. He was glad they got to see them though so he wasn't going to complain. He'd act as a look out.
Drew spared a glance at Tamsin at her comment and he noticed that Magnus had withdrawn. Looking down at Dodger, who was sitting quietly, used to horses and knowing better than to chase them, Drew slowly so as not to attract attention, knelt and whispered in his dog's ear. Dodger cocked his head but then eased his way over to Magnus and nudged the boy's hand with his nose, letting him know he wasn't alone.
((Ooc:last for tonight, I'm going to sleep))
Merlin turned to thank Magnus when he didn't see him but carefully turned to see him draw back. "You don't have to hide, I doubt their sense of smell is as good as yours." He smiled and look back to the scene. "These forest is sacred"
