That is just mind blowing! It amazes me all these people who say they'll fight for their country etc but won't do what they can to protect the vulnerable around them.

Might have to bring the kids on a road trip, haha!

You'd be surprised, I'm damned if I do-damned if I don't. Most people keep their words to themselves most of the time, but my town has a tendency to be quite...diametrically split? Annnd both sides are quite vocal when ticked off. I'm more on the conservative side, but I've seen some pretty crazy hard rights as much as crazy hard lefts here. Anyways, it's usually Karens and Richards who pipe up on the mask issue, I've been told I 'don't need them'/'It's all fake'/'Have to wear them it's the law'/'You're infecting people if you don't wear them!' So yeah, I've seen both sides and just gave up and shrug my shoulders now.

Right? I'm just looking at alot of them like '...Okay, so if you actually have such severe asthma that a doctor says masks are causing you respiratory distress, then you have a reason to whine, but otherwise, do you know HOW many jobs have to wear masks constantly??' Doctors, nurses, dentists, dental hygienist, nail salons, tattoo artists, dog groomers, deep cleaners, sewage workers, construction workers, landscapers, miners, lab researchers, many different types of factory workers, and that's just off the top of my head, there's probably many many more. And yet you guys can't handle alittle while? I get it, I hate my masks, I wear glasses, I constantly deal with fogging (I really need to buy a de-fogging gel), but I need them if I don't wanna be in absolute hell from the next few days from allergies, and I really don't need the rona with my parents, Granny, or myself. (with my weak lungs, despite the fact I'd probably survive, it wouldn't be easy at ALL.)

My favorite is people who pull the mask down to talk. I'm kinda silly, and when no-one is around I'll pull the mask down for a moment to release some of the built up heat and take in a cooler breath of air, before pulling it back up, basically acting like some kind of breaching whale. But when I'm around people or having to talk to them, I just put up with it. Then I see these other people yank their masks down to talk to someone and I'm all like '....You just took away the whole point of the mask.' I'm starting to carry around a bingo card with all the various wrong ways to wear a mask that I see people do, I usually have it filled out as soon as I leave the grocery store.

I find it hilarious how I feel so strongly about people not wearing face mask, I do apologize if I sound a bit intense at times LOL That said, I really despise using it because I feel so much heat in my face (so I usually take it off for a second, then put it back on. LOL But I wear it anyway when going out, even if just to the store -nods-

, fun thing though.... wearing face masks does not make you receive less oxygen than not wearing them. I've seen the videos, hubby's shown me... wearing the mask and putting on the Pulse Oximeter displayed no changes in the oxygen as when he had shown with him not wearing it!

Worst I've seen is people going out and about, with the face mask in the elbow XD

I can relate to foggy glasses, haha! My newest mask has been decent though and Silvy showed me a trick which seems to help a lot too!

I mean, it's pretty easy to be honest. :P But he had his wife and at least a few kids in the truck with him, so I think that makes it pretty easy!

I feel like everyone hates them, because they're awful and awkward, but most people know that they need to wear them for the good of everyone else.

Most. People. :P

I have a growing collection of masks myself. I'm on the fence, do I really think they help, on a personal level, not really, on a cold day you can still see your breath through the masks, they're not medical after all but rules are rules so I'll wear em' and besides, I'm not wearing them for my benefit, its for those who are compromised after all. But if I have to wear em' might as well spice it up :D I have kitty masks for the vet clinic, dino masks for the museum and plant/scale/space masks for every day use heh

That's nice ! I have been considering on getting a mask with designs, but since I hardly take photographs, I haven't :P I wouldn't use them on daily basis since they don't come with filters, so I'd stick with the blue surgery masks haha

It is unfortunate that in the US there has been so much misinformation and confusing PSA from the government and media around effectiveness of masks and recommendations.

fwiw, I also stick to disposable surgical masks. They're not as pretty, but I do not trust cloth masks to be as effective. I suspect cloth masks or even a bandana should be better than nothing though.

Masks are starting to be mandatory here in Australia, right now it's only in Victoria, but we feel it may become that way in New South Wales. Masks are recommended in shopping centres, grocery stores, and public transport. We have our masks ready for when they do become mandatory. All of them are washable/reusable ones. They also pass Bill Nye's test...and the child in me that watched his show was like "YAY Science!"

I also stick to the blue surgical masks, I find they're a lot more comfortable than the cloth ones.

That being said, the girls and their grandma have collectively sewn over 550 masks and they've donated them to the church, their schools (for the teachers and so on who were handing out the breakfasts and lunches), to several senior centers, etc.

They were especially great when masks were hard to come by, now it's a bit easier. I will ALSO say though, I hate that they're single use and throw them away, it always makes me feel bad. Generally I try and avoid all single use items.

There was a hair salon where one lady had covid, she gave it to her coworker (no mask on break or something). 169 customers and not a single one of them tested positive. To me that is a terrific example of how well they work to catch droplets etc :)

I have cloth masks, but we clean them per the CDC recommendation and we have a LOT so we can cycle them out etc. Even got the kiddo some cute ones that will also help keep his ears warm this winter. Companies sure are getting creative xP

Wow that's amazing! Big Kudos to your girls (and their grandma!) for being so amazing!

The biggest thing with the cloth masks is that the size of the coronavirus, if the cloth mask is made PROPERLY, it should not make through a double barrier. Now, that won't stop other viruses/bacteria that are smaller, and definitely not stop air. They do the job, they're not as good as surgical masks which are made to keep out WAY more than just the 'rona. But what we're looking for is keeping out the 'rona, so they'll do fine for most joe-blows.

Though like I said, I was way stocked up on masks waaaaaay before the crisis started, so I can chose between cloth or surgical depending on what I feel like though I use the cloth ones more. That and knowing some pharmacists also helps get me some goodies that others might not get a hold of usually....

ANYWAYS.

As an asthmatic, most people that have the 'severe asthma' that doctors prescribe against wearing a mask are of two reasonings: They got a doc who was tired of hearing them b*tch and wrote it to shut them up/OR it's not actually asthma but a possibly a panic response to having the mask on the face (it does happen weirdly enough). One other might be due to allergies to the masks themselves, but again, those are about the only real reasons I can think might warrant it.
