It's nice to read through all of the favorite memories and things!
Favorite song: I like quite a few. Silent night and Mary did you know are my favorite
Favorite movie: The Santa Clause - I love it always have.

Favorite Memory: Being about 5 or six and waking my older sisters up super early to open presents. We weren't allowed to open them until mom and dad got up, but we could open stockings. So they would get up with me. I set between them under a big comfy blanket. We opened our stockings together, watched the macy's parade and snuck christmas cookies. Latter that day it snowed and we went sledding with dad in the woods behind our house. We got turned around in the woods and thought we would never find our house. Dad started telling us these crazy made up stories to distract us. Took us forever to find the house, but it was so much fun.

My favourite holliday song and movie are actually connected to each other: It's "Love Actually" for the movie part and "All I want for Christmas is you" by Mariah Carey because of the movie.

My favourite memory is from Christmas... maybe 5 years ago. It was the gift I got from my granny, which made me cry and no gift on any occasion before or after made me cry. My granny gave me, the youngest and most irresponsible out of her 4 granddaughters a bracelet made out of gold. It is very old, because she got it as a gift from my grandfather when he first had to go abroad for work. Each time he went away again he bought another gold charm for her bracelet. From Spain she got a golden bull, from the Netherlands a golden windmill and so on. The charms are very old, most of them have scratches, dents and lost parts, but for me it's the most beautiful thing I own. She wore it all those years even though she is that kind of granny, who wears lots of emeralds, diamonds and stuff like that. But that little bracelet was so precious to her that she wore it for maybe 50 years. And receiving something that means so much to her was... just overwhelming.

Crap, I got my days screwy and never participated in the elf one. :'(

, my favorite Christmas movie is "A Christmas Story" because it reminds me of my dad. He would watch this over and over again when it was on cable, no matter how much of it he had already missed. It was hard to watch the year he passed, but eventually I was able to get through it without TOO much crying. I added it to my collection a couple of years ago so I can watch it with or without cable (I prefer the DVD since there's no commercials!!).

- my favorite songs are the ones that are more about family (No Place like Home for the Holidays and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas), but the one I have the most feelings about is Baby It's Cold Outside, both on the liking and hating side, since that can be the absolute creepiest song ever or it could be the cleverest song depending on how it's being portrayed. Even in the very movie it debuted in it's shown BOTH ways . Soooo, it's not a favorite, but its the one I think about the most. I guess that's the good ol' English major in me. Over analyzing the everloving life out of every form of the written word.

Then as for memories - when I was little, we (my mother, my brother, and I) lived with my grandparents, so Christmas was always so cozy. It was my favorite holiday just because of how much family effort there was to it - putting up the tree, decorating the tree, wrapping presents, family coming from great distances to see us...and bring presents >D. But my absolute favorite things were these three bells my grandma had, and this old tree skirt she'd had since she was young. The bells I just loved because they were shiny and pretty and made nice noises and I pretended to make music though I'm pretty sure I was just pissing everyone off, oopsie, but that tree skirt...it was gorgeous, and there's nothing like it out there now either. It depicted a whole snowy holiday village, with people shopping and skating and caroling. So many times I got lost in my imagination looking at that tree skirt (I was always one of those kids that could lay around and just daydream for hours).

I'm sorry to hear the holidays are wearing on you ): I hope things can calm down and pick up positively for you again soon ; ; <3

As for this event -- working retail in a mall has pretty much destroyed my love for most Christmas music, but I can't help singing and snapping my fingers along to "All I Want For Christmas (Is You)" by Mariah Carey >> It's a classic...

Christmas memories in general sting a little to think about because we always used to do it with my grandparents, and my grandma passed a few years ago now and my grandpa has since pretty much exited my parents' and my lives... But I always used to love watching those ABC family movies that were created with stop motion and stuff, like The Year Without a Santa Claus ; v ;

NBC used to be one of my go to films. Still a favorite and a classic but it's one I watch on October 31st and November 1st to kick off the season.

Elf is so very much loved in my house as well. :)

oh I love Home Alone but only the first two. After that, it gets weird, haha.

which Grinch? The animated or the real life one? I really ought to re-watch them both, perhaps I'll watch them over the weekend, thanks for the reminder!

haha, thank you for sharing all three! :) I haven't heard of your song (don't think so anyway but I added it to my holiday mix). That memory is so sweet, cherish it, forever. Your Nana sounds awesome!

wow, I didn't think it snowed in Vegas at all, that's so neat! Sounds like last year you had a very magical White Christmas. Can't say I've ever been fortunate but the weather folks here were hinting we might but I never listen, lol.

oh the Santa Claus trilogy? Those are on my list to watch on Christmas Eve. :)

the Polar Express is a very well done movie even if it has been over 10 years. The story and the animation was really thought out and put into perspective.

I think I know which one you're referring to, I just saw a ping from a friend of mine and her giveaway but didn't really pay much attention, lol.

your lighting of the candles sounds so serene and wonderful, perhaps next year I will take part and celebrate Hannakuh. I truly admire the different celebrations that take place this time of year.

sounds like a very wonderful memory to share in, I hope you still play that vinyl! :)

haha, yeah I love the trilogy of the Santa Claus movies. Tim Allen is a good Santa character.

oh my I am dying here with laughter, haha. That's an awesome story and I thank you for sharing! Sorry that you were terrified of Santa but on one hand I can't say I blame you. I mean, c'mon the dude is pretty much a stalker and we're supposed to be okay with it, hahahaha.

I will add your tune to my holiday mix as I've not heard of it, I don't think. :)

good old Rudolph is definitely a hit, don't know what I'd do if they remade the classic version. Probably cry.

sounds like your family had a wonderful Christmas morning opening stockings and watching the parade (I miss those days).

awww, I'm in tears and I just wish I could hug your granny for being such a doll! Sounds like she knew it would touch your heart to have something so precious and sentimental. โค

did he ever mention why that film was so special to him? I'm glad you have a copy of it so that you can watch it any time of year.

lol, okay so lets not talk about the song then. :) The tree skirt sounds very lovely for it to have kept you intrigued all those years. What ever happened to it? I hope it's still around!

I feel ya working retail during the holidays is daunting and horrifying. I worked a few years back to back as a photographer for the Easter/Santa set up that you can find in most malls. I hope you take some time to visit and love on your grandpa, perhaps he's just a tad bit lonely now that your grandmother is not around. ((hugs))

Thank you all for the love and support y'all are some of the best folks on the internet. Keep on being awesome! Stay safe and warm (or cool if you're in a warmer climate) this weekend. I'll check in later. Have a good one!

beat me to Die Hard!! xD

I haven't really got much in the way of Christmas memories as I grew up in a family that didn't do holidays/birthdays, so I'm still learning how to do the Christmas thing, really.
My main memories are just setting up the tree with my kids each year and watching them open their gifts on the big day.
The movies and music are all a bit much.. I have trouble getting this whole magic and christmas spirit thing. I'm trying :)

Maybe it was something to do with how even when I was little, I thought that an old man asking you to sit on his lap was a little creepy. And that he did it to every kid in the world. And yeah, that he also watched those kids year round. A was a bit cynical even as a kid :'D

Kinda late to this last leg of the party. I'm feeling a bit worn atm as well and still so much to do.

My favorite holiday movies are Scrooge (1970 musical), A Muppet Christmas Carol and White Christmas. All musicals really.

Favorite songs is hard because I love so many, but I'll pick I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas because it makes my mom smile. :)

One of my favorite memories is, because we did bigger gifts Christmas Eve and stockings on Christmas Day when I was little, we would get sent out with dad to look at Christmas lights while santa and his elves came and got everything ready for us. When the weather was bad we'd have to sit in on of my brothers rooms keeping occupied while the elves did their work, which we could hear. lol I don't recall at what age I was when that changed but I think even when I was a teen we kept the tradition and didn't stop until we were not living in the house I grew up in anymore.

lol ask for one, get all three ๐Ÿ˜Š
