I opened all my giftboxes, OK what am I supposed to do with most of that? I could sell it or donate or give them to buds...
While humans are capable of beautiful things, it is rare at best. Tonight was an example. One of.my brothers had a fallout with our mother over moving out. While taking his last things, my mother asked them to leave the room open and unlocked. As his lady friend ignored her and locked that door, my mother couldn't hold back and almost managed to attack her. I could barely react to grab her to keep her from making things worse.
For the first time I defended my mother from a bad turnout, and she questions why I restrained her. I didn't want them to have any ammunition to use against us. I finally know what it means to honor her. I won't be forgetting this.

HOLIDAY JOKES
A customer walks into the store looking for Christmas lights. The worker showed her their top brand, but—wanting to make sure each bulb worked—she asked him to take them out of the box and plug them in. He did, and each one lit up. "Great," she said. The worker carefully placed the string of lights back in the box. But as he handed them to her, she looked alarmed. "I don’t want this box," she said abruptly. "It’s been opened."
As we were putting out cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve, I accidentally dropped one. "No problem," I said, picking it up and dusting it off before placing it back on the plate. "You can’t do that," argued my four-year-old. "Don’t worry. Santa will never know." He shot me a look. "So he knows if I’ve been bad or good, but he doesn’t know the cookie fell on the floor?"
A waitress at our restaurant had a change of clothes stolen from the break room. Making matters worse, she’d planned on wearing them to the Christmas party. As a brand-new employee, I didn’t know any of this backstory, so I was a bit surprised to find this indignant note posted on the community board: "It has been two weeks since the Christmas party, and I still have not found my clothes." Will add more later when I can. :)

That sounds like a rough situation. But you respected your mom and restrained her from doing something that wouldn't be a good thing to do, that's a nice human thing to do. A non human wouldn't have done that.

Yes, none of us is staying in Berlin right now. (I do have quite some friends in Berlin but they all seem to be "safe")
