We had two budgies together at one point, the other birds we only had one. :) Yes, we had several throughout the years. mostly budgies, but also a lovebird I think the english name for them are. . :) Looked like a small, green parrot.. with loads of red around its head.

awww lovebirds look really sweet :D A family friend had a couple of them, but they move soon after they got them so we didn't get to see them much :P

I think they must have hatched in the winter last year because of their age when we got them, but they were probably kept heated as babies. ;) I love what you have done with the new year's items today! I am not completely certain, but I think it may have been diet related. =( I was always told by breeders etc. that pellets were the best base diet for all parrots (including the breeder I got Jellybean from). However, I was doing some research yesterday after she passed, and apparently there are new studies that say that a mostly pellet diet can cause problems for smaller birds. 😢 Pellets have a lot of concentrated vitamins and nutrients, and smaller parrots apparently don't take in enough water to process them all, so they can get kidney failure. =( I am looking into switching to a different base diet now for our cockatiel and budgie, as I don't want the same thing to happen to them. I have heard recently that sprouted seeds are great for small parrots, so I might try those. I feel so bad because I thought that I was giving them the best type of food. =(

She had a big personality for sure, Julie as we called her. :) Loved to sit on top of a magazine or newspaper and trim the paper with her beak. :P She only liked a select few people tho, and could bite if she didnt care for you. :P

I've seen a lot of conflicting information about pellets for small birds - some people say they're fantastic, and others avoid them like the plague o.O But that would be a real shame if that was the reason she passed :( All of my budgies have had a pure seed diet (which a lot of bird forums say is horrendous for them), Sid was the first one to get any carrot included in that. I did see a mention of sprouted seeds on the website we used for the cw colours, although I've never tried that myself! Hopefully it'll work to try it out with your other birds, and they'll like the taste of it!
