I've been to the Netherlands when I was in my 20's, I liked Amsterdam very much, though the language was beyond me, I'm afraid. May I say that your English is excellent and it really is a complex language. If I may butt in on a different convo negotiating salary bites, if you go to high they'll be looking elsewhere and if you go too low they'll take advantage of you. My Boss was salaried and in Ca, a salaried position has to be doubled minimum wage, so for her position she should have made at least $20/hour, they ofered her $17 and she jumped at it because to her it was a lot of money (she's from New York which has a much lower cost of living)

I lived in the more rural part of the Netherlands for most of my life. When I came out here I also accepted something I though was OK, but turns out everything over here was more expensive, so it wasn't really that good. But that job came with good possibilities for growth so I quickly started to earn more. It's really hard to value your own worth. I've tried to do some research, to see what people with similar education and experience make, but the range is just so big that it doesn't really say anything at all. Sometimes when I see vacancies with a much higher estimated salary, I think I earn way too little for what I do, but compared to what I used to earn, my current wage still sounds like a lot of money to me. And of course they will always talk you down during the negotiation, because that's in their best interest. With cultural difference I mean that the Kenyan people seem more laid back and far less about rules. My company is trying to close some finance deals in Kenya, but we need their data before we can say anything on the financial arrangements. I'm the person responsible for structuring and analyzing the data, and I'm really having a hard time with it. We are used to such high quality data and over there they just make due with what they have, which is not really structured at all. But I do agree with you in that everyone I've spoken to is really polite and well mannered.

Thank you! Their recruiter is now trying to see if they can get me a year contract and match my current salary. If he can arrange that I will happily take the job, because I'm pretty fed up with my current situation.
