The other challengers are actually old ones that are being reused for this event. That's why they don't have loot with them.

You should be able to play the games to catch up, if you get the minimum scores. They count more than once while we're at camp.

I'm buying up things just in case. I figure if I don't need them, I can frag them after the plot, but if I DO need them I'll be glad I did.
