This exactly. It's really demoralizing and takes away some of the satisfaction of the effort it took to get so far in the first place.

I edited my FAQ post to double check what was going on. Don't get me wrong, I love the lead and we've been screwed over by weather a couple of times, but this seems absurd. It's not as fun if they're super frustrated by getting wind twice in the first hour of the competition. We're up 4% right now which is insane!

Buuuut let's do our best to maintain that lead. Vote for speed boost if you haven't already guys! And let's hope for some good weather next :)

Even if it was like a negative-boost - eg. slowed you down by 10% for however long - that would be a bit more do-able.

That's the thing right? It's supposed to be totally random obstacles, could be just bad luck of the draw. But in one leg for us to have absurd back-to-back obstacles and lots of shitty weather and then another to have nothing but battles for a while (and the swarms suck for people who don't battle), and then for them to get wind TWICE in a row right at the beginning of a leg? That just seems like really bad luck

I've wondered for a couple of days now if there was a slight thumb on the scale.

That's a good question, especially because right now, there doesn't appear to be very much difference between the teams. We're literally working toward the same goal. Maybe it will make sense with a little bit more plot revealed?

Well technically our team is trying to stop the other team from getting to the top first so they don't take the gold and unleash a curse or something. So heading towards the same place, but different reasons.

I'm just wondering if they want it to go a certain way for the sake of the story, and the actual competitiveness is partly a facade.

Perhaps these things aren't random. If I am correct, both teams have won the same amount of "challenges". Gold has beat us to the top, while we won more NPCs. Maybe, just maybe, Team Blake is supposed to get to the top first, so that Gold can win the next NPC? As someone has commented on the news post:

That's my take on it, too. We've been trading off wins ever since we started and while I'm okay with our wins, it seems...awfully symmetrical.

I'm positive it ties into the plot somehow.

I was thinking the same thing. I bet we are first to camp this time and Team Gold gets the next NPC. Then they are next to camp first. Not sure how many times we are going to do the trail.
