"For new students, you can see that when we entered the common room, I had to answer a riddle. This will be the same every time you try to enter the common room. If you do not answer the riddle correctly, you will have to wait until another student answers correctly."

She waves to a table nearby.

"The Houselves have been kind enough to bring up some tea, butterbeer, and pumpkin juice for you today. Enjoy while you can. This will not be an everyday luxury."

She walks out of the common room without another word. Weird, she didn't even mention any divinations this time.

Aderyn shrugged off professor Trelawney's eccentricity as the professor left the room with an air of aloofness. Heading for the table, she picked up a butterbeer and immediately bee lined for her favorite chair by the fireplace. Dropping down into it she sighed happily, feeling at home in the common room. Glancing around, she waved to old friends and new house mates alike.

the Ravenclaw common room was just a compfy and nice looking as the Gryffindor one was and Magnus beamed happily. It was nice being with so many of his friends. He grabbed a butterbeer and found a chair near Aderyn. It threatened to swallow him whole with its ultra compfiness. "Wow," he remarked with a laugh, "these are really nice chairs."

Gaia was late to welcome the new Ravenclaws as she had been held back a little talking to some of the professors. She was happy to see Aderyn () was in the common room already. "Hey guys!" with a grin she found a plush chair away from the fireplace, grabbed some tea, and sat down. "Welcome to your new home, Magnus."()

"'Ey, Gaia," he said with a wave, "thanks. Its rather excitin'"

Aderyn waved happily to both Magnus and Gaia as they joined her in the common room.

"Good to see you guys! How were your breaks?"

She shifted around and noticed the fire dwindling a bit in the fireplace. Pulling her wand out from her robes, she levitated a log from the nearby pile and neatly onto the smouldering embers to keep it going for them. She'd quietly spoken the incantation, wingardium leviosa, but she was trying to practice wordless magic so she'd been careful to be as silent as possible. She liked a bit of a challenge.

"Mine was good. Dad 'ad some work in America so we visited Ilvermorny and along wif some sight seeing. 'Ow bought you?"

Suddenly Gaia jumped from her chair "I forgot your presents!" she hurried over to the stairs leading up to her room. How could have she forgotten! She was excited about her friends reactions.

A few minutes later Gaia walked down the stairs with her hands full and waving her wand slightly to keep the different parcels in the air. She placed the ones she was carrying on her chair and lowered the ones in the air to a side table, unwrapping those first, "I brought some chocolate frogs, Pepper Imps, ice mice, sugar quills, and Every Flavour Beans!" Gaia then moved to a plain box "Nan baked us rock cakes!"

She was now moving faster in her excitement she unwrapped a figurine "This is a limited edition muggle werewolf figurine" handing it to Magnus () "muggles love their werewolves! We got it on our trip to visit mom's family. I also brought you this Herbology book. It is a Caribbean plants guide. I thought you might enjoy that!" She then picked up a stack of books "This are for you Aderyn. I got them at a second hand muggle book shop! There are science books, I thought you might enjoy those, some fairytales, and a book about herbal remedies used in America." Gaia grinned at her friends. She was wondering where her other friends where. (( ))

Magnus gaped at her when she mentioned presents and took off to her dorm. He was eve more surprised at the figurine she handed him. Grinning broadly he kept looking it all over checking out the details and mentally comparing notes. He hadn't even noticed she was trying to hand him a book for a few moments. "Fer me?" he croaked his his accent getting thicker. He was really touched she thought of him. "Fank you very much." He slung his arms around her for a quick hug. "I wish I'd gotten you something." He blushed deeply. He had thought of them but it never occured to him to buy them anything. Next holiday he would do better.

Gaia blushed "nonsense! My family knows all the thrifty places! Besides would else would I do with my money?" Gaia giggled handing Magnus a sugar quill.

He took the quill with only a little trepidation. Then slowly licked it. It tasted pretty good. It was the first sweet he'd tried. "I bought a few fings for Aria and meself but mostly I convereted me pocket money to muggle money at Gringotts." He wondered for a moment if he should explain further. Then carried on, "Dad took me down to London you see and I bought muggle sweets. We left a large basket on me old orphanage doorstep and then dad used the disillusionment charm on us and we watched them take the parcel inside callin' the kids." It had been Sam's idea and Magnus finally told his dad why he never ate candy and the idea of gifting the muggle children some. His dad gave him a hug, woke him the next morning and took the boy to London. Aftwards, they went to Diagon Alley and his dad bought him a few things and told his wife Stella and Aria that they had just gone to get Magnus some more drawng supplies.

Aderyn listend to Magnus recount his holiday.

"That sounds like fun! I spent some time with my grandmother up on the Isle of Skye, but mostly I stayed at home and tended to our garden. It was nice to take it easy for a change!"

As Gaia bounded down the steps with presents, Aderyn grinned widely, taking the books she'd just been handed.

"Thank you so much! These look amazing!"

She glanced through the titles, nearly bouncing out of her chair in excitement as she began flipping through the synopses and getting an idea of what she'd be reading about.

He nodded. "Yeah it was. Gardening sounds lovely," he replied. Aderyn was then thoroughly distracted by Gaia's presents.

"I'm glad you liked them! I tried to bring functional gifts, but I couldn't help myself with getting fun things!" Gaia sat down and unwrapped an acid pop and plopped it in her mouth, she grabbed one of the books she brought from home and waited for her friends to make their way to the common room.

Then thoughtfully still looking at the book in her hands she said "You know Magnus, we could take sweets and toys to where you grew up during Christmas holiday. I am sure my dad will be up for dressing as Santa and I don't mind being a Santa's Elf. I even have the hat already." She continued to skim over her book giving Magnus time to close his mouth for not thinking about it himself.

Magnus set his werewolf in his lap so it could "read" the book as he looked through it. He had begun lookng at the table of contents excitedly, meantally planning which plants he would like when Gaia replied. He gave a half smile--which was difficult with his mouth open. Trying to swallow the large lump in his throat he looked down. "That is a generous offer." He meant it too, and was very touched.

"I will message my dad in the morning. I am sure he will be excited. He likes showing off for kids." Gaia nodded and went back to her pop. ()

Beth entered the common room. She had spent her morning in the library trying to find the perfect book to read. Today she checked out A Guide to Medieval Sorcery. After placing the book in her bag she decided to head back to the common room to relax.

She entered the common room and walked up to the group of Ravenclaws.

"Hi everyone! Long time no see! How have you all been?" she eagerly asked them.

Gaia got up from her chair excited to see her friend. "I brought some stuff for you!" Gaia looked through the parcels to find the flat one she was looking for and began opening it. "I got these specially made on my trip to Diagon Alley. We had to deliver some owls and special treats, so I got you these." Handing her friend a set of fresh parchment with a header in fancy script that read Head Girl and then swirled to form the words Beth Hale with the stack came a blue and green quill and an ink well. "I figured you could do official Head Girl things with these!" Then handed her friend a small parcel with items to care for her Moony. "Nan made a special shampoo with our farm herbs to help keep his coat shinny and feathers clean without too much work. She said it will come in handy whenever he refuses to clean himself. Dad made the treats himself." Gaia winked and sat back on her chair. ()

It was exciting to think of showing his friend his old home and nerve wracking too. "I suspect headmaster told 'em all I died. He'll be surely disappointed to see me turn up. Maybe I pretend I'm stayin' for a moment. " He snickered and looked back down at his book. Then Beth arrived. He waved to her. "'Ello, how are you? 'Ave a good 'oliday?"

Fade finally rolled out of bed and came downstairs into the common room. Hardly bothering to cover a yawn he flopped into the nearest chair and put his feet up on the adjacent coffee table. “Morning.” He yawned again, it was well past the time any decent young man would have been awake. “Anyone else stay up all night trying to finish their Herbology homework?” He raised his hand. “Cuz I did.”
