So, question... Joining part way through a semester... Can I start participating in HA challenges and activities straight away, or do I need to wait until a new semester begins?

Yes, you can participate in challenges and lessons right away! :-) However, if you wish for your character to have a special ability (animagus, legilimens, etc) you will have to apply for it for next term. If your request is approved, you will be able to use it next term. ;) So, you wouldn't be able to use it in RP this term. Ravenclaw tower includes a very helpful bulletin board thread with a current list of all challenges, lessons, workshops, and role play threads. We also have a participation contest and raffle running. ;) We are so glad to have you in Ravenclaw house, hope you have fun!
