There are so many favorites to choose from but two characters come to mind immediately - Link from the Legend of Zelda series, and Roland from The Dark Tower books. Since someone already wrote about Link, I'll talk a little about Roland. I'm not really a fan of Stephen King's writing overall, but Roland just jumps off the page for me. I love his sense of faded tradition, his skill, his ties to the old world, the unusual things he experiences and his back story.
Roland makes a lot of mistakes, and there is tragedy throughout his story, but something about it really speaks to me. (I will not comment on the ending of the book series, or the movie that will be coming out soon, except that I have mixed feelings about both, and am holding out hope for the film. I do like the choice of actor.)
And, now my mind is flooded with other characters: Buffy, Haku, Howl, The Doctor and so many more.
Jame from the Rathillien Cycle. by P.C. Hodgell..trouble follows her wherever she goes, and her mother was an almost godlike powerful legend of her people, she's destined to either save the world or damn it. White skin, Raven black hair, and able to dance magic into being. With her blind hunting cat Jorin.. there's not much she can't face. Except her own potential fate.
We are the ones who remember, the ones who see what was, and is, and will be.
Me~
(misread this at first, im blaming burnout from school, double full time classes plus working full time has murdered my brain hah!)
If I were to choose one fantasy-esque character who I love above all others, it would have to be Atreyu from The Neverending Story. Not only is his origin/history tremendous, but his journey is tragic and beautiful, and you get to see all of Fantastica through his eyes. And this is especially meta, because it is only through reading his journey that the reader (is it us? is it Bastian? it goes layers deep when you read the books) truly becomes part of the world, and joins the Neverending Story. He makes a noble and tragic journey not only to save his world, but to save Bastian, and possibly us (again, depends how deep you read this stuff)... hes an underrated hero
Do you have a wyllop? Befriend my pet Poopie!
I want all the rat/rodent things.
All the characters from the movie "Legend" are favorites of mine. But my most favorite from that movie would be The Lord of Darkness played by Tim Curry. He is pure evil in a world of innocence and light and I can see a soft spot in his black heart for Lily. But light always wins over dark and love saves them all.
Entry Day 3
Basically everything I love is fantasy, sci-fi or horror (other than cats), so picking a favorite is really difficult. The list is so long....
I think I'm going to go with a favorite from my childhood: Jareth the Goblin King (played by David Bowie) in the Labyrinth (I'm not as old as that reference implies lol). I know he's the 'bad guy' but he was still awesome! I also really loved the 'The Worm' who lived in the wall of the Labyrinth and the little garden fairies that bite too. Lets be honest I just really love everything about that movie - fantasy world + strong female lead + Bowie + Henson = GOLDEN!
My favorite growing up was Aslan from the chronicles of Narina.
Basil Stag Hare from Tales of Redwall. I have read all the books but a few new ones.
The Hobbit/ Lord of the Rings Characters, Gandalf mainly.
Into the land of the unicorns by Bruce Coville
Harry Potter Series. I re-read at least once a year.
Alianne from Tricksters Choice by Tamora Pierce. And I loved most of the series she did.
Richard Rhal, And Khalan Amnell From The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. My favorite book is called. Faith of the Fallen.
So you want to be a Wizard by Diane Duane
Terry Pratchett Diskworld Series
Goosebumps
I love Hayao Miyazaki the first film I watched was Princess Mononoke. I love the world he creates it is so stunning and immersive. The Fifth Element, The Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, Starwars, Stargate, Startrek, so very many more.
I love Fantasy Sci-fi, it has been my great love for a long time.
❤

My favourite mythical creatures are dragons and pegasus. Got to love the freedom of flying around on an intelligent animal that puts up you joyriding.

Oh wow this is a tough one. How can you ever pick just one favorite, there are written so many stories about such amazing fantasy characters. I've always loved the fantasy genre when it comes down to tv shows, movies and books.
I've always loved Falkor from the Neverending Story, such a gentle character and so beautifully created. But then there's also the characters from Harry Potter (Hermione for example), the characters from The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind (Richard and Kahlan), the characters from the hobbit and the lord of the rings (Gollum, Frodo) and the characters from the Shannara series by Terry Brooks (Amberle for example). And this list is certainly not complete without a mention to the characters from Game of Thrones as well (Daenerys, Arya and of course those amazing wolves).
I could name some more but then again my list would probably never be complete LOL
I've always enjoyed Chronicles of Narnia. Read the whole series over and over again since I was a kid. The two movies that scared me the most when I first saw it back in the 80s. The Dark Crystal and The Labyrinth, but now those are two of my favorite movies :)
Entry 3 To hard to just pick one ^^
I have always been a huge fan of fantasy, my mom was always trying to push us in that direction wears shirts with dragons and unicorns on them. The first few fantasy creatures I recall would be from Fantasia and The Last Unicorn. Fantasia I love the scene with the unicorns and Pegasus’s of different colors. They were all so magical and playful. Also on fantasia all of the flowers that came to life and danced to Nutcracker. Such a lovely drawing and amazing scenes. Thirdly on Fantasia something I always had to skip as a kid because it gave me nightmares the gargoyles at the end. So frightening to a child lol!! The last unicorn was similar in this way that the unicorn was being hunted down. She was so gentle and kind though! I Also really liked Legend but I don’t remember all of it so much now XD I was also really into Xena when I was really young. I even got to meet her at universal Studios. She was like my role model a strong powerful magical women!!
Mid-child hood Harry Potter was big for me. My sister and I wanted to go to Hogwarts! I still want to go to Florida and experience it. All of the magical creatures and spells! It really brought to life magic in a real world setting. Could we go to London, will we get our letter to go? I just recently got a golden snitch “fidget spinner” lol!! Flying on magic brooms was always something I imagined as a kid. Leviosa!! It never worked but imagination ran wild when this came out. My friends and I that were interested in it even put “magic” books in our lockers that we hidden from muggles as the real magic books that they were. We also had the little owls they released at that time and we played magic over and over again in the school yard.
A little later I discovered Narnia. The lion had such power but from the books he was a god. It was always cool to see the creatures portrayed here. I will never forget this is the first time I saw a goat man Mr. Tumnus! The witch was truly evil and it was fun to watch good vs evil in these books/movies.
My favourite mystical creatures are perhaps all those with wings :P But I'm going to mention one without because I really liked him as a child and the movie left a very impression on me :)
Haku from Spirited Away! (I hope his image shows ;-; ) Otherwise it's https://goo.gl/images/isBnRQ!
Gentle but warm in his own way, he is a soft-spoken dragon who stood up for Chihiro when she was stuck in the spiritual realm. I had always wished for that same kindness when I go through my own dark hours c:
I guess if I have to pick just one it would be dragons.
I love how depending where you look most society has a belief in them. They represent power and wisdom with a "little" bit of a hoarding issue, which I can totally get behind. Various abilities and each with their own unique attitude.
Congrats to all the other winners!
I'm going to have to go with Galadriel from Lord of the Rings. I read the books when I was a little kid and grew up thinking she was just amazing. She's regal but strong as well and chosen to be one of the Keepers of the Three magical rings. She was powerful, beautiful, wise and kind.

I read a book a couple years ago called The Golem and the Jinni. It was about those two mythical creatures - a golem and a jinni. They're creatures from Jewish and Arabian/Islamic folklore, respectively, so I wasn't familiar with them. The book takes place in New York in the late 19th century and it's about these two mythical creatures meeting and living in the city among all of the other immigrants from all over the world. It was really a fascinating story and has stuck with me more than any book I've read in a long time. I'd highly recommend it!! :)
Um um, just one? I am so bad at favorites and fantasy is so great and diverse. Read all the entries so far and gave it some thought. So hard. My current favorite mystical character is probably Harry Dresden the wizard in Jim Butcher's series. He is wry and crafty.
Sieran the sylvari from Guild Wars 2! Her race is something very special. She's a sylvari, which is a humanoid plant. They're each born of the Pale Tree, who is basically the "mother" of all sylvari. The Pale Tree was planted by a human and a centaur over a grave of humans, which is why sylvari take on a very human-like shape. The race follows the teachings of Ventari the centaur, such as "All things have a right to grow. The blossom is brother to the weed." and "Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil or sorrow." It's a very young race - created about 25 years prior to the start of the core game. O my god, the lore behind this race is SO INTERESTING. Each sylvari starts off in the "Dream of Dreams," where they learn from the experiences of all previous sylvari. They're born as adults from pods, and while they no longer exist within the dream after they're born, their experiences contribute to the Dream for all future sylvari.
Sieran is exactly as I expected sylvari to be. She's very curious, somewhat childlike in her enthusiasm, but she has great ideas. She mentors characters who join the Durmand Priory, an order for scholars. I join her order on a LOT of new characters just so I can play with her character again, she's just so fun! And her enthusiasm is contagious. She's the most underrated character in the game, in my opinion. Everyone is so focused on Tybalt Leftpaw, a bighearted charr (a beastlike race of bipedal felines) who mentors characters who join the order of stealth, the Order of Whispers. But the real hero is Sieran. I'm sorry this is so long, I just LOVE SYLVARI SO MUCH, especially Sieran, she's the coolest
Day 3:
I was always a fan of anne rice from the first book that I read, so for me vampires are characters i am looking forward in any type of entertainment, but lately I have been reading some mangas fantasy land, and all the creatures there are kind of complex, so elfs, demons etc.
