Have you decided what you're gonna do? What're you leaning towards?

Hahaha oh I get where you're coming from, Jing Fong's decor is... interesting, and very, very loud. It's funny what you remember. I forgot about the chandeliers, and I mean how did I, they're HUGE (I googled it to get the name). For someone else the detail was that the waiters use walkie-talkies, like, that job is serious business at Jing Fong.

Are you really? That's cool :) I love cooking and I'm pretty good at it. Lately I've been feeding the family instead of my mom. Sometimes I get in a cooking rut where I can't think of anything new, it's like, "I could make pasta... or those chicken thighs, again" every night. I've been really inspired again!

haha oh I'm embarrassingly ignorant about Lebanese food, I know I like it, but... so my fam's Japanese, so I always know what's Japanese or Korean or whatever when I'm at a "japanese" or "thai" restaurant. I'm guessing that happens with Lebanese/Turkish/Greek. I essentially love restaurants that can be called "middle-eastern". Actually it's a challenge because I know so little it's hard to re-find things. I'm so embarrassed rn.

Hmm I love dumplings, though that's broad :P Subeta taught me "fatayer" incidentally! But my favorite are these small ones with lamb, little ovals that were fried, with the breading not as crunchy as fatayers. Are hummus and gyros Lebanese? I almost always get something in sandwich form. (Do you have a personal hummus recipe, are you learning to make gyros?) Tabbouleh is really interesting but I'm not sure I could eat a whole bowl by myself

I'm pretty sure my favorite meal doesn't exist because I've only seen it at one restaurant and it was named "Turkish pizza". It was flatbread with ground lamb. I loved that meal, chose it as my birthday dinner one year, and I've never been able to find it elsewhere.

ooh yay! I'll go open prezzies... thank you 😊

Honestly not sure!

Oh man I don't remember the walkie talkies! At all! But I'm excited about it XD

Man pasta is the best lol. I could eat it for every meal!

Oh no no don't be embarrassed! I think you're thinking of baked kibbeh! Did you eat it with Leban? (Or plain yogurt, lot's of people just use that as a substitute for leban) We also have a similar dish called kibbeh nayeh, but it's raw! It's the same meat, but you stuff it in a piece of pita, pour olive oil on it and put a slice of onion on top! They're both sooooo good <3 I think hummus has a pretty universal recipe, but what a lot of places don't do, that you've really gotta if you want nice smooth hummus, is you have to peel the chick peas. Each. One. XD But it's worth the effort! Gyros are greek! Lol oh man make me feel self conscious that I have, on multiple occasions, taken an entire container of tabbouleh victim as a midnight snack >//> It's a running joke between my best friend and I that my mother adds extra lemon to it lol. If you don't see lemon juice pooling at the bottom of the container like a bath, it's not lemony enough!

Oh that's a shame! I just googled it, is it Lahmacun? Maybe you can make it yourself sometime! :D

haha honestly for me, getting all these ideas would make it waaay harder ;^; 😅

Re: peeling chickpeas: OH GAWD. Do you get shanghai-ed into kitchen labor? My family is full of perfectionists who like doing things the hard way (last time I asked my mom for a bagel, she made it in the oven instead of the toaster, so it took 2 tries, because the texture is better--but I swear she just couldn't handle a breakfast as simple as "hmm, just a bagel with butter for me, thanks!") Thank goodness she doesn't know about the chickpea thing

Do you like cooking then? It's one of my fave hobbies ^^ If you have a recipe I'd love to try sometime!

heehee I love strong flavors too, raw onion is my jam. This one guy I dated, whenever I kissed him, he tasted like chocolate and sweet vegetables. And I'd go from swoon to I wonder what I taste like? to 😦 😨 😳😳😳

Lol I think I've decided to do a cookout. We were planning to do one anyway but now I can include my friends who are visiting, which'll be nice.

Lol oh GOD no my mom is the furthest thing from a perfectionist. She does every measurement by eye and it drives me insane haha. I like control, but she just sort of...throws things in. But I bet she'd do the bagel in the oven thing too tbh.

I am actually only now learning to cook! I don't know what I'm doing lol. But my family has what we call "the red book" full of our recipes, so if there's something you want to try, give me a name and I'll smail you a copy of it :)

HECK YEAH RAW ONION BUDS. Lol that's so weird. I probably always taste like garlic tbh...thank god my s/o really doesn't care haha.

I'm trying to figure out what to do for my bday on Thursday. I'm going to the beach that day and on the weekend maybe catch a movie or go to an amusement park. Was going to go today, but there's a thunderstorm warning

"So come up to the lab and see what's on the slab. I see you shiver with antici... pation."
