Oh sorry I forgot about that! x: Thank you! :D And thank you very much for the gift! hugs I've never been to the US so I don't know much about guided tours/trips you can do there x:

Maybe go to a funfair, or fair/carnival? Ride bikes in Central Park? Just throwing these ideas :D (no need to gift me!)

Just googled "thing you can do in new york" (xD) and found these:

  • Clipper City Tall Ship Cruises Manhattan By Sail
  • New York Water Taxi
  • Fraunces Tavern
  • Blazing Saddles
  • SoHo-Little Italy-Chinatown Walking Tour

hugs Lol well since we're all pretty acquainted with NY, guided tours always seem a bit patronizing to us. We know our way around and know the "touristy" spots those tours always hit. Yeah someone suggested a fair, and that's a good idea! NY has some crazy street fairs happening during the summer so I'm going to look them up!

Oh, where are you from if you don't mind my asking?

edit: prefer WL prizes

I wish I could have poached ideas from this list back when I lived in NY... one of the coolest, most unique places I went to was a Society of Illustrators sketch night. There's a bar and live models. Might be cool for artsy friends

On that note I'm surprised no one's suggested an art museum? I'm just a huge dork aren't I. You've been to the MoMA right?

Apparently "restaurant" has been suggested although that's quite vague lol. Since it's NYC if you look up "best restaurants of the year review" at bonappetit.com (or google?) and stuff like that, there's always some from NY. You can get suspiciously cheap Chinese food, so that might be a good area to save money, the city is super expensive. For example, Xi'an Famous Foods is one of the best chinese eats in ny according to Timeout Mag and I've been there, it's the most rinky-dink little place with the toilet paper chained down because people steal it. Jing Fong is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Waiters wheel dim sum around on carts. Dim sum is like Chinese tapas, there's small servings--so you literally look at the food and grab what looks good and you can try a bunch of different things.

I've always wanted to see a drag show 😅 that's something you want to go to with a bunch of friends. Apparently restaurants where the waitresses are in drag / there's a drag performance are a thing?

Speaking of which, I went to a stand-up comedy show in NYC and it was awesome! You can see like semi-famous people without paying a ton of money, hopefully with a smattering of rising stars to start off. They make sure to keep the crowd very liquored up. (I think they might card at the entrance)

Hookah. You'll wanna look for someplace that has Middle Eastern food, good deals, and hookah. Watch out: a lot of hookah places don't serve alcohol.

Pool hall :)

Aww, it ends in June. My party is July 9th lol. Very good though! I'm not an artist but I've got friends who might appreciate this info! Oh well, museum is pretty much comprehensive lol. Yeah, I have been to the MoMa. I went for the rain room exhibit last year but it was sold out :c And We did mention the cloisters, which is an out-of-museum exhibit of The Met! I often went with my mom for Dim Sum, so I feel ya. I think I was actually at Jing Fong when I was little! I remember it being the RITZIEST looking place haha! I'll look these up! I'm always looking for great food when I'm in the city. We just hit up Naruto Ramen last week and it was delicious <3 but that's in midtown. Lol can't do middle eastern, I'm lebanese and nothing lives up to my family's recipes! Though I did see an AMAZING sign once on a restaurant saying "We like them hot, lebanese, and cheesy" and I nearly cried it was so beautiful haha.

Oh dear lord we actually attended a student drag show once, but nothing professional. I'm sure the pros are much better XD

Oh nice! You should come visit the US sometime though, I'll show you around the city! :D

My bad. How old will you be?

Lol but what is a "pro" drag queen really? What was that performance like? I have to say, the best drag performance I've ever seen was by another student randomly at a party in a basement.

hahaha I wouldn't call Jing Fong ritzy so much as "what the..?" There's two escalators at the entrance. You take them up to a HUGE red and gold room wondering if you're in the right place, or if the restaurant is inside a mall..?

Ah I feel you there. Lebanese is some of my fave food, so if you're at home having something even better I envy you >_>

I think you can rent kayaks at Central Park. I bet you there's a lot of summery stuff going on. Does the Botanical Gardens have an off-shoot in the city? cause I remember it being a few metro stops north. I had a great date there once. There's Highland Park, which is an awesome idea (I think there's historical tidbits posted throughout the park) in addition to the pretty garden aspect. It's more in the middle of things. In fact, if you're doing stuff on the West Side, you could literally just use it as a travel route.

Brighton Beach is another area I never made it to. Lots of Russians, beaches, and near the amusement park on Coney Island

I forgot to tell you before: for any suggestion that qualifies, I'd prefer WL stuff instead of tokens

edit: for the illustrator society thing, I think they happen in July but only have the June schedule posted for now

23!

Someone with more practice? Lol idk man. I did actually see three "pro"s preform at my college a few months back and that was WILD. Oh boy.

I just remember that big ol chandelier? The long one? It's probably not even a chandelier but it was like...idk some long, glittery light fixture. And come on to an 11yr old a restaurant with a chandelier and escalators is pretty ritzy lol.

Ah you should. I'm slowly learning the recipes myself. What's your favorite dish? I so rarely meet people who are familiar with them!

Oh yes that's right! I was just in central park (I visited Belvadiere Castle for the first time!) and I remember seeing kayaks. I've only ever been to the brooklyn botantical, never the manhattan one so I'm not actually sure how close it is lol, but the brooklyn one isn't exactly a distance either. I actually never knew about Highland Park! I'll look into it. Usually I'm more on the lower east side but I've ended up west enough that I feel like I should've bumped into it at least once, but I don't think I have. Ny's always funny like that. Oh man my parents (who grew up in brooklyn) always talk about brighton beach, and say the exact same thing actually. Lots of Russians. XD

Ahh, well that's good!

I'll make sure to send you WL, then! I'll send them soon!

I skimmed your list very roughly, so forgive me if there are any repeats on here. These are all things that I have done, am planning to do, or would like to do with my friends. (Not even to celebrate anything, honestly; we're just big on aesthetics.)

  • Observatory
  • Camping, complete with fairy lights, laterns, and an outrageously large pile of pillows and blankets
  • Go to a 24 hour diner in your pajamas
  • Omegle (BE CAREFUL)
  • Search online (Craigslist could be helpful) for free classes, free events, etc. in your area and attend as many as possible, taking selfies at each one
  • Make some small care packages (small toothpaste, toothbrust, deodorant, some snacks, fruit, travel tissues, etc.) and hand them out to homeless people in a nearby city
  • Lasertag

Wishlist is preferred, if you're still giving out gifts! I hope that you enjoy your day when it comes.

- what about a Broadway play or musical? That can be a wonderful experience. You can either get reserved tickets in advance or get half price tickets on the day if you're flexible about what you'd like to see.

How about a visit to the famous Apollo Theater?

Since you have visitors coming in from out of town, a visit to the World Trade Center memorial could be a meaninful part of the day. Combine it with a visit to the Empire State Building which was once the tallest building in New York.

If you're interested, you could take an architecture tour (or a historical tour) of the city.

Or make up your own tour (tour of chocolate shops, ice cream shops, ethnic food shops).

What about a visit to Chelsea Market where the Food Network studios are? Maybe you could get in to see a show or take a studio tour, but even if you can't the market looks amazing and well worth a visit.

How about picking a few places based on your friends likes and setting up a scavenger hunt to get you all there?

Are you all shoppers? Spend a day a Macy's and other famous NY stores.

What about a visit to Tiffany's?

Will there be any local festivals around at the right time?

How about fireworks? That might be a great evening activity and there should be some in the area. If your friends will be there on July 4th you could take in the big parade and it will be the 40th anniversary of the fireworks show. Find a great spot on land or take a fireworks cruise.

Whatever you do, I hope you and your friends have a wonderful time and you enjoy your special day.

No need to send me anything - consider the suggestions an early birthday gift.

I envy you! I live in Australia, so we don't really have diners here and there are, like, two places that are open 24 hours - McDonald's and Pancake Parlour (which is a pancake place that's way too fancy for pajamas). I'm on the hunt though! If worse comes to worst, Pancake Parlour will have to do.

Good luck with your birthday! :P

I say fancy but I think the proper term would be "fine casual dining". In other words, you have to be dressed nicely, the decor is very warm and tidy, and the food isn't fast food or greasy or severely over the top. It's sort of the pancake equivalent of a place like Nando's.

And thank you so freakin' much for the wishlist items! You're a total sweetheart.
