I'm in America and there's not much more to it than that xD The essence of modern Halloween.

Yeah, traditionally there are the religious connotations of it being celebrated along with All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, and maybe some religious groups still observe it that way.

But at least in the US, the majority of the general public just celebrates it with the costumes and candy and spooky decorations. Other countries and cultures are different though, such as Mexico and the Day of the Dead (which is more religious/spiritual).

Well, glad I got the contest posted yesterday, before being error and blank screened out of it. Fingers crossed for improvements today.

I am convinced that talking is a dying art! Much as modern technology is great for people who are far away, there's something to be said for still trying for human contact.

Here in the UK, it's only been in the last decade or so that Halloween in the US style has got more popular. These days, shops and businesses will decorate their windows and baking companies make themed cakes and things. ToT-ing is still not on such a big scale either.

I think you have the essence of the holiday right there! Plus you can use any Morostide references for added fun. 👻

I have 2 large bowls of candy ready to go! With a few plastic snakes and mice in there, for added 'ewww'.

Making the Halloween party games later on today. Glue guns will be involved. Wish me luck...

I don't usually do a whole lot for Halloween, but it can be fun to see other people's costumes and watch the Halloween movies.

Yeah, we go a bit mad here - certainly compared to most of the UK!

The party is Saturday evening/night, then we are having a film evening for the 31st itself.

So far, no one has been attached to the glue gun or game items, or burned themselves, so we are on a roll!
However, my other half has just headed outside for spray painting the card/games things...

I don't know, I don't really have a list or anything. I might see what ends up just being on TV, or I might pick something specific.

And that's good there were no glue gun casualties.

Most of the yard got spray painted, but otherwise we are unscathed!

Unfortunately, I am getting more 502/504s as the day is going on. Wasn't bad this morning. :(

I always have a stack of dvds ready for Halloween, the stuff on TV can be a bit hit or miss over here. Have to plan ahead!

The transparent backgrounds are so useful in HA construction. I hope we get some more!

Im trying to finish up the 'main' (AKA, vest part) of a little sweater for kids. Had to redo a bit of it, but it was just a little bit/few rows. Fun times ahead!

Ooh, good luck with the sweater project! I am still working on doll clothes for my niece's toys, which are fiddly to make and sew, but knit up super fast. Barbie never looked so warm! xD

I think I saw a few nice looking knitted barbie clothes patterns on Ravelry, but I cant knit so I gotta wait until I can to try them out :3. Im really bad at using the 'thread' sized stuff (or whatever you want to call it) because.. I dunno, it just doesn't turn out very well XD

There are lots of nice dolls patterns online, and I have some vintage knitting patterns from the 70s / 80s. The funniest are knitted clothes for Action man or GI Joe type toys.

My current knits are 2-ply yarn, but I think the crochet thread is even thinner!
