No, it only triggers the change when one person gets the 5 wins and presses the see results button. So if another finds the weapon, they can get 5 wins but not press see results, and they can tell a bunch of people so they can do the same.

I lucked out and was like the third or fourth person to get a win and didn't need to deal with the group :p

it will die in one hit if you have the right weapon pretty much, so it's not hard at all. just gotta find the right weapon
