Ooh, that sounds like a good plan. We have nearly 2 out of 3 candy bowls left, so we have some spares for actual ToTers and will eat some during Horror film evening tomorrow.

Tonight, my other half (who is an American Football fan) is watching matches so I am TPing on here!

I am all for scary! I haven't any pics on here to send at the moment, but this was my costume inspiration: Here Blade from the Puppet Master horror films.

To be fair, there are a lot of kid-friendly ones I enjoy too, stuff like Hotel Transylvania and ParaNorman.
I run the gauntlet of cutesy horror, classic b/w horror, regular horror and 'so bad you wonder why you're watching' b-movie horror.
So, mostly horror.
xD

There's room for cutesy! c:

Got my other half to have a go at the google game (between football match viewing), he scored 16070 before getting splatted. Not bad as he was on my clunky old laptop at the time!

No shame there. I count myself as a 'sausages instead of fingers' kind of gamer, so I kind of threw the laptop at him, shouting for help... xD

that would be a little to much, given Halloween is no german tradition. we actually have a old tradition a week afterwards (the 10th of november) but then this is St. Martin and the kids go with lanterns and sing for sweets.

So if I dress as a old witch, that's scary enough (for Germany)

I'm sure any regular gamer would do fine!

We have mainly been eating party leftovers, pizzas and burgers and we found some Pumpkin, coconut milk and chilli pepper soup at the supermarket as a 'contains veg' top up! There has not been much healthy eating during this weekend...

Oh, my, I did not know that!
Very happy to have some spooky heritage here. Though, I am happy to adopt the Pumpkin from America, they make good lanterns. :) Do you enjoy the scary films?

I think with the winter season, we're going to try for more home made veg soups and veg one-pot stews and things, just to get a good amount of veggies in one meal at least.
Maybe with some home baked bread...?

Plus you can freeze leftovers for another quick-meal day.

I love broth based soups, but they can be finicky when you freeze them. Definitely easier to freeze the broth separately from everything else otherwise I've found the veggies get funny when they thaw. And potatoes never freeze well. I made a big batch of a mixed green soup (plus tomatoes, potatoes, onions, and chorizo) earlier last week. My boyfriend polished it off by Friday lol

In the process of testing out a new bread recipe. I don't experiment much with whole wheat flour, so I'm curious to taste how it turns out later! I couldn't quite get it to pass the windowpane test, but it felt nice and springy. Still got about a half hour left on the first rise. Patience is a virtue I suppose -_-

I am hoping to find a good crockpot. The ones I usually find are too small, or at least the ones I can afford right now. Then I can just toss all my ingredients in there and cook em up :) I love veggie soup. My Granny use to make it with veggies that they grew in the garden. It was so good!

If you're stateside, check Target (or the equivalent). I got a decent size crockpot there a few years back around the holidays for under fifty bucks, and it's amazing. My mom kept that one when I moved out after university, so I ended up buying an Instant Pot. If you can afford one, they're amazing. Basically a pressure cooker and slow cooker in one, and they're programmable so you can set it to cook for x hours and then it switches to warm. I don't use it often enough because I love to actively cook, but it's amazing for soups. I usually use it for some clam chowder and French onion soup during the winter :) (and now I'm craving some good clam chowder! Fortunately it's pretty easy to find in Boston)

Top tips there! We sometimes find it good to make a chunky soup for the fresh batch, then puree the defrosted batch, to make a smooth soup rather than a soggy veg one.
My other half loves chorizo, I will mention that idea to him.

We will await bread updates!

A crockpot is such a time saver. Switch on, come back later, food! My mother still keeps on with veg growing, we got carrots, green beans and courgettes/zucchinis from her this year.

No problem! I always forget that Target has a bunch of stuff like that, and their prices are usually pretty good. I bought one of those regular Crockpot brand slow cookers, and it's been amazing almost five years into it. My mom uses it fairly often, and I play around with recipes when I'm home using it too. Ribs are great, just rub on some spices, slather them in BBQ sauce, and cook them in the crockpot for like 6 hours. Not at all like the amazing BBQ that you get in the South, but it's pretty tasty. I've done the same thing with chicken a couple times too. Paired with some steamed veggies, and you've got a complete meal :)

Oh yeah, as my boyfriend said, the chorizo made all the spinach, kale, and arugula palatable. Great idea with pureeing the defrosted soup to avoid some questionable textures. I love pureed veggie soups. Carrot and ginger soup is my current favorite. I usually top it with some toasted pine nuts so I don't feel like I'm eating baby food haha.

That is one thing I really hate about apartment living...no yard for gardening. I miss that :(

Now I am really hungry!!! :P I don't buy a whole lot from Target. Usually just movies and toys. Every once in a while I will buy some bedroom items from there.

Their dry goods (flour, sugar, instant coffee, most spices, etc.) are usually really well priced, as are some of their frozen food items (like chicken). I don't currently have a car so I don't get over to ours often, but my mom makes a note of what's cheaper at Target and goes there once a month to stock up on the cheaper stuff there.
