Any chance you could tell us how scoring was done now that the competition is over?

lmaooo at least let us keep the snow sculptures bc we can't even have a small pixel-y medals or any type of explanation.
I think might be onto something with the multiplier. Largest team's multiplier is 1x. Second largest is (1st/2nd)x. Third largest is (1st/3rd)x etc etc. I can't think of any glaring faults with something like that?
Would be good to know team sizes, averages etc to see how it all worked out in reality.

that just made my day :D
the sculputers turned out super cute (except ours that looks like a murder scene, that falls under cool not cute XD) it would be nice to keep them :D
Yours is beautiful and I want to ride it and conquer the entire Arctic Frost, ngl. IM THE MONKEY.
I thought I was the monkey!!!!! bubble bursted! XD
onward my warrior friends!!!

It still charged them for every item though..., right?
So they spent Billions to win a potion and a trophy. More power to 'em. I think our participation prizes are plenty.
Yes it still charged them. But there is a reason why shops have timers and there is a vending limit etc and while I don't blame the people who used it to their advantage, It was still a huge oversight on staffs part and the fact they denied it, THEN 'fixed' it, Is why people are mad, Not because people abused it or the fact that we lost.
So. advantage yes..., cheating no. Confusion on the staff's part..., well that's kind of par for the course.
I'm still happy with the event overall.
The MB glitch and abuse was unfortunate, but I have to say I'm really impressed with how the prizes were handled. Participation prizes, the ability to buy the other team prizes in the Millionaire Centre at a reasonable cost, and the fact that the winner's prize was not some exclusive item, but something that others will be able to obtain as well over time. That was great!
I absolutely think we have a right to know how the scores were calculated. Not telling us is sketchy as shit. The events over. Nothing is going to change the outcome, but I think we should still know how it came to be.
One thing that makes Subeta so much better than Neo is the transparency. 9/10 times staff here is great about communicating whats going on behind the scenes to the public. I think this should absolutely be one of those times.
So... Are we actually going to get some staff to comment, or can we safely say that this is going to be ignored until eternity?
I too would like to know final stats - how many folks were on each team, what the average scores were (by team), and how scores were tallied (if it wasn't straight donations.)
I cannot understand why these details would be treated as such secrets. My only theory, which I hope is incorrect, is that revealing them will cause additional drama of some kind. In which case- what exactly is being withheld?
If you kind of squint your eyes and don't think about it too much you can kind of see a bushy haired person running away from you in this masterpiece. I approve.
You mean that's not what it is? It's hard to unsee. :P
I don't even have to squint my eyes to see it anymore :x
For me, I started off super hyped for this cause Australia = 99% chance of no snow ever. I've had a snow ball fight before and that was awesome but no snow man (how do you build them?). So this was like "Yes! Virtual chance to build one!"
Then the teams and I'm like "Cool, awesome. I only want one of these items so no back and forth in choosing." Boom team picked. I'm set. I'm ready. Pumped to rule. I'm prepped to drop the sp the staff wanted on it. Prepped to watch my team win because I like seeing scores. So it starts and I donate and am good to go, happily donating away. Everythings cool. Everythings fun. I'm thinking "Awesome can my team win?! I hope we can! I hope it's close! That'd be so much fun!"
Until the scores were revealed.
And it was so clear how much further ahead that stickers (sorry, Team Hotdad), and mischief were that there was no shot in hell of any of the other 3 teams catching up. So that was disappointing to be essentially counted out within the first two days and it was no longer fun to try and fight a losing battle. Nothing wrong with losing, just that I went from "FUN. YES. GO TEAM." to "Oh... Okay. This isn't fun if there is no chance at coming close to winning. Back to our regularly scheduled subetaing."
I'm sure it was a hecka tonne of fun for those two teams to battle it out for the rest of the week but it was just sort of a normal week for the rest of the users (Who I'm sure there are a lot) who counted themselves out and stopped trying like myself.
That said. I'm glad I saw the scores because if I didn't see them at all and was told I wouldn't then I'd probably donate a lot less than I did. Bare minimum and move on because I like to see noticeable progress.
tl;dr: I could be seen as salty, but as a whole. I counted myself out by the second day and didn't care what happened after that because it wasn't fun to try anymore.
I love your trophies. I want to frame mine.

[/font]I think this event could have been a bit better if it was just two teams. Wasn't there complaining about there being way too many teams, everyone being split up for the bands events? The user base was stretched thin so it was a no brainer that the most popular team aka the team with the majority of users would win. Unless the biggest team(s) are given a major handicap, which I don't think would be fair, no amount of fixing the scores will help drag up the less popular teams. Specially when they get discouraged because the top team is like 10x higher in score points and they keep climbing.
So in the end it's an event with two teams battling over the top and the other teams left in the dust.
tldr If we're going to get competition events, make them only between two teams.

I liked the choice of teams! That was one of my favourite aspects. Dolly vs Tobias didn't really mean anything to me last year as the characters felt like blank slates. This time, I liked all the relationships they represented and how they came from all corners of Subeta. :) I think there was something for everyone.
I'd just hate for these events and these cool ideas to stop because of some sour grapes, y'know. There are definitely oversights and things that can be improved, but it doesn't take away from the good imo.
Would love to see some stats for this event! I didn't keep track of total sP counts before / during the event, or team scores, kinda wishing I did. Anyways, my personal pros and cons of the event:
Pros: Team Selection - With 5 teams, I thought the team selection process was really interesting. There was no obvious best pick from the get go - like other events have had. It was clear some teams were going to be smaller than others, but without the scoring mechanism being clear, you didn't know.
Prize Transparency - Big plus in my book way not changing the prizes because of this thread. It was completely clear what you would get for doing 'X', without giving every little detail.
Prizes - Special team prizes, a new skin and pet slot for everyone was pretty nice. I was on the winning team, but don't think I would have been sad to be on a losing team.
Timeline - Event moved pretty quickly, no waiting around 2 days for the next step. You could really take this as seriously as you wanted without losing out on anything if you couldn't log on everyday.
NPC interaction - I've complained before about the lack of NPC activity in some of our past events (a really long time ago) - but the last year or two have really turned this around. The team threads were nice to read through with the occasional NPC post.
Cons: Trophies - I really do think everyone should have gotten a trophy. A participation one and a special "winning team" one would have done nicely. Trophies are mostly for remembering events anyways, not so much for bragging rights.
Scoring - Two complaints here. One, it wasn't super clear that the "team scores" shown on the page were actually going to be the final scores. I almost expected some "magic" scoring to come in at the last minute and change the winning team. Glad it didn't, but staff being vague on scoring was a bit annoying. Two, the 3 lowest teams when the scores were released on day two more or less just gave up. Without tiered prizes, there was nothing for them to work for. One idea around this may have been to show the team rankings (who's in first, second, third...) but not show the actual shows.
Hoarding - I had ~10k snowballs saved up from prior years saving them - that gave me a huge advantage over those that had to vend / RS to get their items. I took all of 5 minutes to turn in 2500 of the same snowball. Not fun that hoarding items had such a big effect on your personal score. Only being able to donate unique items may have been an interesting idea.
Overall, I really enjoyed this event.
