THIS. ALL THE WAY! This would be soooo useful!!
This would be fabulous!
I agree with this idea since I know that sometimes the categories are more like reminders to buy for yourself, like with holiday shops... I have those categories so I can keep track of what I still need from those shops and I feel bad when people send me things from those categories because it's like... I was going to buy it eventually xD
However, I'd love instead of full-out private categories, if they were more along the lines of "unlisted" like with youtube videos. With unlisted youtube videos they're kind of private in the way you can't just find them, but if you have the direct link, you can see it. This would be useful in this situation: I've seen people use a wishlist category as a way to show what CWs they already own and that people should not gift them these items. If they made this kind of category unlisted, it wouldn't be mixed in with the other categories that people can choose to gift them from. But they would still be able to give out the link to show off or whatever they do.
edit: and to go along with this idea, the unlisted category's items would not show up in the WL search feature either.
This is a great idea! I have a few categories that are mostly for my own reference and it'd be cool if we could hide them.
I do love 's idea of them being unlisted. It'd be handy for sharing when you're trawling through the Advertising boards, for example, or keeping track of holiday items.
Support, As someone with an astronomically huge wishlist that is a mix of both self reference(achivement items I still need, or holiday items I can buy with currency, new items, restockables, entire boutique sets, entire SBQ sets, etc ), and things I would actively like, (like CS items(general), SBQ items (not entire sets or retired ones ), holiday items not bought with currency, restockables, retired items, etc ) it would help immensely if I could split things up into public and private, or unlisted like Luck suggested! Making things private or unlisted would help so people can actually see what you want, like when gifting for Lumi or your birthday or some other act of kindness, instead of wading around in a lot of stuff that's a mixed bag of "want" and "self reference" and not knowing the difference between the two.
Also making the wishlist box colour for "private" or 'unlisted' wishlists different so you can tell between the two would be super useful btw. )

Love this idea.
Pinging for more support ;)
If it's going to make people happy than I support :)
I really like this idea. I think it would be very useful!
Thanks for the ping!
I'd love this, it would make things so much easier for buying purposes. I could hide my restockable/holiday items.

I would love to see this implemented. My WL is enormous, but mostly for my reference. It would be wonderful to hide about 90% of it.

What was the question?
I love this idea and before the present page this was a huge reason I wanted private categories.
Yes please, not only is my wishlist pretty big, I have certain items on it that I'd rather just get for myself, usually items bought with special currencies like quest points, carnival tickets, and holiday currencies, etc. Friends only and unlisted categories would be neat as well.

Fully support this idea. Also, it would have to work that if you do a wishlist search and an item is in a hidden category, it doesn't show up in the results.
I would LOVE a private WL system, I'd also LOVE if we can have different WL box colours (ie. right now they are blue boxes by default), I'd love to be able to have red/green a few options, so that I can look at a box and know what I need the item for x')
A lot of times I buy items and find out I didn't need it for my collection, and it's really for a potential TC or something :9

Of course this would be fantastic! More like a goal list than a wish list.
Would it be a PITA to implement? Because to actually be effective wouldn't it need to be a whole other system? So that the items wouldn't show up in WL search? Because I mean, if that part isn't factored in, it's really no different than the labeled categories we're already using. I'm probably guilty of sending people WL items from the wrong lists because, once you find something on their WL through search, how do you even make it through these huge lists to find which category it was in?! Or am I the only one with a monster WL? v_v lol GOOD LUCK IN THERE GUYS! It would be great to be able to remove the things I really don't want and am only WLing for self reference, people wouldn't drown in my WL! D:
Stickers for instance! I feel so bad when drills asks me to stick people, like right now because my WL has stickers I want to OWN not be stuck with, and I'm always afraid I'm gonna mess up someone's collection sticking them with something they WL'd to have somewhere other than the collection. :/ sorry guys
Hmm... what if each WL category had settings giving you the option to be something that shows up in search or not. click edit And instead of just changing the name, there's also a 'Show up in search?' tick box or a private/public drop down. Added bonus if each list could be assigned a color in a drop down! I mean you smart people can probably use custom CSS to make ALL WL boxes a pretty color. But I'd love to be able to make all my pet TC WLs a different color, my most wanted list, my just for achs list, that way when a WL item pops up in my day, I can tell if I really want it/where to put it instantly by the color of the box. Save me some time! ^_^ And I know people could use that to WL items for profit, but they already do that so it wouldn't really change anything there. As long as WL boxes never show up in NPC shops we're good, right? :D (Am I naive? Could that be used more sinisterly than I think?)
For some reason I feel like this is something staff will see as too difficult to put into play, but I REALLY hope it's doable! <3
I really like the unlisted idea!

I love this idea! It would be really helpful for my collections and event wishlists and also for tentative planning wishlists for treasure chests and that sort of thing that I tend to make. :) I don't know about this kind of thing, but I really hope it's not too difficult to implement.
