"Thanks, you lot are too kind," he said fixing a teeny line that was crooked on her nose. He did a sever charm and handed the sketch to Aderyn. "You can keep it. There's loads of insperation 'ere." He flipped to one he did of Gaia with Athena on her shoulder and removed it from the book and handed it to her. "Maybe I should set up a booth for part o' the ball and do sketches for folks? If anyone would like them that is..." He thought about the right music... "Well we could do a line dance, charleston, er, waltz is too slow for this, but we could ask for some headbanging music." ((OOC: bad migraine feeling dizzy, trying to stay with it, but just warning I might disappear for a bit))
Aderyn accepted the sketch from Magnus and carefully rolled it up, charming a ribbon into place around the middle to hold it curled up for safe keeping.
"Thank you! It's gorgeous."
She watched Gaia skip off to talk to the musicians and, despite her shyness, felt excited for a bit of a dance with her friends. At least it would keep them warm!
"It feels so strange having a party like this on a school night!"
Adrien watched as Magnus flipped through the sketchbook, amazed at the talent his friend has. "Magnus... This is amazing, you're really talented. You get every single fine detail, it's like looking at a picture." He whistled, as he saw even more of the drawings as he searched for the sketch of Gaia. "It is weird to be doing this on a school night," he said in agreement with Aderyn. "I'm all for it, though, we don't get enough nights like this."
(OOC: I'm sorry, I hope your head feels better, soon!)
"Absolutely! Besides, there's nothing due this week, as far as I know, so we may as well relax!"
She watched as the performers all warmed up their instruments, wincing at some of the higher notes, hoping that the din would die down soon and that the music would be better than the warm ups.
((Feel better soon! Migraines are no fun. Take it easy! <3 ))
"Cheers," he said, "been drawin' since I can remember. I didn't mind giving me toys from the charities to the other kids as long as I got the paper and pencils. Its nice weather too, good time for a party. Maybe we can 'ave some hot chocolate too, or a wee fire an' roast smores."
(( thanks they are so not fun:/))
"I think I can make a fire happen. I've been practicing a fire charm for a while now, since I always get cold. If I do it right, it shouldn't even leave a mark on the grass!"
Aderyn pulled out her wand, pointing it at a spot not too far from the blanket. She spoke an incantation and a roaring, green and blue crackling fire sprung up from the ground. It gave off heat like a regular fire, but left the grass beneath it unharmed.
"There, that's more like it!"
"I think that's all we need. If anyone's forgotten anything, I'll run in after you!"
Down in Slytherin's dungeon common room, Sam was practicing the dance moves Magnus had been trying to teach her. With her broom substituting for a partner, she swayed and spun awkwardly around the room, bumping into furniture and, on occasion, other students. Finally an irritated Fifth-year told her to take her broom and make a nuisance of herself outside.
Fleeing to the dormitory, and throwing her already battered comet into her trunk, she flung herself down on the bed and declared to Chua that she was going to use a skiving snack on herself rather than embarrass Magnus with her inability to do anything gracefully. The little king snake hissed disapprovingly and tapped the painting that Sam had proudly taken down a quidditch poster to make room over her nightstand for.
"Do you really think he caress how well you dance?" The serpent asked. "Go outdoors, get some fressh air and forget about the ball for a bit. Really, how you can be sso confident facing down a bludger a hundred feet off the ground, and be frightened of a little dance isss beyond me." Chua coiled himself around his warmed rocks and would say no more.
Sam shrugged, and tossing her practice skirt aside, headed up the stairs. Perhaps she would stop by the greenhouse to see if the white lion orchids had learned to roar yet.
As she left the castle the sound of music and laughter caught her attention. Curious, she changed direction and headed for what appeared to be a student picnic on the greensward.
Smores, a fire and what was starting to look like a good party was starting. Then he turned and noticed Sam heading his way. He stood and yelled, "Hey Sam over 'ere!" Smiling brightly he dropped his pencil and book and ran over to greet her. "We've got such a party starting," he said eagerly. "Just use some care in the food I brought... I can't remember what I made the canary cream look like. I already turned into one, it was brilliant."
Sam laughed at the thought of Magnus turning into a giant canary, her previous funk quickly evaporating in the party atmosphere. "Well, good thing you're back to normal, or you'd have to go to the ball as that bird-guy character from the Magic flute story." She said as they headed back to where the musicians were practicing. "Ooh S'mores! How fun! D'ya like your s'mores lightly toasted, or burnt to a crisp and all melty inside?"
"'Friad i don't know that one. Is it anything like that one where the bloke turns into a giant beetle in Kafka's work? That was a weird read that was. Hmm, actually never 'ad 'em. I've just read about them and suggested it cos it seemed all camplike."
"It's a Muggle opera." Sam replied, grabbing a stick and some marshmallows. "I liked it 'cause for once the 'evil' wizard turns out to be the good guy who helps the hero save the princess from her mom, the really evil muggle queen.... Cool fire!" She added, expertly toasting a pair of marshmallows to an even golden brown as she talked. "Never read Kafka. Is he a transfigurations expert?" After sandwiching the hot gooey marshmallows between graham crackers with a bit of chocolate in each, she handed one to Magnus. "Here ya go, medium rare!"
Adrien sat back after he'd brought down the s'mores supplies and looked around the grounds. A lot of the student body had managed to find their way down to listen to the music and were relaxing on blankets of their own. He saw a blur and turned to see Magnus get up to greet Sam. "Hey, Sam! Welcome to our little picnic party," he said with a big smile. "Just grab a cushion, the more the merrier!" he watched as she settled in and started making s'mores for Magnus before he laid back on his cushion again, folding his arms behind his head and closing his eyes, letting the music wash over his ears as he relaxed in wait for the actual tryouts to begin.
( ) Paddy joined the group sitting on the grass just as Magnus turned into a bright yellow canary. As he changed back to normal, she couldn't help laughing although she did wonder how many more Canary Creams were hidden in the food. "I won't ask what you slipped into Flich's sarnies," she said, "but at least it proves that those Creams have the same effect on everyone" she added with a wink. She'd wondered if a werewolf would be affected in the same way, but wasn't willing to be the one to try it to find out.
She watched Sam and Adrien making s'mores, wondering what they'd taste like. The s'mores looked like they should be really tasty, but she'd thought that about some of the sweets she'd bought at Honeydukes, and had been disappointed to find they were revolting flavours.

She picked up her things and quickly ran back to Ravenclaw Tower to put her book bag away. She made sure to stop by the kitchen, before leaving the castle. She walked up to the group and greeted everyone. "Hi everyone! Sorry I'm late. I brought some freshly baked brownies and hot chocolate from the kitchen," she said as she placed the tray down on the blanket.
"Have I missed anything?"

After talking to the musicians Gaia had tucked her scarf inside her shirt and ran towards her friends. While she was still at a safe distance she started doing cartwheels making her way to her friends. "Hiya Everyone! I see we got some new people!" Gaia picked up a small soft cushion and threw it at Adrien () giggling "I think your skills are needed again. We need a bigger blanket!"
"So I requested a Tango for us, Magnus (), and if they have time some upbeat music for us to dance. It seems we get to have a mini concert since the musicians cleared the rest of their days to be here! One of them did mention they are getting hungry, so I am going to the kitchens again and get them food. I will also get some more personal blankets and cushions for us! I do need some help could one of you come with me?" Gaia smiled as she did some twirls around her friends.
( )
Adrien's little catnap was interrupted by the thump of a cushion hitting his face. He heard the giggle and immediately knew it was Gaia. He laughed and threw it right back at her before pulling out his wand and casting the engorgement charm once more on the blanket so their whole group can fit. "Hey Paddy, Hey Beth!" he greeted;he figured they arrived while he'd dozed off. Adrien then heard Gaia ask for help. "I can go with you to get things, if you want!"
Gaia laughed when the cushion flew past her head "Your aim is lacking. You need more practice!" Laughing Gaia walked over to Adrien "Come on. The musicians had some specific requests. I feel bad for the elves having to make this last minute, but maybe they can enjoy the music too!" Gaia beamed. ()
"Oh that sounds cool. Nah just a muggle though maybe he saw some magic and wrote the book?" Magnus took the offered smore, sniffed it and then threw caution to the wind and tired it. It was a sticky thing for sure with the marshmallow oozing in several directions, but the flavours were amazing and he had to resist licking his lips and his fingers. "That was delicious! You 'ave ta try one Paddy, they are sweet and gooey." Adrien looked completely relaxed and near sleeping. Woah Magnus thought, couldn't manage that one with so many about. He resisted the idea to think of a joke to play on the boy. "Just missed me turning into a canary. On me own joke too," he said to Beth laughing. He took a hot chocolate and sipped slowly. It was very good. "I'll come with ya, Gaia." Looking at Sam and Paddy he said, "now watch me stuff for me and do play some pranks. Back in a jiff."
