Thanks so much for the info!! I thought they said on the last day we would get more tokens by doing quests and through random events :(

I think the drop rate through quests has remained about the same, although personally I feel like I've gotten more today so far.
The RE might be more common today, or later today or something. We'll have to see I guess.
I still think they have been more generous this year overall, I counted out the amount of tokens I needed for everything I wanted and I've used over 700 so far that I've all gotten from this year. The 2012 shop seems to have the most items and I need 1300 tokens for everything I want. This year has definitely given out more compared to previous years, at least it seems that way.
I got about the same doing quests and random events aren't happening very often. I am hoping they might extend it for another day lol and good job on your tokens! :)

Most of mine have been from quests, I only got a lot of REs on the first day or two. I think they had increased the rate of those during that time because quests were still being wonky after the downtime. After that, the rate did seem to go down a bit.
At least the items won't be retiring, so there's always next year to keep saving your tokens.
I'm glad they aren't retiring any items :)

I got exactly 80 today. Wow.

To give some actual numbers...
I've earned ~630 new year tokens this year (No GA), with an additional 700 tokens from prior years saved. Which, assuming I haven't spent any ever, this year I was able to get almost double the amount of tokens compared to previous years (2014, 2015). This was doing most of the quests everyday, I believe I missed 1 full day, and missed Sarah's quest most of the days. Missing either Sarah or Saggi each day is fairly reasonable, imo. With the event going on for 14 days, that's an average ~45 tokens a day. If I had a GA, that would be ~67 tokens a day. 60-70 is fairly consistent with other posts on the thread. Over the course of the event, you could realistically earn 938 tokens with a GA.
To get everything in the shop from this year alone, you'd need 115 tokens, or in days, 2.5 without a GA, under 2 with a GA. The prior years are as follows:
Year | Total Items | Total Tokens | Avg Cost per Item 2009 | 48 | 767 | ~16 2010 | 28 | 387 | ~14 2011 | 81 | 1002 | ~12 2012 | 167 | 2503 | ~15 2013 | 99 | 328 | ~3 2014 | 56 | 136 | ~2.4 2016 | 46 | 115 | ~2.5 Total | 525 | 5238 | ~10
If you wanted to buy everything in the shop today, with tokens (I'm not looking up every SS price), it'd cost ~262m (Assuming you could get 5k+ tokens at 50k/token). Not completely unreasonable compared to completing full collections of other holiday items. A full set of this years items is roughly 5.75m, less than what you'd make by doing all the quests for a single day.
Not exactly sure what my point is with this, but it seems like this years cost to token payout was pretty good. I would even possibly argue we could have used more 1 to 2 point items this year to follow the trend. With a GA, you could fairly easily buy yourself 5 copies of all of this years items - or all of this years items, and all of 2010, 2013, and 2014; Or a full set of one of the expensive years, like 2009 or 2011. Note that the last two years you didn't earn even close to enough tokens to do this, with just the current year eating away 30-90%+ of your total tokens. 2012 is clearly the most expensive year; with almost double the items of any other year, and the second most expensive items, based on average prices. If the idea was to make items cheaper each year, 2012 would have needed an average price of under 12. Granted, this doesn't take into account the type of item, just the number of items. I'm not sure how they'll go about balancing future years items - If they increase the cost per item, which they almost have to, the older prices prices won't make sense... Only time will tell...
Note: Approximate numbers, I realize I didn't account for RE's. I don't promise my shop prices are perfect either, but they should be close.
