YW! Dang sorry about the basement. My friend here had the same issue, and they had to re-do a portion of her basement to fix it. Another reason, I am glad I dont have a basement. But I miss the storage a basement would give.

yea.. it is nasty at least with this not being our place and the landlord doing nothing about it we don't have to fix it just hope we can get our own place soon :/

Good it will come out of his pocket, and will get more expensive if he doesnt take care of it. If he doesnt when you move out report him to the health department, and any department in the city that deals with housing issues. I would call a realtor and ask, if they know who you could turn him into for doing nothing. I believe in giving karma a helping hand, when its necessary. That is not healthy for you or your family. My sister did that to her landlord. he wanted more rent and wasnt repairing anything. So she found another place and turned him in.

the only thing is we can't afford rent anywhere else :/ we are kinda stuck here.. until we find something else

I totally dont blame you!!! You rarily find a decent landlord they want the rent money and that is it. Oh hubby and I are the exception. We have a rental company taking care of our house. They routinely inspect the property for repairs needed and any damage. Plus renter agrees to tell rental agency of any needed repairs. Any leak or issue is dealt with immediately. We just had the main bathroom re-tiled in the shower area and painted. My rental agency knows, that when a renter leaves to do all and any repairs, plus have a crew come in to clean. If carpet needs shampooing it gets done, too. Last year our renter left, and we went to check property. I blew a gasket, rental agency hadnt got cleaning crew out in a timely manner and had the nerve to show my house looking like a pigsty. I went to the rental agency and lost my mind. I told the rental agency manager, that I was embarrassed they had showed my house in that condition and I wouldnt stand for that. Either get a cleaning crew asap or we would go over her head to her boss. Her boss is very serious no nonsense person and I love that. Well my house got cleaned in record time. I plan on checking every time renter leaves.

Your landlord sucks to the max, and very cheap and lazy. Check some of the housing agencies, they may know of programs that will make it easier to buy a home. Lucky your husband can repair tings. My hubby does most the repairs on our home even electrical and plumping. I wouldnt let kids near the basement, because of the mold and mildew can be dangerous for them, and you.

Lucky for you both your hubby knows how to repair things. I bet some of your hubby's attitude is having his family in such a place with so many issues. I know he has to be worried about the basement, and its a health hazard. Your landlord is a total useless human being. Definitely when you get another place, turn him in. He totally deserves it. Let your hubby know, your both doing the best you can and you appreciate his effort. I am sure you do. Men have to hear things like that, so they know you know they are doing their best. His probably mentally beating himself up.
