Aderyn gasped as Magnus () stumbled back a bit.

"Sorry!"

She grinned as Beth () complimented her and Magnus' attempts at the jinx.

"Thank you! We're really trying hard!"

She put an arm around Magnus' shoulder as he spoke.

"You would have gotten it eventually! It's just better learning with friends! I'd say we helped each other equally."

"'S'alright," he said, "'twas a brilliant go of it." He nodded and blushed at Aderyn's words and her shoulder around him. "We definitely are tryin' hard and 'elping where we can," he said conceding that they both helped even though he thought that she helped more.

Beth turned to the rest of the group and asked, "Would you like to try the jinx before we learn our next spell?"

(OOC: Last day to sign up for the tournament is TUES. Jan. 5th. Tournament will start WED. Jan. 6 unless anyone has a conflict. In that case, we could start FRI Jan. 8th instead. Every participant will be a winner. :) List of spells learned can be found in the first post)

Aderyn stood by as Beth () taught them the latest spell, committing it to memory for practice later on. In the meantime, she considered the tournament. She was nervous about signing up - she still wasn't overly confident with offensive spells, but she hoped that her skill with defensive magic would get her through or, at the very least, keep her from getting completely flattened.

Taking a deep breath to steel herself, Aderyn stepped forward and jotted her name down on the tournament list.

"If you want, you can practice any of the spells with the dummies. It would be a good idea to practice a bit before the tournament."

Aderyn smiled at Beth ().

"Thanks; good idea!"

Stepping aside so others had a chance to sign up, she moved over to where one of the dummies stood, still and silent, and raised her wand, ready to practice. The hand motion for the spell was a bit awkward but she managed it well enough a few times and so she added the incantation.

"Petrificus totalus!"

She watched as the dummy in front of her wobbled a bit and finally fell over. She had no idea if the spell had worked correctly because an inanimate dummy couldn't exactly be properly petrified, but at least something had happened.

Magnus practically flew to the sign up sheet. Scrawled his name and then went over to a clear space to work on the body bind curse. He practised his wand movements for awhile before he felt confident enough to think about saying it out loud. Only problem was, did he need a partner this time or would the dummy work?

"I think Aderyn () is ready to practice against someone."

"Would anybody else like to sign up for the tournament?" she asked around.

() Watching as Magnus moved away from the table to practice, Lyn walked over to the table and jotted her name down on the parchment. "I'm in."

He nodded and thanked Beth () and wandered back over to Aderyn () "What say you?" he asked. "Fancy 'aving me as a partner again? Practice putting me in a body bind so you can snog me all you want?" He really needed to stop flirting with every girl but he just couldn't seem to stop it and his cheeks blushed as soon as he said it. Maybe he could learn a stop talking spell on himself?

Aderyn laughed as Magnus () joined her once again. He was really nice and she enjoyed working with him.

"Now now, don't let my girlfriend overhear you saying that! She'll have your head!"

She winked and held up her wand, taking a few steps back.

"Let me know when you're ready to practice!"

He smiled, glad Aderyn seemed okay with practising with him. He admired her cleverness and she was easy to talk to. "It wouldn't do to 'ave me 'ead mounted on the Ravenclaw common room wall," he said with a wink. "Though, would make it easier to get me answers in Astronomy. Ghastly at that subject I am." He got into position so he could "in theory" fall onto the padding. Of course one can't really tell their body to fall in the correct position so there was always the possibilities of missing. "All right, hit me. And don't worry if I miss," he laughed, "aint much in me 'ead anyway."

Aderyn groaned in sympathy as Magnus () recounted his difficulties with Astronomy.

"For me it's Arithmancy - it takes me hours and days to study for that class!"

She watched as he got into position, biting her lip fretfully as she prepared to cast an actual jinx on an actual human being for the first time in her life. She hoped that her aim was good and that she didn't somehow screw up the jinx and cause any kind of horrible damage.

"Here goes.... Petrificus totalus"

Aderyn grimaced, waiting with bated breath for the results of her jinx.

He was majorly impressed she was even taking Arithmancy. "Woah, that's one tough subject," he exclaimed, "I'm not smart enough to find the room for that class, let alone take it!" THe spell hit him and his arms and legs sprung together of their own accord. He fell backwards, hitting the padding and then bouncing a small bit to land on the floor. He said ow as hit hit the ground but nothing came out. It was an odd experience to be trapped so in his own body. He was super proud of his friend though.

"That was amazing! Great job, Aderyn!" Beth applauded.

She turned to her sister and asked, "Lyn (), would you like to practice any spells on me?"

Aderyn watched as her jinx struck Magnus () and he fell to the padding on the floor. She was relieved that at least he'd fallen the right way, and while she was proud of her success, she also felt a little bit guilty about actually jinxing someone, even just for practice.

"Thanks!"

She smiled at Beth () and then rushed toward Magnus, pointing her wand at him on the ground.

"Finite incantatem!"

The termination charm negated the effects of the jinx and as Magnus regained mobility, Aderyn held out her hand to help him up.
