Having a limited supply instead of a permanently enforced price ceiling would prolly have been a much better idea...
Rerelease the old bobblehead prizes? I mean they were hard to get, but since the loyalty shop is now a thing, I'd like to see some of the old CS bobble prizes either in there/Crystal shop/Antique shop.
I'd rather them re-release the bobbleheads in some way then the items themselves. Earlier this year (or was it last year?) they released a couple of the really hard to find ones into the MC for 50mil a pop. They should continue doing that.

Maybe the staff should consider opening a retired item shop where the items are in limited quantities, but high price and limited time, and it rotates the stock in and out to keep it from being majorly devalued?
Either way I'd like to be able to obtain items from achievements and old plots that I managed to miss.
Also, I have seen the lifelike black widow in the "should be rereleased" list
ABSOLUTELY NOT. This is one of the top prizes for the 2013 cosplay contest, it shouldn't be released in a shop.
There are things that can be rereleased and there are things that really shouldn't. Otherwise, what's the point of taking part in events.
Also, don't gauge rare wearables by how many there are in shops and galleries. You know where most of the rare wears are? In wardrobes.
You mean like the cash shop hustler?

I'd be okay with that; Even if they're hard to get items, I'd just love to see them available to purchase/earn for other users
I'd more like if it were the collectible items that are no longer obtainable and they're only able to be bought direct to collection. Thinks like books and plushies dont just have a set number that stays constant and can be infinitely exchanged. Their numbers reduce and those are the old retired ones I'd like to see as a result. By making them direct to collection (direct to books read, etc) you eliminate the element of people reselling a limited quantity to make a profit. Still would hurt value a little because people would have an alternate source, but eh.
It is possible for a pet that is-now as strong and accomplished and bedecked and armed as a pet that was-then, but can't get the drop-item or anything like it. It's not actually a measure of hard work and training to get that drop-item. The BAs and the battle community deliberately enforces a "fuck you we were here first" attitude under the guise of "preserve value", so yes it really is about old players vs new players. Boss battles are graded on a curve, and due to the way combat works and the tier system works this also favors older players.
Neopets "preserves value" vomits. Virtual pet games are just for fun, and the fun people are having over there is being dogs in the manger. Kadoatie overfeeders say "click faster". Maybe they really are that preternaturally fast in RL, maybe they've figured out an autofeed macro that Viacom/Leapfrog can't or won't track. Does not matter. The fun they are having is in preventing other people from having fun. Feeding that many kads is hard even without that. Screw that we don't need that here.
It is possible to collect every single item in Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker and these games aren't any less fun that this is possible. Heck, those games never introduce new items and they're fun to play over again and try to get all the items again (or not) if you like. Subeta is sufficiently fun that it can survive introduction of new items without considering this "preserve value" thing with deep reverence.
@blackwolf_2009 The cash shop hustler works the exact way you just described. He offers a limited number of an item, that was in the cash shop before but is currently unobtainable. Once the item is sold out or once the staff decides it's not selling anymore it goes away and a new item takes its place.

a competitive game is a successful game. that's how online games became so big. even single player console game developers are finding ways to get high score lists and global rankings embedded in their games. And i for one am thrilled with things being this way. If you're not good at something you shouldn't just be able to reap the rewards. If you don't do something you shouldn't get the same rewards as someone who did. That's a positive model that encourages people to actually play the game.
I've been around long enough to have some of these prizes, and you know what? HAVE AT 'EM. said it best, 'preserving value' hurts the game. No item should ever vanish from the market. Limited re-releases, high-cost sp shops and new events or achievements with retired prizes are absolutely essential to the long-term success of the game. It feels so 'special' to exclude people... not. I've had items on my Wishlist for nearly nine years. Your feelings will survive.
In short, I support this.
