Given you are using tomes on a pet of your size, I would say auto-training is a nice addition if you are not able to log in every x hours to make sure your training is back to back.

A lot of people like to use it for 'smaller' pets.

I don't myself, as I probably would get 2 sessions a day which is hardly worth it for me.
