January : Telenine.
Chosen because January is New Year, season of good resolutions (the Telenine is a faithful puppy) but also the season where we go and we hold resolutions for three days (The Telenine is also a massive goofball) It's opposed to the Kumos's stoic nature
February : Irion
Chosen because I wanted something that was majestic lore-wise. We don't have a Subetapedia article for them yet, so my choice was pretty damn superficial. I wanted something that was birdlike, but opposite to the Lain, so the Mallarchy, Cybill and Noktoa were no go. My STRONG! bird slot could have been the Fester or the Irion, and I went with the Irion out of personal preference.
March : Legeica
Mostly because of the myths of Kiyo, Marsh being the season of rebirth after winter. Again, another specie with no Subetapedia information. I wanted something representing kindness, yet strength, and the Legeica fit the bill pretty much. It is also one of the most popular species onsite, which was my main argument to take it over the Neela.
April : Lain
It was originally in August, but moved into spring by popular demands. The Lain is something small and elegant that I wanted to counterbalance the Irion (They were originally six months apart, Irion in Feb. and Lain in August) to cement this.
May : Ontra
The sole Ontra NPC onsite is associated with intellect and of course I wanted final season to be covered by something smart! Otters are in general a duality, between fun-loving and smart, and I hesitated between May and June to place it, but June was a much better fit for the Mahar. Again, the lack of a subetapedia article doesn't allow me to cement my argument
June: Mahar
I wanted a dragon, but not like 385850 dragons. Originally, I had the Paralix in March, but decided to go with the Mahar out of personal preference. I like the fact we have a dragon to go and kickstart summer, because dragons are gr8. NO SUBETAPEDIA AGAIN, I THINK I SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO SUBETAPEDIA but yeah, Mahars are being of mystery and wisdom
July: Illumis
WE WENT WITH ILLUMIS FOR JULY, RIGHT. The main argument brought was firefly season, and the fact that, where I'm from, summer is short-lived. I like having bug representation onsite, and the Bumbus didn't really cut it for me.
August : Sheeta
The Sheeta was originally in April, but I felt like having two hooved animals in a row was a little much, so it was switched with the Lain. Like the Irion, I don't have a strong idea why I went with the Sheeta. I considered the Pherret as well, due to mischievous weasel stereotypes.
September : Kumos
The Kumos is the mascot of the site, therefore, it needs to be the sign for the birthday of the site. That's it. That's literally it. Of course I'm going to go and take the most popular pet and throw it in September. :D Also, stoic nature for back to school season. Hella
October : Lasirus
The Montre was originally holding this place, but I was told too many canids so yeah. Lasirus. Charlie was also considered but it needs a hell of a revamp beforehand. I wanted something that was close to the season of Halloween, without being the Harvester or Ghostly. That's it.
November : Feli
I wanted the perfect pet to represent "Stay-at-home-season-with-hot-cocoa-and-many-blankets" and the Feli fitted the bill. November is also a month that has many death-related holidays, such as All Saints Day, and the idea of having the 9-lived animal represent this month pleased me
December: Anyu
Close call, but I felt the Anyu had a stronger symbolic value over the Cybill. Blame Melody. Besides, bears are awesome. That's it. It just felt natural to me to have the Anyu there.
