I am a mystical and rare dragon. Found in the clouds of the endless sky.

Bocgestala (pl. Bocgestalan). Bocgestalan are a member of the family draconis. They make their homes in libraries, museums, and archives (or any place with a good store of books) and are quite the pest to those employed in magical libraries.
These creatures are generally 3-4 feet in length from snout to tip and are quite slender. They rarely weigh more than 10-15 lbs. Their scales are supple and almost leathery. They have round pupils and the standard breed is brown and tan (it is thought that this coloration evolved to support camouflage among stacks of books). Bocgestalan have developed variations in coloring over the years to adapt to different types of book bindings and libraries: they can range from white to black.
These curious creatures live off of the knowledge stored in books. They have mild psychic abilities that allow them to pull books off of their shelves and then pull knowledge from the books that they haven't encountered. As the Bocgestala absorbs this knowledge, the words vanish from their books, leaving blank pages in their wake.
Bocgestalan can live for centuries, and are quite shy. While they have the capacity to devastate a library if left unchecked, if fed regularly with brand new books, they can be trained to eat only these (instead of the rare and valuable books they instinctively prefer).
The patient and dedicated librarian who tames a Bocgestala will have at her disposal an invaluable resource: a creature with an immense store of knowledge whom can aid researchers of nearly any field of study.

The Autumn Salamander is a rarely-seen but common inhabitant of the forests of the British Isles. They exist in a symbiotic relationship with fireflies but prefer cooler temperature, which explains their rare sightings, as fireflies tend to emerge in the warmer summers.
They possess many mystical properties, including a secretion from their underbelly which clears many respiratory disorders. Their flesh, however, is quite poisonous, as indicated by the bright orange color.
Their natural predators are non-magical birds as well as hippogriffs, who are immune to their poison. Unfortunately, like many amphibians in both the muggle and wizarding worlds, their natural habitat is disappearing from muggle encroachment.

Above you see pictured the rare and magical dik-dik. Wherever this dik-dik goes, time slows down and everything is encased in beautiful twilight. In this way, the dik-dik can essentially live forever, because minutes to it can be weeks or months to other creatures.

The Neri was created as a magical backlash to Sirens-singing water creatures- who lure to their death unsuspecting males (both muggle and wizard). The Neri has no ability to lure victims with voice, having no mouth. Through the ages, Neris have developed the ability to communicate telepathically with other deep sea inhabitants. Rarely caught on film, this Neri seems to have amassed quite a gathering of companions, including a rarely seen-in-water budasaur.

The magical orb grows on The Wishing Tree once in 100 years. From this orb hatches an Orbital, a wondrous creature who instills a sense of goodwill to all creatures great and small on all who are lucky to set eyes upon it.
Going Fishing!!! 🐟

Mer are perhaps one of the most diverse species in the world, even more so than humans. They come in all shapes and sizes from all over the world, from freshwater great lakes, to the freezing waters of the arctic, to the warm tropical coasts. From shallow coastal waters to the deep ocean where only the strongest survive. All Mer share several common traits: a humanoid upper body and the lower body of a fish, both lungs and gills to survive above or below the water (although their lack of appendages to facilitate swift travel on land makes them disinclined to remain in the former for long), and voices designed to be clearly audible beneath water. From there, Mer differ drastically depending on their environment.
Mer who live in tropical waters mirror the other marine life with whom they share the reefs. The different subspecies of Mer living there have bodies ranging in size from human toddlers at maturity to slightly longer than the average human adult. Their scales are brightly colored to blend in with their environment and to attract prey. Their hair, while appearing similar to humans, is very thin and fine to provide minimal resistance in the water, and is generally colored to match their scales.
Though they do not clothe themselves in a manner similar to humans, both males and females like to decorate themselves with trinkets and other objects they find. The amount of jewelry a Mer has is a good indicator of social standing or skill.
A human--be they witch, wizard, or muggle--seeking to befriend a Mer would do well to present a gift of this manner. Take care not to gift one of them with food, however, or you might give them the wrong message!
*Always be aware of a Mer's mouth. They will often keep them firmly closed to prevent anything unsavory from entering and in this state, they are nearly invisible. If they flash their teeth at you, then it's would be in your best interests to move away. Quickly.

Hey guys! This challenge is over, but I'm not going to lock up the thread until Gryffindor's able to award points! Unfortunately, I doubt it'll be today. Hopefully within the next couple of days she'll be able to do so. Thanks for your patience!
Thanks for the participation, I'll tally up the points now. Sorry for being so late, I've been in and out of the hospital.
