i've only ever caught 2 shinies in game, marred and dugtrio. like you, most of mine are from events. i was so pleased when i got my 3ds, because until then i had to miss out on most of the events, because my router was incompatible with the regular ds, but now with the 3DS it connects easily so i don't have to miss out.

i kinda want to play one of the games now, but i'm not sure which...probably gold... like i said, i prefer silver, but i decided to keep that as my 'completed' game, i usually buy one of each title, so i can have one to complete and keep adding pokemon too from events and things, and one that i can play over and over. ^^

Oh, wow. For almost all of the events here, I had to go to Gamestop to get them. I think there's only been one, for Jirachi, that I could get at home until this one.

That's smart :) I love having a finished game but I also love replaying a game. However, a lot of things get lost in my house and I was younger when I had most of my pokemon games (I'm only 17 now) so now I only know where Diamond, White, White 2 and Y are, so I can't really do that anymore. :/ I want to get the newer games, but I have to save up for college and stuff first :P

yeah for a few of mine, i had to go to a GAME store, but they always had the events at the store that was the most awkward to get to >< it was a nightmare. so i only did it once.

aw man, i'd hate to lose my games, that would be awful :(

Oh, wow, that sucks. The store that I had to go to for events was actually pretty easy to go to.

It's not great, but we're likely going to move within the next few years, so I'll probably be able to find them soon enough :P

[-Pan] you guys are so lucky to have store that do pokemon events. if i want some pokemon that require event, i had to play using emulator on PC and cheat instead :P

my favorite probably silver/gold/crystal version because the game mechanics are still not that complicated and they have colors! ruby/sapphire doesn't fancy me much since they add so many new features. leaf green/fire red is nice because of nostalgia and the old pokemons and they get rid of some features from ruby/sapphire. the latest version i played was pearl which i love the battling revamp, the separation attack and special attack not based on element type. finally hitmonchan can shine. hahaha.

i hope you guys join in Kiyo battles. it sucks to missed out on the rewards. Kiyo is so much easier to damage than last year's boss. a lot of losing is normal for boss fight. i lost more than 400 times already. haha. gogogo. i'm pumped after the fight. haha.

Aw, that's no fun, but at least you get them somehow.

Those are good points. Some features in the newer games make them so much more complicated. I don't particularly like the 3D-ness (not sure what word to use lol) of X and Y and I like the bikes of previous games a lot more than roller skates, which I find hard to use. I usually like the ways that they update the games for newer versions, but sometimes they do too much, and a lot of newer pokemon are really just unnecessary. I don't know if they can improve much since Diamond and Pearl - the battling was better, the graphics were better but not changed too much, and the new pokemon were still good. Black and White were still good games, but that was when the new pokemon really took a turn for the worse.

I did try to battle Kiyo and do what little bit of damage I could, but every time I tried to take a turn the loading symbol kept going until the battle timed out. :( I'll try again during the next round, though!

[-Pan] yep they always do too much. it look impressive on paper but not so much when play. i too don't really fancy new pokemons unless new evolution from older one. every time i play i usually end up searching for dragonite, tyranitar and charizard for my team. and of course a "water slave" to dump all the water HM.

did you choose more than 2 weapons when battling Kiyo? i get the endless loading when i accidentally choose more than 2 weapons. refreshing the page fix it. if it is like last year, we need to do certain minimum damage to be eligible for boss prizes. thank goodness we don't get massive lag during Kiyo battle.

aw man that sucks you can't get them! poor you! i shouldn't complain since at least i have some chance!

though i just realised that you need to get some kind of card to get the code to get shiny rayquaza, it says to get it from participating retailers, but then doesn't tell you where those retailers are >< so annoying! so i probably won't be able to get this! ;-;

Exactly. New evolutions are usually pretty cool, yeah, but by now they can't really add any more to the older pokemon so mostly they just make new species that look like a redesign of older ones or of random real-life things. :/ That's a good team. I usually have a "water slave" too, lol. It's crazy how much you end up needing those HMs.

That must have been the problem xD I don't think I'll even be able to do whatever the minimum requirement is, so I'll probably just stick to crafting weapons. I'm hoping that will qualify for some prizes since they're saying it's basically just an alternative to battling.

haha. no worries though. i don't even play newer versions. i always go back to crystal and fire red most of the time.

[-Pan] i think crafting a few weapons should be enough for minimum damage. at least we get that option this year. my shop flourish exponentially due to this plot. hahaha.

they are good for i hit KO kind of battle. but tyranitar and dragonite is really pain in the ass to to train and evolve. i heard about competitive pokemon battle. it sound fun since it utilize all those stat altering and annoying moves. is it really fun?

Yeah, it should be. And options are good. I always feel left out when battling is required. Haha, that's good ;P

That's my kind of battle, lol. At least to get through to plot of the game. I haven't actually done any competitive battling yet! I'm not really fond of battling pokemon, I never found it as fun as everyone else does.

[-Pan] i feel the same last year. it sucks to do small damage or get blocked altogether while the boss just kill you right away. but not this year! i spent so much for battle, so i am happy with this plot.

yeah, i love 1 hit KO battle too. in fact, all my pokemon moves are just damage. but it is annoying when fighting faster pokemon where they can disable or confuse you. or fight with chansey or blissey. they have huge hp and defense. then, they use charm.

Finding shiny pokemon was almost a job when I was a child. Lol I knew lots of people that made actual money out of trading shiny pokemon in real life, out of how rare they were. A kid in my school got like 100 bucks a month, which was a lot to a child like me. I remember not even being envyous, because I hated the infinite farming to get one.

people made money off pokemon? i never knew that. we usually just envy each other and start grinding to get one ourselves. but we usually got useless shiny.

It does, but I still got prizes for what little I did. One of my pets did 0 damage and still got the Sweet Spirit Offering and Restless Sad Spirit, haha. This plot was overall pretty good!

That's my fighting style as well :P Although too often there are those battles where just attacking doesn't work, so having a varied team helps.

That's crazy! Haha. Pokemon wasn't considered cool when I was in school, so I've never even heard of anything like that.

What do you guys think of the plot prizes?

[-Pan] good! see, you can get something out of it. i got all but the weapon, and i only want the weapon, not the others. haha. still, i am doing well for my tier. so better luck next year.

the prizes are mostly cool, especially from battling. prize shop item that i like is

I'm almost done editing what I wrote so I can show you. Progress has been slow because I have always been bad at writing dialog, unfortunately. :c (Damn you social anxieties! You foil me yet again!)

Is there some secret tip to the battling that I don't know? I have been tranining my pets for weeks and haven't beat a single challange ever since the goohound was retired.

-Pan

I don't know about the plot prizes because I only got the restless sad spirits and offerings. I know I want the rest of the items but I just couldn't bring myself to spend 5m or more on the plot ending, too poor for that.

In relation to the points shop I liked them, lots of books, cute lanterns and statues (not to mention clothing). Could have been better, but still pretty nice.

really? can't wait to read it :)

there is no real secret to battling. just keep training your pet first. don't bother with beating the opponent too soon. you can, but you probably need expensive weapon that you will outgrow too soon. raise your intel with books or mystic spindle game. spindle is cheap when your intel is low. so you can at least use champion scroll. and always use your exp right away.

what weapon did you use?

I don't think my weapons matter that much because at tier 1 the most useful ones seems to be bombs. Some are just op for most battles.

Other than that the Dark Matter Sai is a personal favorite with mine, just as dark spells.

yeah tier 1 is not that exciting. just keep training. pick up phoenix quill from millionaire center before the season end. weapons from item hunt and quentin quest rewards are usually decent and cheap. do battle quest if you got the time. they are pretty generous with exp.

huh subeta is pretty boring after the plot ended. barely anything new to read in forum too. what do you guys think?
