Im totally cool with this, as much as I enjoy a good debate, people got really catty.
Debating is throwing ideas, not trying to force your opinion on everyone. People didnt seem to understand that half the time. It was all about 'I like this you should like it too' or the opposite. It just didnt fit in here.
Glad to see it gone :)
Interesting. Can't say I used it much, but if it puts this many people at ease, sure.
I completely understand why they were removed, and I do agree on the decision to do so. One question I have (I don't know of this has already been asked) is that even though you can no longer post there, could we still be able to view our past discussions? I ask this because while I've posted very few times there, many of the threads were actually quite helpful in learning about certain topics and gaining a better understanding on why people think the way that they do on those topics. Also, I would like to be able to go back and view some of my own post in case need be in the future. If that's not possible, I understand why, but it would be helpful.

I think this is a very good change for Subeta. While there were many people using the debate forum in a positive way, there were too many negative/bigoted/inappropriate comments and topics made to justify its existence on a pet and avatar site. There are plenty of other venues all across the internet that are geared specifically toward debate, and it's always seemed really out of place on Subeta.
Users can still get help and advice on the Chit-Chat forum while avoiding the negativity, personal attacks, and inappropriate comments that often occurred in topics on the Debate forum. Excellent change!
I guess it's just as well. Last time I checked it out practically every thread was locked anyway.
Thank you so much for deleting that section of the forums.. All I ever saw there was hate and hostility. I have not looked there for ages, but I am pretty sure things were the same. This is a place for happiness and love. Not hate and hostility. <3

A bit surprised at this change...but perhaps its a good change in the end.
ngl I'm sad to see it go. ;l I feel like if you were able to go into a debates thread and keep yourself level-headed with your response, you won the forums. xD Sure, some people got carried away, and that also includes me on more than one occasion, but it was still pretty informative as a forum. This decision feels like copping out / taking the easier route. If people were still being unreasonable dicks to each other post community guidelines, give them warnings. This just sends the message that there's no way a debates thread would not have escalated into personal attacks, etc., and what kind of message is that? We can be civilized, right? ;l
I think this was a step in the right direction. Just hope people don't take their debates to the sb and cause issues there.

Thank you, Keith, for saying that debating the morality/existence of trans people is actually against the community guideline of no transphobia! I love that you have a rule specifically against transphobia. I feel so much safer here without the debate forum... except I guess now it's harder to tell who the assholes are, lol. But I'd probably rather not know. This is my happy place, where I go when the world is overwhelming. Where I can dress up my male avatar in feminine clothes and not be harassed, where I can make joyful rainbow queer pets, and just be myself.
Like Keith said, there are other forums here like under Chit-Chat like Relationships and Advice, where people can talk about exploring their sexual orientation and gender identity. I'm sure that's not being banned! But debating whether or not we're wrong is not the same thing as that, at all. Subeta is an LGBTQ positive site (we have a man/man couple and a woman/woman couple as NPCs, an agender NPC, etc) and so I think we deserve to feel safe here without people debating us. Like others have said, there are a million other places on the internet you can go to argue. And if you don't like that you can't say bad things about LGBTQ people, you're free to leave.
I am sure a lot of eyes will be there to make sure that does not happen. ;)

- That helps to know. Thank you. <3

That was one part of the forum that I avoid. Thank you
I just wanna vouch for the Issues & Advice and Relationships forums. I have seen some really amazing, kind, honest conversations there about sexuality and gender, and gotten some good advice on that myself from people who were going through the same thing. And there's cute and casual threads there too where you know you're not going to be under any kind of scrutiny for your identity. As far as I've seen, those threads discussing gender and sexuality only attract people who have experienced something similar to what you're asking about.
This is a step in the right direction. People were getting too rude. Let's keep Subeta a safe playground for all.
Good call. I posted there occasionally but hated looking at the thing. It was like dipping my hand into a boiling pot of crabs. If I didn't get burned out by my own dumb idea, I was gonna get pinched by the crabs.
please send me any/all and so I can keep them safe
I can agree where you said that the site was a place to celebrate individual differences. I just disagree on the debate forums being the best place. I avoided that area all the time. The chit-chat forum where people question things seems to be a more positive area to visit. Have you ever checked there to see if any topics that was in the debate section gave you the same insights you felt you got from debate?
