They need to have it where it doesn't allow you to save it if it goes over. Now I am scared to keep getting warned for this when clearly im not out to receive warnings, it is an accident!

Oh man, that sucks dude! Augh, I'd be SO pissed to get an official warning just because I was a few pixels over the size requirement. Flat out, they should NOT let you submit anything bigger than the size - or resize it to be the appropriate size! It's not that hard!

Automatic resizer seems the only logical thing to do.

I don't even bother with Forum images and signatures anymore. I received a verbal warning for one years back [after having it for over a year], and it was over by 5px, and they wiped it all. I was so livid, I understand giving the warning, but to wipe it, is just going to far in my opinion. They need to give the person a chance to correct the issue before they just wipe it completely. I had text in my signature that I could not remember after they wiped it. I have never used a forum image/signature since that warning, with an exception for dance/bite/tot/etc links for events. Other than that, I'm not gonna bother with a feature that it completely preventable if they just put in the ability to deny over-sized set ups.

Agreed - them wiping out both just irritated me more than anything. It was like a slap after a verbal warning and I was really mad because I could NOT for the life of me remember what I had in my signature. I knew I had my Wheeljack banner, but I also knew I had font and just...no idea what it was.

I've had my forum signature for... well, since the year the Happy Fetus came out and there was that big hoo-ha in the B&C forum, so I've never really had this problem. I figured the site probably had an automatic resizer. Why don't we?

LOL... I even checked yesterday to make sure it would fit both width and height. Guess I did the math wrong <_< I would really appreciate it if someone would have just told me that it is too big (I'd have changed immediately), instead of IMMEDIATELY recieving a warning..

I ceased trying to do forumset images (heck, even just plain links or text) years ago. Forget if mine was a verbal or full warning back when I got it (user dashboard has 1 under warnings so... eh?)

Honestly it seems like one of those rules that is no longer applicable to the current site but keeps getting enforced anyway/? Like above talking about the pet leashes, or how the posts now span the whole screen, the purpose it had originally has been fixed through changes to the site, and it no longer seems necessary.

Is there an active Problems & Bugs topic about the sizing calculator being off? That would be the first place before an automatic resizer thread in Suggestions & Ideas because this is trivial and really common.

Agreed, I think the entire ruling around forum images should be updated and changed. The avatar and the pet leash take up way more space than a signature+forum image, they should change the rules around.

Yeah, especially since it seems like it's a pretty common thing for new users to get warned for. I know I was terrified to even go on the site for like a month after I got it, let alone be on the forums. Definitely not a good experience for a new user to go through, especially when they don't understand the rule about it/there being different types of warnings.

I wasn't even new and I panicked! It just freaked me out and I was so confused...augh, it really is something that does NOT warrant a warning. I can see if you have a MASSIVE image(s) in your signature and such, but most people have banners or gifs and it just...it's a rule that needs updated.

This is one of the most annoying things about subeta imo. I've had one verbal warning and one official warning about it for being just slightly oversized before, it's ridiculous. It's not like I had a 1200x800 size image in my signature.

There needs to be an auto-resize so that an image can't be over the the limit, and/or they need to make it so that it gives you an error if you do go over the limit so that it can't be saved, especially if you add text to your signature and it goes over the limit for the total combined px allowance.

If I didn't need to advertise my Etsy shop I probably wouldn't even be using a forum image at all, or a signature. :/

The auto-resizer needs to be a thing definitely, that one has come up several times here. The NOW allowing images larger than the allowed px should already be a thing, I hate that it isn't. I also thing both the forum image AND signature should all be on one page, not separate pages - especially if they're going to have them BOTH equal towards the allowed limit (which is ridiculous, but whatever).

I'm pretty sure I once got a verbal warning for 'begging'. I was asking for a quick loan and I didn't realize it counted as begging. But the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened to anyone I know actually took place on another site, if it's okay for me to comment on it.

I was in a skype chat for the site and a friend of mine decided to jokingly auction all of us off. She got the banhammer for "human trafficking". What she was doing was not human trafficking. I'm pretty sure if I called the hotline for human trafficking to report what she did, they would hang up on me.

Ah, that makes sense...sucks, but makes sense. I could see how it would go as 'begging', even if it was a loan. >.> Rough. At least it was just a verbal warning.
