I love this idea!! It makes me sad to think about all the old opponents rotting away
After 10 wins with Ice King. I just normally ignore the RE and refresh the page. Don't see what the big deal about the RE popping up. But everybody has their pet peeves. But various levels of random battle challengers would be cool. Achievements would be a motivational aspect of training your pet. To beat these opponents. Loot could be amulets. Can never have enough of those.

Seems overly complicated and I'm not a fan of the original loot. I think just giving out the original exp would be plenty generous.
I never complain against the opportunity to beat more guys up. Count me in. =)

See, I'd be ok with the original loot IF
there were multiple challengers in the RE pool, and that means that if you beat them once, you have to wait for another RE, so basically if there's a pool of challengers it might actually take a long time to get that loot.
Otherwise, the 1 per RE with multiple challengers would be painful and kind of not even worthwhile. The idea that you have a specific amount of time to get your 5/10 battles in is good without the original loot is nice too.
I'm all for this idea, I'd love to see more battle RE's
very nice idea. i like having lower difficulty challengers as RE. and the rewards doesn't have to be items either. exp or account bound booster is enough. beating random things that popup randomly is fun.
As someone who doesn't battle I'm not sure I would want this to be a thing? It would be great for people who do like battling, but for us it's just an inconvenience that makes "useful" REs rarer (I think? I don't know if they're weighted differently or what). It would depend on what other REs it was affecting the chances of or if you could buy an item to keep it from happening, for me.
Assume there are 20 different REs, if all REs have the same odds (they don't, but this is simplifying things) you have a 5% chance of getting a specific one. add 3 more REs into the mix, chances go down to 4.35% to get a specific RE. adding a few more REs into the system isn't going to affect rates all that much, especially since some are weighted to happen more often than others, they can manipulate it to not throw off the balance.
Not really.. every RE has a chance to show up. And can change the rate in which each RE appears. I'm sure she could adjust it accordingly, as she's done so with other REs.
Yeah, okay, that's really not as big a change as I would have thought (can you tell I was never good at probability). Carry on, then, battlers.
I don't really know how many different REs we have but I picked 20, which sounded like a reasonable lower bound. so yeah it isn't a huge change, I don't think anyone would notice it =p again though the REs have their own probability weights I believe, but it could probably be made that these are rarer than average.
I don't really like the idea of there being loot (especially original loot) attached, but otherwise this looks like a fun idea!
How about instead of a widget, the random event for Ice King (and possibly other challengers) activates a buff? It would basically work pretty close to how the extra Wizard quest buff works - it shows up in the default sidebar as long as you have that "Subeta: Username" block enabled and allows you to perform that action (do an extra Wizard quest, fight a challenger, etc.) for specified time period.
I've actually been meaning to suggest this ever since the Ice King event changed to have a unique link - previously you could use his challenger link if you saw the event but clicked off the page too soon, but now if you don't see the event or click away, it's just gone.

I'm really not worried about original loot drops making a comeback, I just want something new to beat up for a while. |D the widget/buff idea also sounds excellent.
I'd likr to see a bigger variety in the opponents that show up as a RE. I don't care whether they are old opponents or now, whether they drop loot or not. I think it would be nice if besides the Ice King there would be an easy or medium challenger so that people without big battle pets can have some fun too. And for people complaining about the other random events getting rarer, staff could do something like this: When a random event appears, the site first it checks which random event appears and if it's a battle one, only then decide which challenger it's going to be. That way the new challengers will be getting a random event instead of the Ice King, if you get what I mean.
I'm definitely down with more random event challengers, if bringing back old challengers would make it easier for the BAs, I'm all for it (and if the old loot had to be changed or taken away I wouldn't mind). New challengers would be cool too. While I'm not a huge fan of achieve loot, I think that if we had a stacking achievement for beating x number random challengers that would be pretty fun. :)
I think this sounds pretty great - I'd like to see the old loot make a reappearance if we get old challengers.
I also think it should definitely be a time limited thing - it should appear where other buffs appear on your sidebar so you can be aware even if you miss the event - and I think it should be a time limit of 5-10 minutes that you have to try and get in as many wins as possible. I think that would help keep the loot fairly rare (since people with 20+ battle pets wouldn't be able to score 20+ sets of the drops - and also if you miss the shot you miss the shot).
it sounds like a good idea - i do love the old challengers like sand crab - and the old merana challengers or old island and pirate challengers
i would love the original loot too !! like the island plushies or some old scrolls that you cannot get anymore if youre a collector
