Yeah, I think the poison array and the beam that can hold ships need to be the first things to go.
The problem for me is that my character is NOT tech savvy in the slightest. She's lived in the woods most of her life. She's never seen a gun, let alone used one. I don't know how I'm supposed to have her fly now. Also she has magic, but I've been extremely careful to use it out of the battles because she's a ranger and I dont want to god-mode her. But our mage can totally use magic and that I'm fine with. I--I just need to ask GR for some ideas, even our vagaubond is well not really suited to use a ship.

Thanks for the ping, guys! ^^ Unfortunately I'm on short vacation during this weekend and won't have much online time. Also my co-captain is WS "reluctant" at the moment and won't answer any ping. Anyways...

I talked to my group and since we own a fragile as well as fast type of ship we could focus on either attacking the docking station to halt/stop the ships there while dodging that poison or attacking the vessels that are behind the dragon.

So far. Will check in tomorrow the latest, but I guess it's a good idea to team up with Raider's Folly?

Just a few notes on the individual flyers:

  1. We won't be using our bows and arrows only the flyers weapon. Our bows and arrows wouldn't faze an enemies flyer much less the Dragon. A sort of Laser cannon?
  2. To solve the problem of those characters that don't fly... you could commandeer a two seat flyer and have one of the Borderland pilots pilot you and you man the gun. Sort of Top Gun like - Driver and Reel, you being the Reel (copilot)

I do have a suggestion that's been floating around in my head about the actual battle.

When we divide up targets it is possible that we gather our mages and place them on one of the Firefly class ships to jointly deal with whatever magic the Unseelie can throw at us. We would have a squadron of the small flyers keeping the enemy off that ship.

Our Rangers and Warriors will all be manning our ships guns or individual flyers. The Captains controlling the major gun? from the Bridge of the ship? ON our ship the Captain will be doing the flying as our Ranger (our usual pilot) will be busy blasting away at the enemy.

Side Note: Does anyone know how I can get rid of this black skin on my HA? I tried to use the new Beta testing wardrobe yesterday and this is what happened and no matter what I try it won't give me back my regular base.

Actually, The Foggiest Notions only have 4 people right now. One of us knows how to fly (from last year's WS3) and that is our Ranger. Our Vagabond, who is the only one from our group that is a Firefly type character (the rest of us being fantasy types) is sick with the border fever. I'm the mage and we also have a Warrior.

I had some ideas for this, since most of my team has no experience flying a ship, that go back to something my mage character did in a previous chapter. I had him create a "golem" out of the motorbikes that my team was riding on, to fight off the Bone Riders. It was sort of like Voltron or Power Rangers but with a bit of magic holding it all together. Was thinking of doing something like that with the TIE Fighters and have it piloted by our Ranger while the rest of us fire guns/missles.

Since all teams want to make the final blow on the Dragon we should all do our parts to cripple the Dragon and then when it comes time to make the final blow all captains will have communications open and the call will go out something like ''Now's the time, every ship give it all you got'' and all ships will fire simultaneously and we will all make the final blow together and that way all teams can write that into their RP and all teams get credit for the final blow. Yes? Anyone have a problem with that?

I see that we have 5, possibly 6 Firefly class ships. not sure about any one Firefly ship being the flag ship. Not really fair to all the other teams. We are all independent teams and no one wants to be upstaged by another team. I think if we all just agree on the signal and/or statement that we will be writing into our individual team rp's that that would be coordination enough to fire the final blow. Each individual team could state in their rp that they give the signal and it's confirmed by the other teams. We all get credit for leadership.

'A black dragon as large as a planet with spikes all over appears on the horizon. It takes a few minutes to realize that its not actually a dragon, but a wicked looking spaceship. The wings of this spaceship beast are stationary and seem to hold a massive array of weapons, not the least are the disruptor beams that can freeze a small craft in place allowing for leisurely destruction.

The hindquarters shift to reveal a docking station, with hundreds of small ships ready to launch launch out directly at you.
To make matters worse the dragon ship is emitting some kind of steam from its mouth--but its not steam per se, more likely some kind of poison.

Behind the this dastardly dragon await thirty or so individual vessels similar to the Trainquility line of fighters, but twisted sickening ships made of odd pieces and even bones held together by magical clouds of sickening reds and oranges, burning with dangerous fires. These ships are armed to the teeth with cannons and lasers.'

Archers are naturally aeronauts as well, so you can pilot extremely well. Also you use some of the same skills aiming a bow as aiming a gun. I wouldn't recommend a ship with harpoons because of loading time, but they wouldn't have parabolic paths anyhow because it's spaaaace, so just go with lasers or phasers or disruptors or blasters or whatever.

Oh, I just read back about what the ships are suppose to be like. I reckon aiming a laser gun won't be much of a stretch at all. I missed the part that they were equipped with that. :) Makes it easy, indeed! Especially if Spring is already a pilot and good at it.

: You're probably right, I wasn't trying to elevate any one crew above another, just looking for one ship that could be cited by the others as the crew that gave the signals. It was a random / arbitrary pick on my part. We don't need a flag ship....

: H2G2????? ( little dork sister here doesn't get it, [giggle] I think it means HUGS )

We really shouldn't overthink this, we could find a million plot holes to fall through and never get anywhere. We simply need to devise a plot outline, ( hopefully tonight or by tomorrow night at the latest, ) take the outline back to our crews and write like crazy.

The main gist of the thing is this, there are teams with large multi-member craft. We're calling these "Firefly-class' and they are the 'heavy hitters' of our side. We have to assume that they have been fitted with the latest/greatest weapons available to us. ( blasters, torpedoes, etc, make stuff up, it's your craft.) Shoot, we have a turtle with a Psychic Cannon in it's head. Unseelies are gonna die!!

All the rest of the teams will be piloting single-seat fighters with blaster weapons ( Tie-fighter class ). It is moot who can fly or not fly, who is a pilot or who is not a pilot. If I read Rowan correctly, everybody flies one thing or another, just as those of us without bikes rode motor bikes without having ever done so before ( I mean seriously, I am a diminutive weasel-girl, 4'-4", 88 lbs dripping wet on a HOG, fighting nasties WITH BOMBS! in the maze chapter. We have to suspend disbelief here folks.

Which partially answers your post , according to Rowan, it doesn't really matter if your character actually knows how to fly a fighter, by some contrivance of this plot all your team members will be flying. Rather then this being a problem, it could be a very creative opportunity. Perhaps all fighters have ways of making a psychic connection with their pilots and can 'download' knowledge of flying into the minds of it's occupants similar to the plot device in the Matrix. ( only without the phallic symbology of the huge probe going into the head ) Maybe you could have all your team members use a Chekov's Classroom plot device, where suddenly everybody recalls having 'learned about flying way back in Faerie Kindergarten'. Using a golem, or an avatar whereby one person psychically manipulates several other craft is a totally creative way to deal with this issue. In the last episode of My Little Pony, Princess Luna psychically links with everybody's dreams to fight a monster as a collective. Fantastic plot contrivance.

Plot holes are never a problem...fill them with clever plot devices and contrivances. Make stuff up. Personally, I think Frieda is going to toss Whiskey Cookies out the cargo bay door and take out a couple of enemy fighters.

If you want, I will post a tentative plot outline that is open-ended enough so that all teams can use it as a guideline for how to proceed, Much the way Rowan gives us the skeleton of a story. I will try to have this posted tonight before I go to bed. When we agree on the bare-bones outline, then we can dismiss all the Captains to go to their teams and hammer out the particulars of what their team is going to do. If you have suggestions, by all means, post them here, I will try to work it in if it isn't too specific.

Again, I am not trying to run this battle, just offer suggestions on how to get organized.

A very loose guideline would probably be best. We can choose which way we want to go.

I would like to have the Black Swan go after the laser beam that threatens to cut our ships to pieces. Of course, if there's a better use for our ship, please let me know!

Being me and co-captain of 's Fallen Angels, I wanted to reiterate not to over-think things y'all, all you need to do is come up with a basic plan and decide who wants to jump onboard what ship.

In other words I cant help but kick in my 2 cents. Remember the basic law of the Wayward Squirrel y'all DO NOT PANIC and HAVE FUN.

We don't write the battle as a group, we only join forces to take down the Unseelie invasion. From there, what you RP is up to you and your team =) And if you're jumping onboard, there's tons of things you can do while remaining in character. The only thing different is you're on a large ship - from there just be yourself.

Mage's have spells to reinforce shields, gunners turrets, force fields around smaller ships, things like that.

Vagabonds are mechanical masters. They can be powering the lasers, the ships engines, tweak this or that with the sonic screwdrivers, assist with keeping the mechanics of the ship at full capacity, tweak accuracy on guns, cannons, lasers, whatever.

Alchemists can make potion bombs of any kind - our ships have cargo bays, you'll find whatever you need there. Your companions can run and fetch whatever you're looking for to make them and deliver them if you like.

Rangers / Archers - bow and arrows may not be of much help but if "through the portal" adds mad aeronaut skills, the Ranger must have the basics down, right? All firefly class ships have shuttles, so jump onboard and man one, have your mage use spells to reinforce it's shields, use your incredible talents for hitting your targets with the weapons on your shuttle.. you could take out dozens of the smaller ships on the docking station - sky's the limit.

Warriors (like me) obviously we can't use hand-to-hand but we can man a gunners turent and take out anything coming at us. Personally I also have a makeshift grenade / mortar launcher to fire the bombs our alchemist makes.

Remember to wear masks while we take on the poison tubes, some well placed bombs going down the tubes or whatever your mind tells you will lead to the source of the poison gas in the belly of the beast should weaken it to the point it's useless but we can't god-mod so we should all assume the air is toxic until the end.

To get around the disruptor ray.. imagination is your friend. We can't "take it out" but we can find a way around it nailing our ships/shuttles. For example, we've come up with an idea to switch the polarity of a polished disc used to gather solar energy that is mounted to our ship to deflect their ray and a few times we'll get lucky and freeze a smaller ship. It would be awesome if we could freeze the death dragon itself but that's uber-equipping.

To end the Death Dragon, the give it all you got battle cry is a perfect solution. Bombs hitting gaping holes from your attacks all at once blow it to bits from the inside out - and those of you who's manned smaller shuttles/flyers can land on our ships or whatever.

You'll stay in character and we'll win the day.

I am waiting for the rest of the team of Bohemian Travelers to decide but we may split up, two of us are probably going with the teens on the larger ship GR just posted about and help with weapons.. the rest may use the Tie or come also.

The rough outline of where we are and basically which ships will concentrate on taking out which of theirs would be helpful. :)

, did you got my smail ?

Basic Outline Coming UP SOON!! ( I was up till 2:00 AM working on it. )

There are some Firefly-class tasks to chose from ( you volunteer your team and ship to these tasks ) and some Tie-fighter class tasks ( you volunteer your fighter squad to these tasks ) to chose from. The other tasks are open-ended to allow for teams to improvise. Those teams that do not volunteer for the specific tasks ( like taking out the Poison Array in Phase One of the battle ) join the battle in attacking secondary targets.

There are three main phases of the battle, which is loosely structured to allow for teams to improvise. Teams may make up secondary and tertiary targets.

More to come.......

This is the first All Teams cooperative battle. Please pick a part you want your teams to do. You may ask other teams what part they are doing, but on the OOC thread unless you stay in character here. It might be wise to consider your vessels to decide what you want to do. Larger vessels seem the best bet to take out the deathship itself, after all:

Blasting a DeathDragon ain't like dusting crops, squirrels! )

OK... so this is a Cooperative battle. Each team needs to pick a part i.e. targeting the left wing weapons array, Targeting the right wing weapons array, Targeting the dragons docking bay and the small flyers coming out of it, Targeting the engines, Targeting the bridge, targeting the Disruptor Ray, Targeting the firefly class ships behind the Dragon. Pick a part, any part and list it here so everyone knows what's available. I believe that one of the teams have already shown interest in going after the Disruptor Ray. IF everyone fights their battle, doing their specific part and then ends their RP with getting the signal to make the final blow we'll be done.
