Who else is into "collecting" names? I don't mean hoarding them, though I guess that's at least partially in the eye of the beholder. I mean, do you think about how a name will fit in with the rest of your pets, or only adopt real words/real names/fan names? Names of a certain letter or names that fit a theme?

This year I've been super focused names more than usual. I decided in January this year that I wanted at least one pet for every letter of the alphabet, and on Sunday the 26th of July I achieved my goal! Hip hip hooray! Welcome Reraise to my massive pet family and thanks for adopting him out to me. But I also ended up with two pets whose names start with numerals (35mm and 1000 Needles), and now I'm thinking... maybe one of each single digit might be nice as well. :) And so it begins again. It will give me a good long-term goal and motivation to keep saving for more pet slots. By the time I can afford the next 3 slots in the MC, maybe there will be more opportunities to buy more CSC slots.

I also like food names, I have 4 currently (Apple Strudel, Peach Tea, Lemon Poppy-Seed, and Bergamot) and I'd love more. I have also been mildly interested in names related to Final Fantasy games- 3 of those now (1000 Needles, Ashelia, and Reraise) and I think that's gonna be another side mission for pet collecting.

I have found from the relative short time I have been here on Subeta from pets adopted from the Adoption Agency (with help as my account was too young) that pets have personality inspite of naming. The pet that showed personality plus the first time I saw her was so personality plus I had to adopt her. Gula Spectrum Torrent is the gal. She is my shining good morning pet! The pet I am most proud of and created by name and buying potion etc is Nien Nostalic Neela.

I collect balloon related names (and stalk the ones that are taken!)

EDIT: Heh, guess I should explain. I have Blimp, Zeppelin (found in the pound), Sonde (a sonde is an instrument often carried by a balloon), Balloon Boy (Five Nights at Freddy's character who has a balloon), and Drifblim (hot air balloon Pokemon).

I also love that you have 1000 Needles :D I love cacti, so I'm a big Cactuar fan.

I've always been into 'real' names, although lots of my pets are based off of book characters too. (I've always been an avid reader!) I have more fanpets than I'd like to own up to, haha, but I'm really happy with them all!

I love collecting names, but I usually have a character idea in mind before I choose a name. Every pet I own either has a story written or a story planned. I've just recently created a spreadsheet that is color-coded based on what each pet needs. It comes in handy with a large family.

Some of my pets are based on unique characters I've created for my own writing projects and many have RW or near RW names. Some are just short names I like that helped me finish out my pet alphabet. I have very few fan pets (only 2 at the moment) because I prefer to create my own characters.

I tend to get inspired to work on one pet at a time and put my energy into completing that pet's story and choosing the right TC items. I focus on profiles last in case I decide to completely redraft a story (which has happened a time or three =D).

I've been doing the alphabet thing since I started about six years ago, but I do have a couple of repeats (As, Cs, and Rs). Other than that I tend to get a lot of plant names: Aloe, Cornflower and Crabtree (which is also a fanpet.... lmao). And French real words/names: Homme, Juin, Reinette (who is also another fanpet when will I stop).

Everyone else is pretty much a real word/name (either in English or another language) or a fanpet and they all have stories that incorporate their name. Or they will. Eventually. It's hard to keep up with 19 pets when you're in college.

The only pet that doesn't fit the mold is my very first pet who is named after another pet my friend gave me on Neopets before I joined Subeta, and I keep her that way for nostalgia.

I agree about pets having great personality even with quirky names, I've found some real gems in the adoption center. Btw, it's cool to see all your pets on your profile. I think I saw you around the adoption forum a while ago and I wanted to see your pets because of the way you described them in posts, but I was sad they were hidden. They're so lovely!

I don't know that we've talked but I def recognize you and your balloon pets/theme :D I've always admired your thorough and well written pet stories, if that's not too of topic to mention. And thanks, I have no idea what to do with 1000 Needles but it's a fun name! does cactaur dance

Yeah I've just accepted that fanpets will be a part of my subeta life haha. I try to make them based around the canon universe instead of a specific character to feel like they're more OCs, I've had full on fanpets that just turn into something else anyway, so I adopted them all out. But I love what people do with fanpets, they are a lot of fun.

I'm impressed you don't have even more repeats, I already had 30+ pets when I decided to do the alphabet thing and it was a lot to juggle. I kept adopting A and B names and I thought I'd never get there :P

I've thought about alphabet pets. But I'm so picky about my names. It's so horrible!

I've found myself collecting "bad ass" names, cars and Ancient Egyptian names. All my favorite things, lol.

I always end up working on the pets that sparks the quickest inspiration for me. Like the first was one of my first pets, Genia. I have a huge story for Kyra but can't figure out how to start it. So I passed her up for Airk and my cars.

Until I get my 27th pet (only on my 18th) I'm only going to have one pet per letter of the alphabet. I've missed out on names, or had to change/get rid of a pet, but I just can't have two pets starting with one letter when I have missing letters.

I checked out your pets, and idk if you were aware but I thought I'd mention that Syvyys is a Finnish word and means 'depth' (especially in relation to water), which is super neat! Which you probably knew already, but hey, it's a beautiful name.

I have a new fondness for RWs that fit the character, and i've been thinking of changing some of my pet names to RNs. Haven't really found anything yet that suits the characters though.

I don't really "collect" names. But I have a weakness for greek and roman names (but even there I am extremly picky). I really like normal RNs as well (mostly male) but only cause I have OCs that have that names =). I actually only take names that I have character ideas for or existing characters. Some names are sadly so common it is hard to get them XD

I don't really collect names, per se but I do have name likings. Usually it's real words, historical names, real names and mythological names.

I do have a couple names that start with the same letter though although it's purely by accident.

I collect names of Marvel characters/RW/RN names but only if I have idea's for them. A few weeks ago I was very lucky to catch Bucky on my phone who is one of my favorite characters and a few months before I got Clint which is my other favorite character from Marvel :) So I'm pretty happy right now!

the rule of thumb for me and pet names is: if it strikes my imagination. I have an OC with real name [vincent_lacroix], a fan pet [mirka], 2 pets with gods names [kshira and akshar], real word names [noraebang and pepsi cola].. and the rest i forgot XD oops

I'm a big fan of collecting names, especially the names of birds or bird related names. I own Bird, Swan, Eagle, Lark, Owl, and Hatch. I love pet names so much. I feel bad when I leave some sitting for so long, but it takes me forever to finally get done with profiles and stories and TCs. I am just finishing up with Hesper's, and that will probably still take me the rest of the summer. Still, love my pet names, and I have gone to some crazy lengths to avoid missing clearings over the years!

My favourite letter is E so all of my pets have names starting with E.

I don't know if I really collect names specifically. I guess mostly rns and fantasy sounding rns/rws is what I tend to go for since that's what I enjoy writing about haha. It really depends on what sparks inspiration!

I'm not really collecting names since I have a whole range of quite different names...Though I've been told that I have a lot of German RW/RN names (Schwarz, Sieben, Nacht, Johan, Theodor, Karl), and many users actually thought I was from a German speaking country :P.
