Why do I sometimes get these alerts to threads where my name has not been mentioned?
either group pings, someone hit ping friends, or staff posted on the thread and they wanted to alert everyone on it that they posted on it. most likely just the ping friends check box though
doesn't it mention in the alerts whether it's a group you've been pinged through?
it doesn't happen often, but when it does it's hardly threads that staff would alert people to.

Looks like a weird glitch in that case, maybe from the post where she pinged @ 15 by mistake? It is a user account though, so idk :x

Are you friends with her? If so she probably accidentally hit the ping friends button
If not, I notice that post has a bunch of @ in it and some show up as pings, so it looks like it may have pinged you somehow.
Can you ping @ 15 in the next post to see if they get pinged? I'd do it but idk if it would be clear since I already pinged
Awesome we'll see if it goes through. Aren't usernames 3 chars+ now? Or can they be two? I wonder if some of the ping changes that have happened glitch on certain old usernames
I know pet names are 3+ characters, so yeah I would assume the same for usernames too. But yeah it could be kind of a weird glitch with it (and potentially the reason there are no 2-character names allowed? Like there's gotta be a reason for that right? I'm not a programmer though so I'm just kind of talking out of my ass at this point)
It's not people I know, or kinda now. I don't log on often but most when I do (once a month, two months?) I have one or two of these pings. My name is not easily confused with someone else (unless there's a ?).

If someone has a sinilar username with a special char in it, you'll get pinged too I believe. There were some changes to help out people with special chars in their username. It doesn't look like this applies to the post you posted though, so my best guess is some random glitch. That's all I can really think of

Huh, then yeah it's probably just a random glitch. I don't know why you specifically would get them often but maybe you should just post in Problems & Bugs and let them figure it out lmao

But yeah, I'm pretty sure that while I was updating that goddamn timekeeping thread, I pinged people by accident and since I never got any bad feedback about it, I just guessed that WOW THE FEATURE MUST BE BROKEN OR SOMETHING.
