it should scale from like t4 to t7 with similar stats to trident of the banished one o-o maybe not quite as strong but similar. we don't get many tier scaling weapons and you can only do so much with if str > def if def > str if str - def > 100 if spd > 500000 if (str + def) / spd > 3
make it a shield
"the best defense.. is a big sharp axe"

Yes, and it should also definitely be edible. And a beanbag.

This went from `yes this is an ongoing issue that staff needs to address and work on' to 'these comments are on troll level, no wonder they ignore the fuck out of us.'
I don't know, I think that "I saw the weapon for the first time the day of its release." was the trolliest answer on this thread.
You know there is a weapon. Why wasn't that planned beforehand.
So I knew we were getting an "air" weapon. So what? I don't know what it's going to be. I take everything from its name to its description to what it looks like into account for how I stat it. I refuse to stat something blind. Unless you want generic garbage for your CS weapons, I can give the axe 35 air attack and be done with it.
... huh.
I was under the impression that the BAs requested battling items, and the art department drew them as needed. If a weapon wasn't requested, why not leave it as just a wearable? There are plenty of wearable-only items that could be statted but aren't.
I mean, don't leave this one as a wearable now that it's already a weapon, but like, for future items... if the art department produces an axe / bow / shield that is also wearable, maybe just leave it as a wearable. And nothing else.
And maybe everybody has a meeting about inter-staff communication ;n;
[edit]ETA, ninja'd. Why don't BAs get to see the art, description, and item name before a weapon is released? That's relevant information :c
Yeah, that would have been better to give the axe 35 air icons at first and then, after its release, change for something with custom coding or do whatever fancy things you want that thing to do.
In both situations, you have to modify the stats anyway, so if you don't have the time to give it permanent stats right now, yeah, just dumb a bunch of monowind in there instead of a 1-icon weapon.
You guys are so silly, it's already been custom coded. You just don't have the right stats to trigger it.
It takes weeks after the release to figure out the stats? How is this a thing?
Ideally I like to take a week after seeing the art to come up with something. Let it mull around in the back of my mind for an idea. Then I'll stat it. And... hey, look. It's been a week. IT HAS STATS!
I enjoy making you guys cool weapons, or at least try to make them cool. CS weapons should never be generic because you paid to get them. But if you don't really care what the stats are, then everything can just have a basic attack and block. Boom. Done.
I'd rather they have no stats for a week while I come up with something interesting than be boring high tier junk.
if youre responding to me, i didnt say that. at all.
No one prefers generic weapons. No one minds waiting a week (the complaint was "weeks" per OP).
this smacks of poor intra-staff communication, honestly. how can the BA statting the weapon only get a glimpse of it on the same day the users do?
maybe battlers wouldn't have to choose between "wait a week for weapon to be statted" and "generic weapon stats" if subeta's different departments kept a bit better communication? like "hey we're gonna release this weapon on X date, it looks like this and it's going with this opponent"
i dunno, just a novel idea here
I would agree, but he's very serious with his responses, however much we tilt our heads and go 'really ?'
From my understanding a large portion of the art is done beforehand (almost all). Some is finished the day it's released, but most is done in advance or AT LEAST discussed with the creative advisors beforehand (for approval on sketches and the like). There is no excuse for staff to not hit one another up and go "hey, this is the sketch/work in progress/finished piece for you to start working on stats."
Wow. Whatever feedback you're receiving, please remember to be respectful to users. There's a whole rule for users having to be respectful, and that really should go both ways when it comes to admins too. I'm pretty disappointed to see how you chose to respond to this thread. There's a lot of attitude, and you did the same thing recently with the BC revamp feedback too. x_X
That being said, it does seem like you should receive item information in advance to assign stats upon release of a new battle item. Perhaps that's something that could be looked into in order to streamline the process and make things easier for the BAs?
I do wish items came out with stats already one them, but I would much rather have them be interesting (even if mostly niche) than not, so it's worth the wait IMO.
The only weapon I remember taking weeks was the one dropped by Crithbolcan. That was only due to us being in the middle of the stat cap raise/opponent reset/super opponents push. I think I've gotten everything else statted in a week or less.
I like taking my time in the statting of these weapons. Even if I have the art a few days before (which I usually do, there's occasionally complications like with this month), it's unlikely it'll have stats when it is released. Though I don't like doing it, in the future I'll give the weapons some random generic stats appropriate for the tier, instead of a single icon. It'll still have "STATS SOON!" for the attack text though :P
